  1. I probably wouldn't as this cruise is one where you seem to be off the ship a whole lot more than you are on. On our cruise(2/23) it seemed like all of Canada had aft balconies, based upon the numerous flags draped and hung back there. It was pretty cool looking.

Yes, there was about 10 of us that had aft balconies on the Feb 23/14 sailing it was cool when we backed into port and walking to the ship, seeing all the flags!

I only used the lounger a few times, there really wasn't a lot of time to just lounge around, since the itinerary was so busy.

  2. I got home from my cruise yesterday, Carnival Valor ( had a fabolous time!). I checked my credit card while I was away and I saw that Carnival had placed their hold of $200 on my credit card. When I checked my card this morning, that amount has been removed and there is only a charge of $6.00 and change. When will the my card be processed?

  3. One hour is plenty of time to go to Timothy and back to the ship. No worries at all. It is about a ten minute drive from the port to the overlook and you will not spend more then fifteen minutes there. We took some pictures with the locals monkeys and donkey for fun then headed on our way. One hour is well within reason. As far as Taxi cost, It's 8 bucks each way per person. So your looking at around $32.00 round trip. You could prolly bargain with the drive to do $30.00 roundtrip.

Awesome thanks! There might be 5 of us ... but not quite sure. I am travelling with a big group. I cannot wait!! Hope to see some more pics from you soon :)!

  4. I wonder if it would be possible to get a taxi to go see Timothy Hill and then be back to the ship for 1:00, as we booked the snorkel / catamaran tour. Do you think we would have enough time for that? I know you said you paid $80 for the cab for the day, any idea how much it would be just for that drive?

    Thanks,

    Jen

  5. My husband and I have both had gastric bypass. We dont worry about counting calories and we both enjoy occasional alcoholic beverages. But, that being said, anything with lots of sugar like frozen drinks and ice cream is cause for major gastric upset. If you do decide to get a frozen drink, virgin or not, take it slow and make sure it isnt going to make you sick. I can usually tell within just a sip or two if something is going to agree with me or not. But, I'm 5+ years out so I know my stomach pretty well by now.

Enjoy your cruise! We find the mdr portions perfect!

Thanks ... I have had tried a few things here at home, with more sugar in it and so far, I have done okay. But, I am sure it's not something I want to test on the ship!! I am going to try drink here at home this weekend and see how that goes ... and perhaps will just stick with rum and some crystal light or something like that, if I want to have something!

  6. I know this is going to seem like a crazy question, but does anyone know where I can find the nutritional information on the frozen drinks served on the ships?

I had gastric bypass surgery a few months ago and I am prepared for eating and what my choices will be for the week, but I am trying to decide if I want to try having a virgin frozen drink, like a Miami Vice or something like that.

    Thanks,

  7. I am so glad I have come across this post! I am live in Ottawa, Ontario, so it's quite chilly here in the winters! I am going on a cruise with friends at the end of February - but I told my 14 year old son, that I will look into taking him on a cruise next summer, when he is on summer holiday. So I am happy to hear it's not all that bad!!

  8. I am looking to book a cruise for my son, my mother and I in 2015.

I have been on 2 Carnival cruises - but I am wondering if there is another one better for teenagers? My son will be 15.

Also - because he will be in Grade 10, do the prices for cruises increase over Christmas holidays and March break? What about cruising in the summer, is it really warm?

Thanks in advance for your help with my questions!

  9. I am going on the Valor in 6 weeks - with a bunch of friends. However, I was thinking in 2015 I will plan something to bring my son with me. He will be 15 at the time. I understand there is different activities for them to do - would it be possible for me to check out the teen's area, while on the Valor - even though I don't have any kids with me?

We haven't gone on a trip together and I think he would prefer a cruise as opposed to going to an All-Inclusive resort somewhere.

For those of you that have teenagers - do they like the cruising? I would be travelling with him alone ( I think), wonder if that will be an issue at all?

    Thanks,

    Jen

  10. I have been going through the forums for over a year now and I sometimes see people talk about a B2B cruise - I am just curious what exactly is that? Do you normally stay on the same ship or need to get off and get on another one?

Just curious for more information on it ... thanks :)!
