Not sure the answer to your question, but I was able to get them to extend the expiration date of my points due to the stoppage in cruising for so long.

We’re in the same situation, accumulated lots of points and now are hoping to get them extended. Did you just call the 800 number with success or did you contact a number in particular? Thanks!

  2. We’ve had great luck with Air2Sea on Europe sailings over the years on both Celebrity and RCCL, cost-wise and service-wise. For our May 2020 Med cruise, we had unknowingly booked refundable air tickets and so we got that money back when the cruise was cancelled.  We have booked online and have also spoken to a rep (all precovid though).  After booking with air2sea, I would contact the particular airline with the airline’s confirmation number and hold specific seats.

We stayed in Tarquinia (about 10km from the port) for about 3 days before a cruise in 2019.  It is a very old walled hilltop village with Etruscan ruins - very walkable and great little local restaurants (try Pane Pelle Vino or Pears Belle Helene-  a bakery).  The owner picked us up from the airport (€50) and also drove us to the port to leave on the cruise.  Fabulous.  We stayed at the Palazzo Castellischi  https://palazzo-castelleschi-holiday-home.hotels-lazio.com/en/ which is a 1000 year-old wonderful small hotel.   Immaculate, & even has small kitchenette for breakfast or whatever.

Couldn't recommend it more highly, and we would both go back in a flash.

Thanks for this suggestion! We had planned on staying in Civitavecchia one night precruise and visiting Tarquinia the day we arrived, but this is an interesting idea instead that I’ll look into!  I’ll see if the hotel still offers FCO pickup and transport to the port.

  4. Thanks!   Quick follow up question - about how long would you expect we should plan on for exploring the necropolis area?  Should we also plan on the museum? (We know we’ll be jet lagged ) Stefano Rome Cabs said they can arrange for us to visit on our way to Civitavecchia after the airport pickup - the Tarquinia necropolis stop would be at a per hour charge and asked for a time estimate.  Thanks again!

  5. Does anyone have recent experience visiting Tarquinia either directly from Civitavecchia or on the way from FCO arrival to Civitavecchia hotel without their own car? We’ll be staying in Civitavecchia the night before our May 2022 cruise and would like to explore Tarquinia for a few hours. We haven’t yet arranged independent transport from FCO to the hotel, and wondered if this might be an option, or if there are any options for us to make our way there ourselves by train, or whether to try to arrange a ride from Civitavecchia? We’ve visited Rome in the past and I lived in Rome, so for this cruise we’ll be just staying in Civitavecchia one night before the cruise.
    Thank you!

So, if we booked our flight with Airtosea, that will also get cancelled automatically and get our money back?

We cancelled last weekend  (50%refund/50 FCC) and got our FCC email today. I called (got through in a few minutes) and asked when I’d get the actual credit to my credit card and she said within the next 7-10 days.  The rep was able to look up and tell me exactly what I’d be getting (which wasn’t the case last week when I cancelled)

We had booked Air2Sea and she said we should be getting that refund to our card in the next week as well, since our tickets were refundable.

We cancelled March 4.  Royal called March 5 to sell me another cruise.  Asking me to spend more of my $$$$$, after getting $3000 from me yesterday for nothing.

Sorry to hear! We’re on the same sailing, and I was hoping RCCL would expand their 60 policy to include our sailing, but was told yesterday no. (I had sent an email asking if we could have the same accommodation as the May 29-June 11 sailings)

They are also extending the final payment date on the European cruises. My cruise went from 90 days to 60 days. This is a very good move for RCCL.  It gives everyone time to closely monitor the situation before cancelling or going.

That’s not the case for all - ours is May 7 Explorer (flying to Rome May 5 with Air2Sea)  and based upon what I read on CC, I called, spoke to a very nice rep who checked with supervisors etc. and they actually were surprised/unaware that any European cruises were changed to 60 days final payment.
Ours is apparently not one, although it would make sense as sooner in time and we still have a few days to 60 days. Anyway, after a very long conversation, he notated our reservation and thanked me for bringing it to their attention and said they’d “escalate” the question...  I’ll check again before our 60 days is up.

  9. Hi Joanne, I haven’t booked yet, I’m not sure if we’re staying only one of two nights, but would like to stay two.  We’ve never been to Amsterdam, and I also need to figure out the logistics of getting suitcases to the hotel after the cruise, then getting us into Amsterdam, and then at some point, getting us from hotel to the airport.  (Using metro/mass transit as opposed to cabs)

So that’s my next project lol

    Thanks,

So do you pick your music or is it random?

The way they did it on Celebrity, was they had three different themed station settings (which lit up the headsets as either green, blue or red). The DJ/DJs played the songs, so as one ended, the next began. The dance floor was full of green, blue and red dancers and people singing along to different songs!  Definitely check it out if you get a chance to see if it’s something you’d enjoy!

  11. It’s actually a lot of fun! We recently came off a Celebrity ship and tried it for the first time!  We actually wished it was offered more than just a couple of nights as we love to dance! I suppose it could be better or worse, depending on the DJs choices of songs on the 3 channels, but our particular DJs were great and we really enjoyed it! Glad to hear it’s on NCL as we’ll be on the Jade in May.

  12. Thanks for your report and for posting! We’ll be on the Constellation leaving October 20 from Rome to Barcelona, with some of the same stops! We are sorry we’re missing Alejandro (were with him on a previous Summit Bermuda cruise) but glad to hear Miguel is good! How have you been enjoying the evening entertainment?

    Have a wonderful cruise!
