We stayed several days in Madrid at a hotel close to the Prado [NH Paseo del Prado].  The Prado is free every day two hours before closing – only a slight cost saving, but more importantly saves you from trying to do the entire museum at one go.  We could do one area and really enjoy it, knowing that we could come back the next day for some more.  It's the only thing in Madrid that we felt needed that kind of time, so being at a hotel right there was a nice bonus.  Everything else in Madrid was easily walkable even from there.

Thanks for the info! Good to know about the Prado.

  2. Planning on flying into Madrid and taking the train to Barcelona for our cruise in 2022. On our 2018 cruise from Barcelona to Lisbon, we met another couple on our cruise who had done just that!. We wished we had thought of it and now with the changes in our trip due to Covid shifting, we will have the opportunity. Looking forward to this cruise!

  3. I know this question was asked but I can't find the thread so I am hoping someone can help.

In September of 2019, after reaching a new tier on the loyalty program, we earned four complimentary nights. In October of 2019, we booked a cruise using those nights for October 2021. Because the Covid pandemic remains as well as its rules and regulations, we are getting concerned about cruising in the fall of 2021. Will we be able to shift those nights to a cruise in 2022 even though we will have passed that one year time frame?

Has anyone been able to shift with complimentary nights?

    Thanks!

You can apply the suite minutes towards the package.  You get $150 credit, but you must buy the package before Day 3.  On a 16 night cruise the package at current rates would normally be $320 so you will pay $170. You cannot use the 235 minutes and have the $150 credit you can however buy the package at any time paying for the remaining days.  In simple maths terms will 235 minutes last you 8 days plus, if so use the minutes then get a package however I find it more convenient to have a package as I’m not wasting time logging on and off.

    Thanks!

  5. I think I may have read this info on the forum, but I can't find the thread. If you are staying in a suite, you are given 235 internet minutes. Do you use up the internet minutes first, and then buy an internet package for your remaining days? Will they give you a financial amount to apply toward your internet package instead of the 235 minutes? I am just not sure how it works as I will be on a 16 day cruise next month, and want to use my internet minutes wisely. I understand that I will not receive my LCV internet minutes as well as my suite minutes. Thanks!

That’s ok, everyone has a right to express their opinion. With regards to your O and X comparison, this is not the case we recently experience on our 21 day Caribbean cruise on the Reflection. There was never a waiting line to get to our window table for 2 at 5:15 in the Luminae. We usually got out of there around 6:30 and never had an issue getting to our favorite theater seats for the evening shows. When is was time to disembark for our X excursions, we met in the main theater and exited when our number was called. On disembarkation day, we went to Michaels and they escorted us off the ship bypassing the crowds. We may have seen a handful of children at the most on our entire cruise as it was in late January and they were all in school. Didn’t really care about the pool area as we had a big balcony to lounge around on. There were at least 2 professional lectures on each sea day along with up to 4 different trivias which we never had a problem getting a place for 2 to sit at. There was also an interactive game show almost every night between the 7 and 9 pm evening shows. I think the O ships only have one at 9:30 if I recall. Internet service was GREAT and never had a hitch, daytime or in the evening. We also had a butler, Walter, who surprisingly made our cruise even better even though we never were served any meals in our humongous cabin that had a 3 ft porthole on the side wall as well as a sliding door that opened to our balcony. No, booking an A cabin on the Riviera comes nowhere close to booking a corner aft-facing cabin on an S-class X ship. But, of course, that’s just our opinion. I’m sure there are others that have different ones.

Depends when you travel.....Celebrity Reflection in the Mediterranean during the summer was mobbed with kids running up and down the halls, playing in the elevator, and walking around in Luminae. Azamara Journey in the summer was just as you would find it in the fall in the Mediterranean: quiet and relaxing......

I did not receive the survey, but my other half did.

We also apparently don't have enough income to answer past that question, although we have so far done 25 Azamara cruises without breaking the bank, as well as five more booked!

Obviously many loyal Azamara cruisers are not from the higher income brackets.

If the survey does not include a response from one of every couple, just how can the results provide any sort of balanced response???

It does seem that some decisions have already been made and the survey responses are being sliced & diced to provide the result desired by management.

Completed the survey, but refused to list income. Thought it was none of their business! I guarantee I am not one of the 1%.

On many cruises, there are on-demand pay-per-view movies on the TV.  On some cruises these on-demand movies are free.  I'm not talking about flipping channels on the television and running across a movie to watch.

I am addressing the free movies you can watch on the Journey. I didn't pay for any movies and don't recall them having any movies to pay.

  9. The free movies were questionable. Why children's movies were shown on a cruise ship that caters to adults is beyond me. I wish I could remember the titles, but it has a few months since our cruise. I questioned this on my feedback sheet, but received no response.

No, and still not listed as of today. I do not see any excursions for Beijing either yet. What company are you using in Tokyo for your excursion you have already planned?

nanc( we were born and raised in PA but moved to UT over 40 years ago, but have not lost my accent!)

In Tokyo we are using a guide from TripleLights. She was recommended by a friend who used her services when visiting Tokyo last year. Check our roll call and see if you are interested in the Beijing tour being planned.

Where ever you go and no matter how long you away, you can never lose that accent!   🙂

  11. Bonnie or anyone who may have the answer to this question: This fall I will be taking a cruise and moving up to the next tier in the loyalty program. It will entitle us to four free nights. I am planning on booking the next cruise on board to take advantage of the LCV discount. Do I have to just book a cruise within one year of the change in tier or do I also have to set sail within the year?  I have called Azamara for clarification and received different responses each time.  For example, if I book in October 2019, do I have to sail by October 2020 .

    Thanks, Jackie

  12. Thank you for informing me to check on my My Azamara account loyalty levels. I noticed that it was incorrect. After calling LCV on Monday to have them make the corrections, I was told the new total would be reflected on the web site account. It is still not reflected days later. On our first Azamara cruise, we were only given 1 point for the cruise as I was told that this was under the old system of calculating points. The accuracy will be important as we should be moving up a tier on our next cruise to Asia. I am hoping to book our next cruise on ship and receive the additional free days. How long does this change take to be reflected?

The buffet is always open on return from the Azamazing Evening too if you want it.  It’s the one night when snacks are available later.

    Phil

Oh, I knew it was available.....I am just not a fan of buffets. I don't frequent them at restaurants, cruise ships, etc....for many reasons. But I was impressed with the cheese and meat platters we ordered from room service!

  14. Ordered the cheese platter and the Mediterranean platter from room service after we returned from our Amazing Evening in Valencia. Since we ate a light meal early in the evening, we were hungry upon return. The platters were perfect!
