    Many years ago, we became platinum but haven't cruised Carnival for several years (been cruising other lines). Best gifts were packing cubes (that I still use) and a Nike baseball hat with "Carnival" on it (which I still wear to the farm). That said, does anyone know what the current gifts are? We'll be on the Dream for a Thanksgiving family cruise.

    JH just put up that it is changing to a small kit bag - no picture yet.

    A friend is going on the Conquest. She is gluten and dairy free. What are her options?

    I let them know under dietary restrictions. I am only gluten intolerant but I do fine. Every night in main dining room- I stay over a few minutes to pick out from the next days menu what I want for dinner the next night.  Works out great. The food is marked for gluten free on the buffet.  My favorite spot on deck is the Blue iguana.  They have a jalapeño wrap which I believe is corn and not hot to me. Love that.

  3. page 3 I did try the water slide. I followed a little girl’s example of holding the bar and letting my self lie on the water. The first time when I rode on a film of water, the ride was awesome. The next time I could feel the joints in the slide (grin – my weight was against me and I was probably not relaxed and straight) it is a fun slide. Sunny days are the best. Reading a book in the lounger on deck is probably a highlight of the trip as well as is not worrying about how much meals will cost. I arrived back home feeling all relaxed. Debarkation was smooth. We did choose to let the crew take our bags off the ship and just waited for our deck to be called. There was no line to speak of. We simply picked up our bags and turned in our forms to the desk. We then walked to the left off the ship to our waiting taxi. Our driver took us back to our car at the BW. {We had followed the instructions from another cruiser about who to use and he was excellent}

    It is a good choice. You can tell that this is the shortest cruise we have been on but it is a fun time. Questions: Can you wait for the next one..

  4. page 2 Our first port was Freeport. Having been here before – I had reserved the ship excursion before we left home. I usually choose other providers but the Carnival excursions were comparable to the ones that we saw online and the price was competitive. It was nice to not worry about the time as ship excursions deliver you back to the ship. We chose the Mangrove kayak trip with beach time. You really must work well with your partner as the tidal currents play with your kayak at times. The person in the front will see the tide and know that the kayak is about to be drawn into the branches but the person “Controlling” the back cannot see this happening so.. Expect to be accused of hindering progress as you try to guide the kayak past the grabbing limbs. Your choice to warn them of the impending doom from the hanging limb that you cannot move. I did so and his head was saved as he layed down in the kayak. The beach was one that was used in the pirate movies, as it is large at low tide and very white. Be warned that it is a wet beach so your towel will not help. Lunch is provided in picnic style and very good. Our guide was very nice and helpful.

    The next day in Nassau; I did get off the ship early and got to shop. I recommend you attend the shopping talk on your day at sea and get the maps etc. I picked up some jewelry and the Nassau charm for my bracelet. We chose the Catamaran ride so we got off the ship again about 11am. The catamaran did not seem too crowded and they did get just enough sunshine to highlight the coral. My photos turned out pretty well. Water always looks clear and blue but cameras always interpret it as light green, sigh so my colored pictures are often disappointing. {I miss Kodachrome - age showing grin} The day on the water was simply lovely and the crew was very nice. I would recommend this trip for everyone.

    One more day on the ship. The comedians were good. I enjoyed the second one the most. The dance show seemed short but I think that it is because I enjoyed it so much.

  5. When is your next cruise?

    Review of Fantasy out of Charleston SC

    We decided at the last minute to take a cruise. My husband liked the fact that we could drive to the port. We chose to stay at BW as it was offering to let us leave our car there and as it is winter there are fewer people traveling to Charleston right now. The next morning we got up and our taxi came and got us there at a reasonable time. We still had to ride the bus the short distance to the ship but the embarkation line went smoothly and we were soon on the ship.

    This is my 9 th Cruise as you can see from my signature; I enjoy Carnival. The thing I like most is it is a dependable vacation. The ship is always well kept and this time was as expected. The room was small but I knew that going in and I did not mind not having a balcony as it is cold until you get to Florida. I did take a set up decoration to personalize the table in the corner and towel animals appeared as expected. See, the little things are what I look forward to.

    The weather was nice on our 5-day trip. The dressy dinner was nice. I did not see many people not dressed for dinner. We had the late dinner and kept it as we enjoyed our tablemates. It was their first large cruise although they had taken many trips to Europe. I think they were encouraged by this trip to go to the Caribbean and see other islands.
