  1. My daughter is traveling with her 8 year-old son on a cruise in November. She has a passport he has passport card. Does anyone know if she needs a letter from the father to take the son on this cruise? There is no divorce or conflict here just don't want any last-minute surprises at the pier. Thanks in advance!

Just went through this in August. As long as they both have the same last name on their passports she will not be questioned. If she holds a different last name as her son she will then need a notarized letter from the boys father giving her permission to travel alone with him and for her to make any medical discussions God forbid something should happen.

  2. We are booked on the Royal for the October 11th voyage was wondering if anyone knows how far out they start to issue cabins??? When we booked only the guaranteed balcony cabins were available. We never booked this way before so not sure if I'm too happy with it.

    Any info is greatly appreciated!!!!:)

  3. The same thing just happened to us on our cruise. I tried complaining to everyone and then some and nothing. I was actually a little disappointed that RCCL wouldn't even go to bat for me since we were still booking just on a different date.

I would love to know the agency. They were rude and treated us like idiots.

  4. We just got off the Oasis last Saturday. The air conditioning in our cabin was not working. We had maintenance to our room several times. Their solution was to give us a fan. That's a whole other story but nonetheless my point being they are available onboard you just need to ask you steward and he/she will bring you one.

  5. Does ships management mean the stateroom attendant? Sorry to be clueless but i have connecting central park rooms balconies on upcoming cruise but didnt know if I wait to get on ship or just talk to stateroom attendant? I would like the more open balcony as well as doors open in rooms. Thanks!

Honestly, I know there is some kind of protocol the stateroom attendants have to follow but we have never been refused. We usually travel with a large group and try to get as many staterooms connecting as possible and we have opened all the balconies. The only cruise line that gave us a problem was NCL but they gave us a problem with everything and we will never sail with them again.

  6. Yes, the balcony dividers can be opened, but it's up to ship's management if it will be allowed.

Thank you...Yes I know about getting the ok from management however, we have never been refused before to have them opened. I just wasn't sure if those balconies were designed to be opened.

Thanks again...you are always such a big help!!! :)

  7. We just got off the Oasis on Saturday. We had no choice but to do the walk off because we had an early flight home. You can start getting off as early at 6:30 as long as the ship has cleared customs. They give you up to 8:00. We left our cabin at 7:45 and were in the airport at our gate by 8:30. Don't know if this was rare but exceptionally convenient and easy. I will do my own walk off from here on out. :)

  8. Checking my a/c daily, it's saying doc's not ready will email you when they are.

That's very odd. We are leaving in 16 days also and documents have been ready to print since my final payment. You better call NOW!!!!

  9. I just had to do this with my cruise that I have booked for August. TA screwed me big time and I didn't even sail yet. We choose to actually go with an agent that we have used in the past only because I trusted her. I didn't want to go with RC because they really were not any help in my situation and if my extended family wasn't booked on this cruise also I would have canceled the cruise because of the way I was treated from my original agent and RC. I did lose money and perks but the new agent was able to get us some perks so in the long run it wasn't so bad. I also wrote a letter to RC because on the original TA's website they have a picture of the Senior Vice President of Sales with a recommendation to use this booking agent. I'm sure it will be put on a pay no mind pile but I thought I would try anyway.

BTW...my experience I wouldn't pay in full until your due date if the price of the cruise drops you can get a price adjustment and if you pay in full then you have to wait for them to refund you money. Our cruise 2 years ago dropped its prices by $800 and it took us over 2 months to get my money back. Another thing we have learned from a past cruise. This is just my opinion and experience.

    Enjoy your cruise!!!

  10. You might be better to make reservations at specialty restaurants on formal nights,It just might be more formal.Or if you have my time dining book a table for 2.then you will know that all at your table are formal.

We actually like being in the MDR on formal nights but thanks for the info.

  11. I know I have seen this question time and time again on CC but I can't seem to find it so please humor me.

After final payment has been made can you get a reduction in your price if the room rate goes down?? I just noticed that our August cruise rate has dropped.

    Thank you in advance.

  12. You definitely should not do it. Your ship arrives at 7:00 but if it doesn't clear customs for whatever reason they do not allow anyone off the ship. It has happened to us one time in Ft. Lauderdale. Luckily we had extended our vacation by a few days so it didn't matter what time we got to the hotel.

Besides that I am from the area and on a good day with you being the only person on the road which is extremely unlikely its going to take you over an hour from port to airport. Why don't you try to fly out of Newark...it's much closer.
