  1. I can't believe how unrealistic SS has become with this new pricing. We are looking at 2 different cruises in the Caribbean in Jan 2025. One is a 10 day cruise on the Moon and the other is an 11 day cruise on the Moon. Before this new stuff the 10 day in a Silver suite was $20,400 and the 11 day was $21,400 doing PtP. Now the 10 day is $21,400, but the 11 day is $50,100 doing PtP. UNBELIEVABLE!!! Do they really think any sane person would fall for that? We may just fold up our tent and go elsewhere to cruise. RCL is doing a good job of ruining SS as a luxury line.

  2. I have reviewed all categories of the Nova veranda suites on both the SS website and thru youtube videos of the Nova. There is no bathtub! The large shower has a bench seat. What am I missing? I don't really care, but my lovely wife surely would. As far as I can see only the larger suites have a tub and shower.

  3. Les; Don't mean to highjack the thread, but if you have time and the internet cooperates could you tell me who the Captain, Hotel Director and Cruise Director will be for the TA starting 23 March. Thanks

  4. Les; If you're flying into Barbados the airline will most likely have the proper entry form for you to fill out prior to landing. If you're concerned about that you can also go to Google and search Barbados entry requirements. There is a link there to fill out the form online.

  5. As ggo85 said, my ticketing arrived today for my 23 Mar cruise on the Dawn. It came from SS via our TA and not directly from SS. It has not shown up on mysilversea.

  6. This morning I received an extensive e-mail from SS giving an update on the entire COVID test requirements and boarding process and procedures, as well as the updated emergency drill procedures and suite housecleaning rules for my cruise beginning 23 Mar on the Dawn. I assume that the same e-mail will be sent to folks on other cruises @ 2 weeks prior to the cruise. There should be no confusion relative to requirements after reading the e-mail.

  7. I am a month out from departure for the Silver Dawn. This morning I got the link from Barbara Zuckerman to Blacklane for my limo transport going and coming home. I found the Blacklane site very easy to work with and booked both trips easily. We'll see how that works out, but the outfit seems very professional. The link to Blacklane came from Silversea and not from our TA.

  8. Being a pilot all I need is an isle seat and a bit of extra leg room for my bad back and artificial hips. To me that's an upgrade from the terrible seats I had in the back of the bus. And, I am in Premium Economy on 3 of the four flights. At 88 I can fall asleep most anywhere and at any time!

  9. Regarding my last post, I wanted to upgrade to First on the redeye leg from PHX-MIA for cash and only for that leg. AA said I'd have to go through the ticketing agency to do it(SS). For the rest of the legs I was able to upgrade to preferred seating within the main cabin for both AA and UA at minimal cost.

  10. I did get my airline ticketing at the 60 day point 23 Jan, but SS did not communicate that to our TA as of 26 Jan. I got the info on Mysilversea and was able to upgrade my seating to move out of the cattle car rear end to preferred isle seating forward in the main cabin. Could not upgrade to business or first though. The airlines said I would have to go through the ticketing agency(SS) to do it. SS Air Dept strikes again!

  11. I passed the 60 day point yesterday, but no word yet. My TA is working the issue with SS. My flights are filling up fast and I want to do a cash upgrade with the airlines to get out of the cattle car. I can understand why SS doesn't want to ticket earlier given the problems with the airlines, but it's frustrating.

  12. Lois; Thanks! After hearing from the guest relations person at our travel agency I was relieved to hear that for my cruise( the TA in March ) I'm OK and considered fully vaccinated with just the single J&J shot and no antigen or PCR test required. I'm really excited except the my bride won't go. At 88 this one might be my swan song cruise. Have a great Dawn day!

  13. Lois; If you have a chance would you mind checking to see if Kartik, the Chief of Housekeeping will be aboard for the crossing in Mar/Apr. He was our butler on several cruises and is a good friend.

What we have experienced is that port nights are usually casual as well as the first night and the night before the end of the cruise. Sea days are usually informal other than the formal nights. Keep in mind that we don't do port to port cruises, but prefer open ocean cruising with just a couple/few port days.
