  1. We did the land tour/cruise two years ago. Loved Captain Cook hotel. Had a great time in Anchorage. Great city. We did the Segway tour which I highly recommend. WE also did the Harv and Marv Whale Watching. That was amazing. We are going back to Alaska but round trip from Seattle this time on the Ruby. We are going to do Harv & Marv again.

  2. We have stayed in the Courtyard on 2nd Ave. We liked it. The other one is further away from downtown.

There were bars and restaurants close to the 2nd Ave Courtyard and you can walk anywhere form there

Thank you for the information. I really appreciate it.

  3. there are some pros and cons to each. The 2nd ave location is a bit removed from the downtown core and more in the courthouse part of town. The Westlake location is South Lk union and on the streetcar line to downtown which makes it pretty easy to get around. Its near the Amazon headquarters and walkable to Space Needle and the Musuem of History and Industry at South Lk Union. Your also across from Lk Union and McCormicks which has an incredible happy hr for cheap eating. Between the two I'd prefer the Lk Union location. Also slightly closer to cruise docks

Great. Thanks for the information. I appreciate. I always have a hard time deciding where to stay when I go to a city that I am not familiar with. Thanks again.

  4. Trying to figure out where to stay in Seattle before our cruise next year. Which Courtyard do you think is better? The one located at 612 2nd Avenue or the one at Westlake Avenue, Lake Union? They both sound nice and I know they are in different areas.

I appreciate any information you can give me. Thanks.

  5. Thanks! It was a nice little place, in this alley, kind of cool!

I have been reading a lot on this site about downtown Seattle. I made a reservation at the Courtyard, downtown/Pioneer Square. Is that a good area. Now I am questioning about staying downtown. We were in Seattle back in 2009 for the night and I don't remember it being so bad. Would we be better off staying by the airport? Or is it Lake Union?

  6. We took the monorail into the city, it lets you off at Westlake Center and then it's like a 5 block walk (downhill) to get to Pike Place.

Here's me pre-trip report, you can see what we did staying further out.

I did read your review. A lot of great information. I am going to check out the underground tour. Also may try Kells Irish Pub. We like to go to the Irish Pub's in different cities. Thanks for the information.

  7. Yes, when we were there this past summer, downtown hotels were above $300/night. So, for our 4 nights, we weren't going to spend that kind of money. We got a much better deal by staying near the Space Needle. Plus, we wanted to see several things up there anyway. We could take the monorail into the downtown area when we wanted, it was perfect. And saved us probably $5-600!

We used Already There Towncar service to get to our hotel. I'd prefer to take a car service instead of a taxi, and I don't use Uber. The cost of the car was about the same as a taxi.

Great. Thanks. About how far away is the Space Needle to Pike Market?

  8. We are in the same boat, no pun intended, lol! Decided to stay a few days after our cruise (September 2017).

With the prices of hotels as they are, we did a bunch of research and found quite a few reasonably priced hotels - there are some by the Space Needle but we wanted to be closer to Pike Place Market.

Finally decided to book the Moore Hotel. Couple of blocks away from the market and seems like a pretty basic, historical hotel but what sold my wife is that the Moore Theater is supposedly haunted and the Ghost Hunters of Syfy network fame checked it out!

Thanks so much for all the the great information. I will check that hotel out. Enjoy your cruise. We sail in August.

  9. I am looking for some suggestions for hotels in downtown Seattle, walking distance to Pike's Market, etc. Something middle of the road price wise. Also need suggestions for transportation from the airport to the hotel and from the cruise to the airport. Should I take a taxi or is their a better suggestion. Also any good places to eat.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

  10. Doubletree and Marriott are next to each other and slightly closer to Bayside than the Hilton, plus both offer some rooms with a view of the port! :D

I'm partial to the Doubletree - stayed there several times while travelling on business. All three will be fine.

I would use a cab or Uber to get back from Bayside in the evening, or better yet skip Bayside and dine local. Bin 18 (18th and Biscayne) offers great tapas and an extensive wine and craft beer list; many other local dining options nearby.

Thank you so much for the help. I did like the Doubletree.

  11. I have narrowed my search down to three hotels in Miami for one night before a cruise. Wanted to get opinions on them. I like the Doubletree on North Bayshore, Hilton on Biscayne and Marriott on North Bayshore. I would like a nice hotel, close to the port and close to Bayside marketplace.

Any help, suggestions, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  12. We are sailing on the Dream in two months. Can't wait!!!! Can anyone tell me if they have laundry rooms and if so how much is it and does it take quarters or bills? Also can you send laundry out? If so do you know the price for that? We are doing the parks three days pre cruise and one day post. Just trying to figure if I want to pack lighter and wash or just bring more clothes. Of course I will probably plan to do wash but still pack way to much. LOL. Thank you for any information you can give me on this.

  13. We had a 10:45 flight out of FLL in March on a Sunday. I did worry the whole cruise that what is we miss out flight. We were past security and at our gate at 8:30. We did have a shuttle waiting for us and did the self disembark so that helped. I know on Princess they say to book your flight 4 hours after the time they arrive back to port. We were schedule back at 7 am so I thought I would be fine.

  14. We're on the same cruise 5soccer9 (remembered you from the roll call)! Parking at the terminal is currently listed for $75 ($15 per day). I'm not sure when the new $16 per day increase is happening?

We're parking at the port but will be using a 40% discount from staying at a nearby hotel for the night before. Here's the list of hotels with that option if that's something you'd want to consider.

Hello there. We are already booked at Disney the night before. Had we thought about it we could have stayed close to the port the night before. We thought we would like to be close to ship so we can get off and get on the road. We are going to spend that Friday in the park. Really looking forward to this cruise and getting away. Thanks again for the information.

  15. It depends on your desires. You can park in the terminal lot--cost is quite high (I think $20 per day) This is the closest' date=' covered, guarded, and expensive.

You can park at a private lot like Park and Cruise. They are nearby and have a shuttle to the port. Normal cost is about $6.99, there are sometimes on line sales. You DO need to reserve in advance. It is fenced, lighted, and guarded. Never heard of any problems.

Many area hotels have parking--either paid and available to all or free with a hotel stay. Most have shuttles to the port--some free, some paid. These vary in quality/security.[/quote']

Thank you. Is the one at the port called terminal 8. Is that the one right at the port?

  16. We will be sailing on the Dream in September. Where is the best place to park? I would like to park as close to the ship. I have looked on line but not sure which one is the best. Thanks.

  17. When I do my on line check in and it gives me a boarding time that is not the time that I should up at the pier? I know Carnival is now doing the check in time on line but they will only allow you arrive in that 30 minute window. Is Disney not like that? This is for the Dream. My first Disney cruise and I am a little overwhelmed. Thanks.

  18. Online check in is where all that information is asked for. Your check in window opens based on your Castaway Club level:

    Platinum/Concierge - 120 days out

    Gold - 105 days out

    Silver - 90 days out

First time DCL cruiser - 75 days out

So I can't fill anything out until the window opens - for me - first time DCL cruiser - 75 days before?

Thanks for the help on this. I thought I was doing something wrong.
