Ha - it would have made sense for me to give better details. We are a group of 6 women all celebrating our 60th birthdays. Mobility isn't an issue. We're all good and ready to go. We definitely have one in our group who would be happy to swim although our other port day is in Grand Cayman so it will be all about snorkeling and swimming. I think the chocolate tour is interesting but not sure its worth the time. Does anyone know if it's possible to order chocolate ahead of time? We have one in our group getting married this year and she has a connection to Mayan culture so maybe it would be fun to surprise her with something special that we can pick up at the Kao Kao Chocolate factory.
Maybe we all bring extra cash and go with the flow.

Does anyone know if this is the Chocolate tour that would be a stop with Tours Plaza?

Hi,
Six of us have a private tour booked with Tours Plaza. I've searched and read threads and there are great reviews. A lot of the reviews said the drivers had wonderful ideas for stops so it sound like a lot of people have had the drivers pick the stops. I'm good with that option but also curious. Eduardo emailed us a list of choices with their admission costs so we could plan ahead. We're planning on a 4-5 hour tour. The list includes:
- Short 20 min Chocolate Factory tastings: USD $4.00 per person
- 90 min Chocolate Factory tour: USD $25.00 per person
- San Gervasio mayan ruins: Adults & Kids $10.50 US
- Tequila Tasting & History Tour Mexico Lindo: Free
- Playa Palancar free, if you want to rent snorkel equipment price is $12.00 USD per person
- Punta Sur & Lighthouse: Adults $16.00 USD | Children $10.00 USD (4-12 years)
- El mirador (east side of the island) Free
If you toured with Tours Plaza what did you do? Any suggestions on stops to include or skip. Are there any stops not listed that you would include?
Suggestions are welcomed. Thanks :)

Hi,
I'm trying to find information on hotels near the Tampa Airport with shuttles to the cruise port. Any suggestions? I'm assuming we'll need one shuttle to the hotel and then one to the port the following morning. And after the cruise we'll need to get back to the airport. There will be 5 on the way down and 6 on the way back. We're all coming and going at different times so we thought a hotel near the airport made the most sense.
Thanks :)

We have a private tour booked in Bar Harbor - the tender port. We now have one person in our group recovering from a hip replacement. She is using a walker and occasional wheel chair. Is there any handicap accessible/helpful way to get on the tender or is she stuck on the ship that day?
-
Hi,
I know the weather can change quickly so I'm thinking packing includes a jacket, sweatshirt and good walking shoes. Is there anything obvious I'm overlooking?
-
Are their any restrictions for bringing and using your own regular wheel chair? It sounds like once we arrive we ask for help or directions to check in with wheelchairs and that's it - is that right?
-
I love that - rehab on a cruise. What a smart woman.
Thanks for the suggestions about a cushion - I found a much better option on Amazon. I ran it by my PT friend and she liked it too.

She's a tough cookie. She just turned 70 - surgery is today and we leave on July 27th. I was thinking about getting a cushion like you would use on a patio chair - something like this. http://www.xuuby.com/cute-cushioned-patio-chairs/patio-chair-cushions-x-home-citizen-cushions-for-patio-chairs-from-walmart-replacement-cushions-patio-chairs/ They can't more her to an accessible cabin - they're all booked with a wait list. The travel agent put a request in for a high toilet seat, shower chair and grab bar. Hopefully it all works. We have a wheelchair she could use but she probably won't want to. She's already saying she isn't going to rehab. She'll get herself up and moving - that will absolutely happen - she's a stubborn, awesome woman.

Will a shower chair fit in the shower of a regular cabin? We just saw some photos of the shower on Voyager class ships and that shower looks very tiny.

That is one tiny shower! Would a shower seat even fit?

Hi,
I'm looking for a photo of the bathroom in a balcony cabin (category D1) . One member of our group is going to be recovering from a hip replacement and as of right now she's in a regular cabin. We're working with RCCL to get a toilet riser and shower chair. We want to do anything we can to make it safe for her. We're considering traveling with a toilet riser so we want to see the shape of the toilet to see if it will fit.
thanks

Has anyone brought their own cushion for a balcony chair? One member of our group will be recovering from a total hip replacement and we want to make it as comfortable for her as possible. She may end up spending most of her time on the ship if the excursions are too hard for her. She loves to read and loves solitude so I think she'll be okay.
We're sailing on Adventure of the Seas and the ship is sold out. They are looking into the possibility of moving her to a handicap assessable cabin but that may not be possible. She's on deck 8. Does anyone know if all the bathrooms have grab bars? We asked for a toilet seat riser and shower chair. Is it reasonable to think those things will be provided or should we bring our own?
This is all new to us so we appreciate all suggestions.

Does anyone know which nights are formal nights on Adventure - July 27th sailing to Maine and Canada?
-
Hi,
I did a search for bubbles and found several threads with people talking about bringing bubbles and using them at the sail away or from their balcony. The threads were pretty old so I'm wondering if bubbles are still allowed. They would certainly be used with care - not blowing them into other passengers faces, not spilling them on the deck .... Just for fun - are they ok?
-
Really - it's the tiny bottle like they have on airplanes. It's only an ounce or two. Couldn't I just bury them in my luggage?
-
I know it's okay to bring two bottles of wine per cabin. I'm wondering if I would have any problem bringing some nips for a special toast. I know there is plenty of alcohol available on the ship but these tiny toasts are a special tradition.
Thanks :)

If they do have theme nights is it possible to find out in advance what they are?
thanks - :)

I have no idea - but I hope so :)

We booked with Dave's Taxi Tour - he was able to do a private tour for our group of 14. We opted to wander on our in Halifax. We have 4 days in port with 2 days of private tours booked and two days to wander - that seems to work well for everyone in our group :)

Looks like Whoopie Pies it is - is Two Fat Cats Bakery the place to go?
Back to Tampa airport after the cruise
in Florida Departures
Posted
Hi,
We are a group of 6 adults and we all have different returning flight times after our cruise. Times range from needing to be at the airport at 2 pm and then 7 pm. Any suggestions - Ubers, booking transportation through Carnival ($21.99 a person I think), etc? Since we'll have luggage I think we're all stuck heading back to the airport even with long waits for our departures. We looked into renting a car but it just didn't seem worth it and walking around Tampa is out because of the luggage.
What have you done that work?
Thanks
