  1. The Breeze and the Dream are mostly identical and have wonderful Thermal Suites. I would say the pool is like a hot tub but not miserably hot like it is on the deck outside in the sun.  i have taken a bottle of water and a book to read (or my ipad in a waterproof case) while in the pool, sauna and loungers. I think the mask would be okay. I have never seen anyone drinking alcohol while in the rooms. Maybe someone else will answer that. They have a cool room to cool down afterwards with ice water. I am going on MG in  a few weeks and Heald has said that masks were not required in spa or gym. Enjoy!

  2. Wasn't the Legend the ship that had this odd "undersea" passageway on one of the mid-decks?  One thing I liked about the Legend was how much community space it had. I sailed before the last dry-dock and have now booked for 2021 in Europe. I was glad to see they had added Guy's since the last cruise. I also remember they had an indoor pool (it was Alaska so maybe a retractable roof?).

From what I have read and heard, the Red Frog Tiki Bar is going to be similar to the Red Frog Rum Bar, not the Red Frog Pub. I agree the Red Frog Pub has a great environment. It’s too bad Carnival’s newest ships don’t have this bar.

Oh, but there are so many bars on Mardi Gras. Surely we can find one we like. 😃

Keep in mind that as of today, you can still bring two six packs of soda on-board

So it can be two 6 packs and doesn't have to be in a 12 pack box? I am asking because I prefer ginger-ale and not always easy to find in port in case. Also FYI the gingerale on the ship is not 12oz cans. I felt cheated.

  5. I sailed on the Sunrise in September and I am not sure where all the negative reviews came from. The ship was fine. The design is a little different and requires some patience but all the amenities you expect are there. I didn't notice overcrowding anymore than any other ship I've been on. The service I received from the room steward, guest serices, dining staff, etc was the same good service I always see with Carnival. No complaints.

Both people can board separately. If the second person does not make the sail time, the first has the cabin.

I have done this several times.

And every adult in the cabin needs the drink package.

Unrelated to OP but a question all the same. I am sailing in May and my cabin mate has already decided not to go. Right now, I have not checked in to the cruise. I was told by CCL agent that changing my booking to a single would incur a penalty. I have read on here that a "no-show" is the way to go.  So, this sounds like I need to go ahead and "check-in" this cabin mate initially to avoid any extra fees. I was already paying the full fare for myself and this other person so that is not a loss to me.  Am I right in my undestaning?  Thanks.

  7. I called to take advantage of a price drop and casually mentioned I might be traveling solo on the cruise. It is a 9 night cruise out of Barcelona. I have to pay the fare whether my daughter goes or not so that doesn't worry me. The agent told me if I changed at this point (still before final payment due) there would be $800 in penalties. I find this ridiculous and hard to believe. To be safe, I may have to go with the no-show, also. I have booked several solo cruises and cannot believe it would be less expensive to book 2 in the room and then have them "no-show".

  8. I have cruised solo a few times. (Also, emtpy nester and single.) Last cruise was my first reservation at steakhouse made with the understanding that some CC roll call members wanted to be included. Although I left a note reminder at their cabin. They did not show. I ate alone at a table but the table was very close to another couple who were only on their first course and we had nice dinner conversation. I wouldn't hesitate to do this again. I am all for solo dining or anything else.  Traveling to NYC in Sept for 3 nights before Sunrise cruise. My first trip there and I am really looking forward to it and the east coast itenirary.

  9. Hello, I am on the Sept 22 sailing. Was lookin forward to sale away but I'll go with the flow. My real concern now is transportation. I am staying at a midown hotel near Empire State. Originally, figured a taxi woul be easiest to get to the pier. I have luggage and do not want to manage it on the subway. Suggestions?

Just got this email from Carnival. Won't affect us since we'll be using a car service that day, but what about the people driving in, especially if we return to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal when the cruise is over? This could turn out to be a real cluster....:classic_wacko:

What car service may I ask?

  10. So, this may be a silly/naive question but if I take a taxi from my hotel in midtown what do I need to tell the driver (will they know?) to get to the pier for a Carnival cruise?  I am solo with luggage and would rather take a taxi than public transport.

    Thanks,

  11. Thanks for the info on this thread. I am traveling in May 2020 and have always done Caribbean cruises. I didn't know if it was possible to walk off the ship and grab transport on your own as you do in the islands. It is good to know there are some options. I found a good website for the Mediterranean in general for figuring out the transport options called: Mediterranean Cruise Ports Easy.
