  1. We just got back from a four day trip out of Freo.

Some of the carpet, particularly up by Horizon Court, was very worn.

We had trouble with our toilet not flushing for three of the four days. Last night we had to go down to the desk as our steward was unable to get an engineer to sort our problem out for over 4hrs!

Other than these things the Sun Princess is looking good.

  2. In Nov /Dec we did Yokohama to Sydney and had a wonderful lecturer going from Darwin and down the inside of the Great Barrier Reef. His name is Pilot Wel

He held lectures, but also his commentary came over the PA and was broadcast on the tv live as we came to interesting points around the Cape.

He used to be a captain and is now a ship's pilot, and he had so much knowledge about the history of the islands.

He made the sea days very very interesting, and helped make it a very memorable cruise!

  3. Hubby bought a pair on Diamond Princess on our last cruise in Nov /Dec.

He took his marine binoculars, which are nearly 50 years old, and he had a problem focusing. He was shattered as the joy of cruising for him is sitting on the balcony with his binoculars watching the ocean.

We went to the onboard camera shop and he was very sceptical about the two different pairs they had there, but he felt that beggars could not be choosers. He chose a small pair for AUD$100 and he loves them!

Yes, they aren't as good as his old beloved 50yr old marine ones, but they are small, light and for cruising they do what he needs them to do.

He's still on the lookout for a pair of Steiner's for a reasonable price though, LOL.

I can get you the name of them later, if needed, as he keeps them in his car and is at work now.

  4. Hi there

We are cruising in Oct this year, we cruised twice last year and both times bought the all inclusive photo package

I have just checked and they are not offering it on any cruise departing from Australia or NewZealand?!

Does anyone know why and if it’s coming back? Such great value, upset it’s gone and upset they’ve excluded Australia and New Zealand only

    Hiya,

We're also in Australia and had the package when we sailed on the Diamond last November.

It is only available for a limited time when a sale comes on.

You have to be vigilant and keep logging in to your personaliser.

Maybe check in to your Roll Call and let them know to keep their eyes open as well.

Good luck as it was a great memento!

  5. As others have mentioned sign up immediately as soon as you board the ship. I recently took the tour on both the Regal and the Royal and it is $150. You get a bag of goodies at the end including a robe, photos, and a picture frame. The tour lasted three hours and I found looking into their huge refrigerator where they keep all the fresh vegetables and the quality of the food very interesting. You'll visit the medical facility and they will show you the morgue if you ask. The backstage tour, kitchen, laundry, control room and the bridge to meet the captain.

Well worth the money in my opinion.

    Howard

    We love this tour!

Be sure to not only have closed in shoes but also long pants, shorts not permitted.

Also make room in your suitcase for those little extras as the robes and frame can be quite weighty.

We were also allowed to take pictures at different points. My husband especially loved the anchor room and we got some great photos for him.

As others have stressed, get to passenger services quickly and put your name down for a cancellation if they are full. Don't be disheartened if they are full, there may be cancellations because they didn't pack the dress requirements!

  6. We nearly took an Angkor Wat overnight tour with Princess but didn't book it as it was so expensive.

I kept an eye out for a lady who took it and asked her what she thought when they returned. She was exhausted with all the travelling, and they didn't spend a lot of time at Angkor Wat.

We did it after we returned home about six months after. And so very glad we did.

Siem Reap was very inexpensive to get to from Singapore and the hotel was amazing for not a lot of money.

We spent 5 days there and it was perfect. Lots to see and very full days. We alternated one full day touring and then one quiet day.

So glad we didn't try and fit it all into an overnighter as we wouldn't have had a full day at Angkor Wat.

    Truly an amazing trip!

  8. We certainly docked there on Sapphire on the Christmas New year Cruise of 2014/2015. And The World was docked on the other side of the pier with the cruise port being at the top of some long stairs.

It all seemed to be in great condition even though the tsunami had made a mess of the houses in front of the dock.

  9. I'd love to know this too please. Never used Ezy Air before. Can see my flight in my Virgin Velocity reward website but can't see how I get my ticket or check in without a ticket number.

I actually needed to ask a cpap question of the airline and they couldn't help me as I couldn't find my ticket number.

  10. We enjoyed our slow walk around Georgetown in the afternoon after going on a private excursion in the morning.

Just outside the port lots of men yelling at us to take their taxi or tuk tuk which can be overwhelming.

Keep in mind that their footpaths are not as well maintained as some countries and you may need to walk along busy roads, which can get scary.

Also the humidity was extremely high when we went, so take clothes that consider the season. My umbrella came in very handy just to keep the sun off us.

Really really loved Georgetown, and the people were very friendly and helpful.

  11. Agree with Keith 1010, be prepared and then you won't get caught out.

We were going from Brunei to Nha Trang and got quite a bashing. The seas took the Captain by surprise.

The swell and seas were so bad that we were unable to tender at Nha Trang. This was mid December and we were told it was unusual but it does happen.
