Severa roll call members elected to book directly, they decided for the several hundred dollar price difference compared to the Viking excursion they could walk from the shuttle bus stop to the train station and buy their own cinnamon roll and coffee. We will also be doing the DIY Arctic Train trip in August.  Can you ask Scott about his trip to the train station from the cruise port.  How far did he have to walk from the shuttle bus stop in town to the train station?  Thank you for posting, can't wait for our trip.

Did you do anything else in Lofoten, (since the ship is docked until very late).  Is there a free shuttle from the port?

I was on the first cruise to Longyearbyen, June 1 & 2 and did both included excursions.  The second included boat trip opened up while on board May 31.  We were able to sign up for the boat trip for Day 2 and did the other included excursion on Day 1.

 

Thanks for the information, we are on this same cruise August 21.  Was wondering if you could tell us which ports in Norway had Shuttles to center of town?

I found out there was a policy change and that Onboard Credit can now be applied toward gratuities aboard the Viking ocean cruises.

We were able to use ours for gratuities.

Did you use your onboard credit for gratuities on a Viking Ocean Cruise?

I know that we were not able to use our onboard credit on a Viking River cruise for gratuities.
