One thing I always enjoyed on NCL was their chocolate lava cake that was served with a strawberry sauce and a small scoop of stracciatella gelato.  The lava cake would be warm and so so good!

We were supposed to sail May 24th on the Encore out of NY to Bermuda.  Hope they cancel soon so I can request my refund.

Questions for those of you who have been to Paris at Christmas time...

1.  We are thinking of going from Dec 24th - Jan 2nd due to our daughter’s college break (she can not miss any days like we were able to when she was in high school).  How is Paris during this time of year?  Is it extremely crowded?

2.  We would love to visit a Christmas market - any suggestions of ones you loved and would recommend?
 

3.  Any special things that you enjoyed during the holiday season that you recommend we do?

4.  Any hotel you would recommend for a family of 4 - 2 parents, 2 teens?

3 of us were in Paris in the summer of 2017 when it was 100+ degrees so this will be a much different experience being that it will be cold.

Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.  I know this is all dependent on what happens with Coronavirus, but I figured we can start planning the trip and then book it once we know it is safe to travel.

So we were scheduled to sail the Dawn out of Venice May 24th.  I read on cruise critic if your cruise was 60+ days out they would let you change cruise provided new Cruise was same or more money and you sailed by June 30th.  I called Tuesday and our reservation was changed to sail the Encore to Bermuda May 24th.    We were worried because for the Greek Islands Cruise we were only taking one of our two teens because our son has severe food allergies and special needs.  My mom would be staying with him at home and what if we were quarantined out in Italy or Greece.  NCL even let us add him to our Bermuda reservation since we have taken him on cruises to Bermuda before.   Our total increased $560 because we added him, but we got a $200 OBC and all the free offers.  We used miles from United to book our flights to Venice and they waived our fee and let us re-deposit the miles into my account.   Luckily the hotel in Venice I did not pay in full, just had a guarantee reservation.  
 

I highly recommend Hotel Olimpia.  I will be staying there for a fourth time in May. Fantastic staff, very clean, great breakfast and beautiful outdoor garden to sit out in and enjoy gelato.  Right next to P. Roma.

We love the Trevi 41 Hotel - right around the corner from the Trevi.  The rooms are very modern, clean and the air conditioner works very well on warm days.  Staff are fantastic!  I have stayed there 4 times and it always exceeds my expectations.

To get to the port, we have used Rome Cabs and they have been prompt and professional each trip.  Their email is info@romecabs.com.

PS try to get up early and you can sit right at the Trevi with no crowds.  We do that at least one morning each trip. I always get there by 7 am and you can enjoy the sound of the water with very few if any other tourists

Highly recommend the Hotel Olimpia which is right off of P Roma.  Will be staying at this hotel a 4th time for our cruise out of Venice in May 2020.  Superb staff, very clean rooms, beautiful outdoor garden area to relax and have gelato in (shop right around the corner) and great breakfast.  We just Love it there!!!

Exactly. We were going to get the ferry but we would have had to wait quite a while so we opted for the taxi.  It was a nice scenic ride.  It’s good to know your options and how much it will cost so you are prepared.  

We were on the Escape sailing June 2-9th.  After you left the ship as you walked through the little building they had several people sitting at a table checking bags.  The first day they checked our bag.  The following two days they just asked if we had fruit which we did not.  Hope that helps

We were in Bermuda two weeks ago and the 4 of us took a taxi from the dockyard directly to the caves.  The price was $64.  It took a total of 45-50 minutes.

We were in Bermuda two weeks ago and the only thing you could not take off was fruit.  As you left, they did check bags and asked if you had fruit. 

We were in Bermuda on June 7th and the 4 of us took a taxi from King’s Wharf directly to the Caves.  The taxi for the 4 of us was $64 and took approximately 45 minutes.  Sadly, we did not get to see the caves because they had a power outage and weren’t sure how long it would be until the power was back on.  So then we decided to take a taxi from the Caves to downtown Hamilton to shop.  That taxi ride was $24 for the 4 of us.

I know that it would be cheaper to use public transportation but my husband and son have really bad motion sickness so they do better in a smaller vehicle vs a large bus.  Plus we liked the convenience of the taxis.  We did not have to wait for a scheduled time.

Sorry forgot -2 queen beds and would love to be at or under $250. Key is clean. Do not need restaurant on site or many amenities since we will be there about 14 hours.

Hi Everyone,

We are a family of 4 (2 adults, 16 and 15 year old) looking for a clean hotel for Nov 17th. We are boarding the Escape on the 18th for Thanksgiving week cruise.

We won’t arrive in to LGA until 7:30 pm.

Any recommendations for where to stay that night near LGA as well as near Manhattan port? Not sure which area we will stay in. We will be going to hotel, ordering a pizza and calling it a night.

I have stayed four times at the Trevi 41. Love the location (literally around the corner from the Trevi), fantastic staff,very clean rooms with air conditioning that works really well.

Highly recommend the Best Western Hotel Olimpia. Have stayed there on three trios to Venice and it is fantastic! Great service, beautiful garden in back to sit and eat gelato in and very convenient!

I love staying in the Trevi area. Easy to walk to many sites and I love getting up early to eat breakfast by the Trevi fountain before any crowds appear.

We were just in Venice in June with our 15 year old daughter. This was my third visit and third time staying at the Best Western Olimpia -love it!!!

Just an idea since you have 2 teen boys - my daughter and husband did stand up paddle boarding -it was something she stills talks about! The company we used was SUP Venice. They were fantastic. A very unique experience for sure.
