  1. Some ships do not have refrigerators in all the cabins.

    What ship are you on?

I’m on the Ms. Zuiderdam and that’s very interesting to know! I would always assume there would be a refrigerator in the room. I’m going to check this now...

    Thanks everyone!

  2. Okay, great thanks for the info. I’ve just emailed my travel agent. I also remember them having some available but kind of remember it as being not very easy access. My cruise leaves on the 27 of June so I’m definitely cutting it close :)

  3. Does anyone know if there is good access to soy milk on board? I’ll be traveling with my 15 month old and she drinks a good amount, do I need to bring my own? We will be on a 24 day cruise so this isn’t really ideal as it would require me to bring a lot! TIA!

  4. Your location says Cayman Islands. Do you really reside there? They are a British Protectorate, so presumably your nanny would have a visa for there. Would this not also be valid for other British countries? The Shetlands belong to Scotland...EM

Right, we are all residents of the Cayman Islands, but our citizenship is Canadian (aside from our Nanny, who is Filipino).

No, unfortunately, the work permit that she holds for Cayman does not translate into a visa for any other country. Looks like more research needs to be done.

  5. Make sure you get your info in writing. This could be disastrous, as you obviously know. Can you contact the British embassy?

I have emailed my local British embassy but I’ll call them on Monday as well (we booked the cruise last minute).

I just find it odd that no one at HAL can give me a solid answer?! Surely this can’t be the first time they’ve had this situation.

  6. Hi there, our family is booked on the Northern Isles cruise which stops mostly in Iceland but has one UK stop at the Shetland Islands. We will be traveling with our awesome nanny, who is a Filipino national. She already has the Schengen visa but my question is, does she need a UK visitor visa for our stop in the Shetland Islands?

I’ve called the Visa Central company that Holland America recommended but they in turn told me to contact HAL. I’m just getting a lot of conflicting information and I don’t want to have any kind of trouble when we go to board the ship. Has anyone had a similar situation?

  7. Hi all, we are contemplating the same thing at the moment (HAL VS NCL with our children, ages 6 and 8 and we have an infant). We have done both cruise lines before, and I think the NCL definitely beats out HAL in the kids club department. That being said, for a Haven suite its almost $5000 more than a very similar HAL cruise. Has anyone done the Jewels of the Baltic cruise with their children? If so, were there quite a few other kids on board?

  8. Hi Guys,

Thanks for the super quick responses!

    Huh, interesting.

They offered it to me at 2,000 USD PP. We just took an upgrade for the Neptune suite and a day later got this. Tough decision. So tempting. I would have 100% took it with the new deck plan. Would be nice to essentially have a separate bedroom for the kids.

  9. We got offered a Pinnacle suite upgrade and would have accepted instantly, had it been on one of the signature ships. Does anyone have any experience in that suite for the Ryndam ship? It doesn't have the larger outside deck w/ whirlpool which would have been a huge perk.

We're doing the Aug 14-Aug28 Midnight Sun cruise with our two small children. Any info and recommendations would be appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!
