  1. Thanks for the video. The only way I'll evxer see a suite...vicariously.

    Loved the video!!

    Good info. Thanks

Thank you for a well made video. The suite looks very nice.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Does anyone know if this is also true of Royal balconies?

Seeing as they're sister ships, I'm fairly certain they are the same layout unfortunately.

It seemed the Regal skipped Tallinn on your voyage. What was the reason?

Still bummed about that one actually. We had excessive winds in Warnemunde and could not pull out in time to make Tallinn. Although we had a second day in Warnemunde, Princess could not get any transportation or tours lined up so those who wanted off were simply advised to pick up a public bus schedule from the tour desk. This is of course due to the ports remote location.

  2. Apologies if this has been discussed ad nauseam, it's truly a first for us and I have no desire to inconvenience ourselves, our fellow passengers, and Princess staff at check in.

Regal Princess is using a progressive check in schedule. We're booked in a full suite on Riviera and have a preferred boarding pass entitiling us to priority check in. We received an email today from Princess with the following line, "Priority check in will be available to guests with a Preferred Boardng Pass within the allocated check in time..."

Before we received this email, I assumed we could show up early and be some of the first to check in and board. Is this correct? ...Or should we plan on waiting the 2+ hours until Riviera is scheduled?

  3. Thank you everyone for the suggestions so far. I certainly have a lot to follow up on.

Thank you for this. I noticed most of the websites offer the ability to reserve a table online. Is this really necessary or will we be okay walking in?

  4. We're currently booked with SPB Tours for our upcoming cruise not only because they have great reviews, but because they were the only tour company we could find that offered tours in each port of call. In our case, that meant: Oslo, Berlin, Tallinn, St P, Helsinki, Stockholm, and Copenhagen post cruise. The convenience of working with one tour operator for all ports eased a lot of stress and anxiety for us. Bonus points for being able to prepay online in USD at the time... although now I think due to Russian law they can only accept payment in Rubles so make sure your card doesn't charge a foreign transaction fee.

  5. Now that we can count the number of days until we land in CPH on two hands...!

Looking for recommendations on some of your favorite restaurants in Copenhagen to enjoy lunch and dinner at? We'll be staying at Scandic Copenhagen so preferably in that vicinity. Any type of food is okay with us if it's good enough, but some local dishes and beers would be ideal.

  6. Try SPB tours who do tours in St Petersberg and Berlin

for Berlin we had a few people interested in a private tour and SPG put us together with 4 others from another cruise ship in port at the same time to fill up the van

We have a private tour booked through SPB, Classic Berlin with Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Memorial. Are we at risk of being combined with other people? Was there a price break once it was no longer private?

  7. Hi Everyone,

We booked on a previous $1 deposit, fully refundable sale for a cruise in Jan 2018 for South America. We booked Club Class and since then, a better deal came available on Oceania for a similar cruise but a week longer. I booked the Oceania cruise but still have the Princess cruise booked. I will NOT cancel the Princess one until I have to pay in full for the Oceania one. The Princess cruise is more expensive than the Oceania cruise.

Anyway, this $1 deposit sale was good for us, kinda?

Then you're part of the problem. This is why it doesn't make business sense for Princess to have a $1 deposit sale. You've removed that room from their inventory with no intention on using it.

  8. Just remember, 5 in a cabin and only one bathroom...with that being said their are other places on the ship to shower and get ready, etc. But booking connecting cabins may not be too much more expensive and the bonus is an extra bathroom.

Sent from my SM-G930V using Forums mobile app

Deluxe ocean view cabins on Dream class, which allow for five guests, have two bathrooms.

  9. We're set to arrive in Copenhagen three days before our cruise this coming June. We'll be staying at the Scandic Copenhagen during this time while we take in the city. To date, I've been planning we would take a taxi from CPH to Scandic and again to Oceankaj. I'm now questioning this after reading on Princess's website that most taxis are only suitable for two people and their luggage. There will be three of us and three pieces of luggage at a minimum.

My question is, will a taxi work for us both from CPH to Scandic and again from Scandic to Oceankaj? If not, I assume that leaves us with public transportation in which case I would ask for recommendations on the most direct routes since we're not necessarily looking for the cheapest options. If a taxi will work for us, am I correct to assume we won't have much trouble catching one at Scandic on the morning of the cruise?

    Thanks for your help!

  10. Yes a body is a body onboard regardless of age and must have a corresponding berth in the cabin.

Better call Princess asap and get on a waiting list for a triple cabin.

Thanks for the quick feedback. Unfortunately, I just sat on hold for 30 minutes waiting for someone at Princess to help before having to hang up. Will try again tomorrow.

  11. We have our eyes on Ruby Princess sailing out of Long Beach on December 22 and would be bringing our seven month old daughter. I understand this is relatively last minute and being a holiday cruise, cabin availability is limited. When searching online for two people, there are several rooms in each category available. When we bump it up to three people, suddenly the whole cruise is sold out.

Do we really need a three person cabin to bring our daughter? Regardless of cabin type and occupancy rating, it would seem we would simply have a king bed and crib...

  12. We're on a six day out of Miami on Breeze which starts Easter Sunday... 4/5. Would this be considered spring break? Our roll call is mostly families which is fine with us, we just don't want the influx of rowdy college kids overtaking the ship.

  13. Taxi from FLL to Miami will run $80+ and takes 40 to 45+ minutes - your UBER estimate sounds low to me. Are they authorized to pick up passengers at FLL?

Taxis are easy from any downtown hotel to POM - if there is not one waiting outside your hotel the front desk should be happy to call for one. Taxi fare from most downtown hotels to POM should run about $12+tip (slightly more from Mary Brickell area hotels). Good luck! :)

That's the beauty of Uber! Some people say it's a tradeoff with an assumed risk, however I don't view it that way personally. Their website allows for the plotting of the trip, so I would assume they are authorized to pick up there. If not, I would assume it would be orchestrated similar to when we rode from IAH to Bayport Cruise Terminal last month in that they simply picked us up in the same loading and unloading zone your family would use. I should note, that trip was quite a bit longer and further than FLL to Downtown Miami and was only $60. As for the taxi's sitting at the downtown hotels, I'm thinking that should seal the deal. Thanks for the info.

We have stayed at the Intercontinental the last two years and there are always taxis out front and available. It is a great hotel.

Great to hear, everything I read online looks great. Did you go for a bay view room? If so, was it worth it? I can just see myself waking up and seeing all the ships, I'd be just like my kids were on Christmas morning. We usually stick to Hilton properties and as such this would be a bit of a "branch out" for us. Hilton Miami Downtown looks less than underwhelming, so I can't say I'd lose any sleep over it.

  14. Thanks so much Jetsgo!! :) I appreciate your help. Also, another question if you don't mind. Did you use their hotel shuttle to pick you up from the airport last year or did you have a cab or rental?

We used the Hampton shuttle to get from the airport to the hotel. Free of course and direct.

Getting from FLL to an MIA area hotel will take 45-60+ minutes and you will still be 15-20 minutes from the port. The last time I checked the few shuttles that would make the run charged about $35 per person for the trip. The Blue Lagoon area is okay, but there are some budget hotels near MIA that are not in an area that is as attractive.

We're planning to use Uber to get from FLL to wherever we stay in Miami, so I'm not too concerned about shuttles for that portion. Estimates range from $40-$55 total. I'm concerned about getting to the Port if we choose to stay in Downtown. How prevalent are taxis when you and 10k other people are trying to get into the port? No one seems to run a shuttle from the downtown hotels (that I can find), but plenty run from the airport hotels.

  15. Arriving that late into FLL I would stay near there - comparable hotels are cheaper near FLL than in Miami/Miami Beach and the transport will be much easier the next day.

We sail on April 5. We stayed at the Embassy Suites on 17th in FLL back in 2011 when we sailed out of FLL and found it to be alright. We need to be in Miami though. I checked FLL prices and they are actually a bit higher than MIA, I would guess that's related to Spring Break.

    I would stay downtown Miami.

Whatever you decide, please don't stay at the Miami airport. It is an abysmal area and not a great way to start your vaycay.

What are some reasons you would stay in downtown over the airport? Would they apply to someone arriving so late into MIA? We've stayed out at the airport before and it was just fine, so I will have to respectfully disagree that it's abysmal.

What did you think of the Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon? How much was the cost for them to shuttle you to the port? And Blue Herron, is this in the location you recommend to stay away from? We have our rooms booked in July for here.

I am doing the math today on whether or not it will be a better deal to just fly into MIA instead of FLL. It only is saving us $212 at this point. I can totally eliminate a rental car too and go with a dependable transport company I am thinking. I am glad I found your post, I want to know what others say :) You have me wanting to wake up to a room with a view now.

Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon was fantastic. Everything you would expect from a quality Hampton. There was a great Cuban restaurant across the street in the Publix center which was a treat for us West Coasters where Cubans are borderline non-existent. The shuttle to the Port was contracted out through another company. It was $10/pp payable to the hotel at check-in in exchange for a voucher to be used the following morning. There were two departure times, both of which were a nonstop ride over to the Port.

  16. We're sailing out of Miami in April and wondering which area we should be staying in? We arrive into FLL at 4:30p, so I'm not expecting to be in Miami before 6:00p. Would it be worth the cost to stay downtown as opposed to the airport? How readily available are taxis at the bigger downtown hotels such as the Intercontinental (appears to have fantastic views of the Port)? In 2013 we flew into MIA and stayed at the Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon which worked out great with an additional cost shuttle to the port. I'd be willing to do it again, however staying downtown and waking up to a view of the Port has that certain allure to it. Thoughts?

  17. We are booked at the Hampton Inn in the Blue Lagoon area for July. I got our rooms for under $100 each. I know they offer an airport shuttle but I do not know about the POM shuttle. We will be catching the shuttle from the airport( from Thrifty Car Rental) when we return our rental car. I am honestly rethinking our rental cars this morning though :confused:Thinking a van/suv type cab would be just as easier for my 6. Good luck in finding what you are looking for!!

We stayed at the Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon back in March 2013 and while they don't operate their own shuttle to the Port, they contract with a company which made the trip without any stops. We were able to make our shuttle reservation upon check-in for $10/pp payable to the hotel.

  18. Then they have recently changed, because when I called a couple of months ago, they did have the shuttle.

I'd call again if I were home.

    Sorry for the bad information.

Not a problem! Just wanted to get that update out there before anyone books based off it. We booked anyway and will find alternate transportation - it's only six miles.

I found a Hampton Inn and I found a Best Western Plus on Google.com. But I could not locate a Hampton Inn Plus in Seabrook, TX. Please clarify or send link.

    Thank you.

The hotel is called "Hampton Inn Houston NASA-Johnson Space Center." Link below:

  19. Don’t forget The Hampton Inn Plus in Seabrook.

    All are suites.

One of the closest to port.

    Reasonable prices

    Free internet

    Free breakfast

FREE shuttle to port and back.

Mon - Fri - free shuttle within 5 mile radius of Hotel

    Small store next door.

Just called and spoke to the Hampton Inn in Seabrook and they do NOT offer a free shuttle, let alone any shuttle, to/from the port or any type of 5 mile radius.

  20. Relative newbie here, so I apologize if this is common knowledge around here... We booked an aft view ocean view for our second cruise on Breeze in April 2015. It was an ES promo with 50% reduced deposit. The cruise has since been paid off but after looking around, I'm thinking I want to try a Cloud 9 interior. The price difference is only $10 total, yet Carnival won't let us switch because it's considered a downgrade. They say there will be a penalty (didn't catch how much) because we are going from an ocean view to an interior... which I get, but we're also "moving up" to Cloud 9. Any tips? The Cloud 9 balcony is well over $1k more, so that's out of the picture. Thanks for the help.
