  1. She was our first cruise, it was our honeymoon in April of 84. We walked on and went Wow - look at this ship, it's huge LOL. who knew that we'd see ships the sizes they are now. We are Diamond Plus on royal, been cruising ever since our honeymoon and we still love it! We figured out that you can fit 4 Song of America size ships into the Icon

  2. Honeymooned on the Song of America in 1984, it was their biggest ship of the fleet - all 35,000 tons of it. We thought it was huge and loved every minute of that cruise. We've been cruising ever since and are D+ on Royal. I'll never forget how fabulous the customer service was back then. My husband ripped his tuxedo pants at our wedding and we were leaving the next day for our cruise, he was bringing the tux with him. Our wonderful cabin steward took his pants to a tailor off the ship and had them repaired, we thought that was amazing. Also, I had seen an amethyst ring at one of the shops but didn't buy it, the shopping person on board saw me in the shop looking at the ring. A day or so later after we obviously left port, she asked me if i bought the ring...I didn't and I regretted it. She said she remembered the ring and she could get it for me if I still wanted it. Sure enough, she called the shop and had them ship the ring to me. The ships are bigger than ever and we still love cruising, and so do our kids who are adults.

  3. Is the Anax Resort on the beach? I'm trying to decide between a day pass here or the Saint John's Resort. When I look at the pictures I can't tell if the Anax is above the beach or there are chairs set up on the beach.

  4. We came back from Paris about 2 weeks ago. We loved staying in Saint Germain, it was very convenient. Our hotel (La Villa Saint Germain) was only 2 blocks from the Seine and the Louvre was right across the river. We did a lot of walking, as people have said Paris is a very walkable city. We were fortunate to be there when the weather was so amazing, cold mornings, but warmed up by noon to temps that were comfortable for walking all day. It didn't get dark until almost 10pm, so you really have a very full day of light. We didn't take the Metro, we pretty much walked everywhere except to Versailles, we had a private tour. The gardens and fountains of Versailles are spectacular, I highly recommend going there if you have the time.

  5. I'm so glad I found this thread. I've been looking at hotels in Paris for weeks now and finally made a decision to stay in Saint Germain De Pres, I booked La Villa Saint Germain on Rue Jacob (near Cafe De Flore). I was debating between Saint Germain and the 1st Arrondisment and finally made my decision. This will be my 2nd time in Paris, I was there over 40 years ago, so it's pretty much like my first time again.

Hubby and I will be there for 4 nights next May and I'm open to any and all suggestions of places to eat, the best way to get to Versailles. We aren't big museum people, of course we'd like to see Mona at the Louve but we don't want to spend the entire day there. I'm thinking of buying the Paris pass for the museums, has anyone done that? We also would love to take a boat ride on the Seine in the evening.

  6. It was mentioned in all the news articles that the Bliss is going to have 2 pools. Does anyone know where the 2nd pool is going to be located or are they talking about the same layout they already have as on the Escape with one adult pool mid ship and the 2nd pool in the Haven. Just wondering if they are adding another pool mid ship.

  7. Has anyone been to Ischia? I'm thinking that when our ship (Symphony of the Seas) docks in Naples, that we would go to the hot springs in Ischia for the day. We were in Italy last summer and went to Pompei then, and don't want to do it again, so we thought we would try something different.

  8. I also have a Pac Safe purse and my husband has a Pac Safe backpack, they both lock securely, we had no problems in Italy last year. Never carry your actual passport, leave it in the safe and bring a copy with you and only carry enough cash for that you might need for that day.

I'm a big believer in travel insurance. 15 years ago when my son was 15, we went on a cruise and brought a friend of his with us. His appendix ruptured while we were at sea and they had to airlift him to the U.S. Naval hospital in Cuba. You never know what can happen, it's important to have the insurance.

We are traveling with friends in November who refuse to take insurance, their choice, but we will have ours!

  9. I need some help. Mr Sanchos (which I love) is booked for a private event the day we are in Cozumel, and then i figured we'd go to Nachi Cocum, but that is also booked. I've been to Paradise beach which is very nice, but has anyone been to or heard of Jungle Garden Beach Resort? It looks very nice, I'll take any suggestions :)

  10. Just got back from Maya Chan and I highly recommend it! This place is a gem in the middle of nowhere. The staff is welcoming and attentive, the food was the best. You have to make a reservation before you go, they only take 70 guests, it's not crowded, they have chairs, a sunbed and a hut ready and waiting for you.

They arrange the taxi service for you to get there and back. The roads are very bumpy, and you are going to think....where the heck am I going, but wait out the 20 minute ride and you will not be disappointed.

Yes, there is seaweed, but they do their best to rake it. Once you get past the seaweed, the ocean was calm, people were paddle boarding, kayaking and having the best time.

Next time we're in Costa Maya - we are definitely going back to Maya Chan!
