We will also be going to Patmos in July and are planning to tour on our own. I found the following web site of hiking trails in Patmos that might interest you. http://pathsofgreece.gr/?page_id=806&lang=en

I wonder if this was driven by the free unlimited internet in O-Life sine concierge had included an internet package.

We just booked our third O cruise in July of 2018. It includes three days in Jerusalem.
We booked through a TA and felt that the three free shore excursions (each) would be a greater value than the $300pp shipboard credit.
Did we do the right thing?
Note that for our first two O cruises we booked our (superb) shore excursions through our travel agent, so we have no feel for the quality of Oceania's. My wife and I are in our early 50's, very active.
Advice appreciated!
I appreciate this thread and this will be our first O cruise--My wife and I are also in our early 50s and active so I hope we cross paths. Our TA's understanding is that that the shore excursions is for tours up to $200 each tour pp.

I was stationed in Bavaria (one hour south of Munich) from 2006-2008. My personal favorite is from the Andechs Monastery http://www.andechs.de/en/brewery/ near Munich--Best to go there and have the Schweinehaxe with a liter of Double Bock (have someone else drive back. Most people take a pilgrimage to the Hofbrauhaus--go when it opens at 9:00am with the locals for Brotzeit and have weisswurst and a helles (no-one judges). The Augustiner Beer hall is a little nicer with a less touristy atmosphere
