  1. I have a question maybe someone can help me with. I have a leg injury which makes it difficult to walk in tight spaces. I am about to book a balcony on the sunshine but can't figure out which way the bed will be. I sleep on the right side (when facing the bed) and don't want to end up with it being the side next to the window as the space to walk is limited. It would be great if I could book a cabin with the right side being the side open to the couch. There are only a few cabins left on the Lido deck which i prefer and am wondering if anyone has stayed in any of these cabins available to tell me if the side I sleep on is the cabin I need to choose. (I have stayed in 9186 and that was perfect, yet 9187 was the wrong side. My choices are

9203, 9206, 9207, 9210, 9214, 9218, 9191, and 9195. Has anyone had any of those cabins so I could possible get it right?

I tried to figure out is it every other cabin that faces the opposite way? Is there a pattern? I know this may sound like a silly request but I would never be able to get up during the night if I was next to the window and would also have a hard time sleeping on the other side of the bed, lol...please help if you can.

  2. Chris -- I'm on the same cruise as you AND my husband has a need for a fridge for medical reasons (medication which must be kept refrigerated). On the advice of others that it was as simple as calling Guest Services and asking for one, I did so. That started a conversation with a snippy little GS associate who crossed my nerves the wrong direction. Long story short, No, you cannot get a fridge simply by asking for one. I was told (by more than just this associate -- I took it a couple levels above her smart-mouthed little head) that we could either hand his meds over to GS on the ship to hold (which meant he would need to go down to the GS desk each morning to retrieve his medication) or we could pay $70 for a medical cooler to keep in our room. However, when explaining the medical cooler, they were VERY clear that it was not sized/suitable to hold beverages. Which leads me to believe that many people who don't have a fridge in their staterooms are opting for this "medical cooler" and then providing feedback on it's size? Additionally, the $70 price tag seems high.

Given that this is our first cruise on Carnival (DCL and RC previously), I never even thought to ask if our stateroom has a fridge. We've just always had one. Although, the descriptions of our stateroom category online indicate that ours should have a mini-fridge but apparently no rooms on 8 have them despite the fact that our stateroom fits within that category.

If you fill out the medical form and tell them you need one for meds it will be provided for you and be in your cabin when you board. Without the proper paperwork its useless. Too many people lie and want it for beverages, so just fill out the form and you won't have a problem. I am a diabetic and carry my own little portable mini fridge (its like 12 inches long and 4 inches high ) just to keep my medication pen cool. Cost me about $50 8 years ago and I bring it on every cruise, solves the problem easily.

  3. We stayed at Country Inn & Suites this June and thought it was exactly what we needed for a pre-cruise one night stay.

I saw you stayed at country inn and suites. Can you tell me if there are any restaurants close by or in the hotel that we won't need to take a cab to? My husband has a bad knee so looking for something close enough to walk to. I know Kelsey's is next to the Radisson but wondering if there is anything near the country inn? Thanks in advance

  4. I am desperately hoping someone might be able to get a recipe for Carnival's warm chocolate melting cake -- the one that's now on the alternative menu every night. My girlfriend fell in love with it and now I want to be able to make it for her.

If anyone can help, it'd be greatly appreciated!

Here is a copy of the recipe directly from John Healds (Carnivals senior and BEST cruise director) Blog...enjoy...he says it will be added to Carnivals Cookbook soon.

    MELTING CHOCOLATE CAKE:

    1 lb Black chocolate

    1 lb Unsalted Butter

    10 ea Eggs Whole

    4 oz Sugar granulated

    5.5 oz Flour H &R

    METHOD:

    • Melt the chocolate & butter

    • Mix the eggs & sugar and whisk for few minutes, add the flour

    • Add the egg mix to the melted chocolate and mix

    • Pour the mix in a greased mould.

    • Bake directly in the oven at 200 C° for 12 minutes

Note: - Please make sure that the eggs are at room temperature and chocolate is warm enough while making the mixture
