  1. Hubby and I were booked on that cruise to celebrate his retirement. Back in August we sat down and had "the talk". Even if that cruise sailed we had no idea what it would look like. Then he told me  that he wanted to work another year because the 401k took a minor covid hit and we had to buy a new tractor. So I went online and found a 10 night Eastern Caribbean 3/21/22 on Millie and with a heavy heart I lifted and shifted. It stung a little but with hindsight being what it is, we are glad we did it. We had booked it on MLK day and got a 25$ deposit and 450$obc and premium drinks. I believe we will be vaccinated by then and we will sail for the full 10 nights.

Ok, here's my perspective. I'm assuming that I will be vaccinated by Spring 2021.  This will be from the perspective of a US passenger.  I don't see  Northern European, Mediterranean.  Asian,  South American or South Pacific in the reasonable range of options for me in 2021.  If I'm going on any of these cruises I will spend some time pre-cruise or post cruise in these regions and I don't see these areas being anything close to back to normal in 2021.  I think there will still be lockdowns, quarantines and restricted travel in these regions.  I want to get off the ship and explore on my own and I think international travel will be restricted through 2021.  I do see the Caribbean opening up in 2021 and even if the region doesn't open in 2021 for unescorted tours, I'm ok just staying on the ship in the Caribbean.  I may take a shorter 7-day cruise before  November 2021, but I'll be booking a longer 10 -12 day cruise in November.

    So that's my plan. 🙂

I hope you  are right, pee. I have a 10 night ultimate Caribbean that I lifted and shifted to late in March 2022. You gotta go too, you owe me a plastic straw!

I really don't find the rest of you concerns to be a problem for me, but you do identify one of my concerns.  Personally, I won't cruise until I'm vaccinated.  I judge the risk to be too great for me at this point  in the crisis.  However I am concerned about what happens if unvaccinated people are allowed to cruise and get infected during the cruise and I am concerned about those people potentially infecting others at the ports we visit.  I don't see any way we will be allowed to roam about the port cities freely unless the cruise lines can assure those countries we won't infect the destinations.  I think the best course of action will be for cruise lines to require people to be vaccinated and continue with pre-boarding Covid testing until the virus really subsides.

Totally agree! Get the vaccine, Get tested, Get on the ship, Get in line behind me at the bar. I'll be the one bootlegging plastic straws (kidding).

  4. Ok, I'm confused. I get the vaccine therefore I can't get the virus. If I can't get the virus, I can't spread it. Could someone please tell me why I would need to wear a mask? What is so difficult about it?  Get the shot, get on the ship. Don't want to get the shot? Go home.  That is the new normal.

  5. My big problem is that they fog my glasses and I have not ben able to adjust them to stop it. I have to wear glasses all the time and I cannot tolerate contacts. That being said I would walk around half blind on a cruise!

I think I am about ready to give up.....take the wife, dog, cat and the squirrel gun to my cave in Pooloka, TN and remember the days in the Caribbean.

You should come on down! the weather is cool and breezy, The leaves are turning colors and the springs and creeks are filling up. We have horse and hiking trails and a swimming hole with a swing about a half mile down the road.

You know what would be even more cool is if all the cruise lines opened their Private Islands up to each other.  Then we could see if the grass is greener on the other side.  More importantly, others could see if RCCL's private islands are "greener" 🙂

    Miami

    Day 1- Coco Cay

Day 2- Great Stirrup Cay (NCL)

    Day 3- At sea

    Day 4- Labadee

    Day 5- At Sea

Day 6- Half moon Cay/ Ocean Cay

    Miami

How about Amber Cove in Puerto Plata DR?

Sounds great to us, with one caveat. If you choose not to sign the form at either embarkation or anytime prior to that point after final payment, you will receive a full refund in FCC.

I think you would know the rules and decide to comply with them BEFORE you pay final payment. I would not pay all of that money without first being amenable to them. Also, if you don't agree with the rules, why would you want FCC? I mean, either you're in or you're out. Am I right?

Rather than sit in a hotel lobby we would:

request late check out and sleep in, or

leave luggage at the hotel and go buy wine, snacks to take onboard, and have brunch, or

book a 3-4 be tour with drop off at the  ship, or

rent a  car and explore the port city

go for a long walk to burn off a few of the martinis I’ll drink on day 1

Sitting in a hotel lobby for 2-4  hours waiting to head to the.port would start the cruise on a downer so we would find a way to make use of the time.

All good ideas, jelayne. When cruising does resume, there will be some changes. We as passengers are just going to think outside the box and roll with it. I for one will try my best to be compliant and will be grateful just to be there.

  10. I called my TA and lift & shifted from a 10 night Caribbean on Reflection in April 2021 to a slightly different itinerary on Millennium in March 2022. It seems like we have to wait FOREVER!

Has anyone been on Millennium post revolution? I'd love to know what people think of the changes that were made. Our cabin is one of the new ones on the Resort deck. (1008). I know it is smaller than other balcony cabins but there was not much left to choose from.

    Cheers! Lisa

  11. When we lift & shifted from Reflection in 2021 to Millennium in 2022, we booked one of the cabins on deck 10 that was added during her revolution. They started out as aqua cabins then changed to 2C verandah cabins. We are in #2008. Has anyone stayed in one of these cabins? If so, are there any differences between them and a regular verandah?

  12. Well, Hubby and I sat down and had "the talk". You all know the one...The pros and cons of Lift & Shift.

I said "If Reflection sails in April, I will be aboard, vaccine or no vaccine".  He said " I don't want to be quarantined at sea" . I said "It will make the cruise longer". He was not amused. He said "I don't want to wear a mask everywhere". I said "neither do I". So I called the TA, she made the switch, helped us pick a cabin on Millennium for a 10 night Ultimate Caribbean in March of 2022. Whew! Glad that's over with. I gotta admit it still stings a little but I believe it has relieved some stress as well.

    Cheers! Lisa
