How many were in the inside cabin to begin with? Was there at least one 21 yr old on the cabin (at least on the reservation for that stateroom)?

The only thing I can think of is you had 3+ in the inside room and planning to shift people around once on board. The room only supports double occupancy so you got shifted.

I'd argue that they could change the named passengers for the inside to two names, move the additional people to one of your balcony rooms, and consider this a wash for all involved (unless your balcony rooms are also at capacity).

There were only two but the oldest was only 18. I wasn't aware of the rule about being over 21 and they originally let us book it like that with the kids down the hall (not directly across). The resolution is good enough for now. I work 12+ hours a day and don't have much more "fight" left in me. The travel agency won't fight for me, they stayed on the line because RCCL said they had to be on the line but they didn't say a word. Things may be done differently next time....

  2. HI all, my other post was deleted because I listed the travel agency name. I wanted to give everyone an update so below is the original post (with name removed) and our outcome thus far.

I thought I read a post about this earlier in the month but now I can’t find it.

I received an email from RCCL today stating that:

“After completing an onboard stateroom audit of Quantum of the Seas, we found a discrepancy with your stateroom's capacity requiring us to move you to a new stateroom on our July 4, 2022 sailing.”

The email goes on to say that they moved us to a deck 3 ocean view stateroom, from a deck 11 inside room with virtual balcony. We have 4 reservations so it doesn’t say which one was effected but I would assume it would be the only inside cabin we have booked. The others are all balconies so I know (or hope) they wouldn’t downgrade us.

I called XXXXX, who we booked through, and they had no record of this. They put me on hold and called RCCL. RCCL has no record of this, YET. RCCL told my XXXXX rep that the change hasn’t been made yet but it will likely happen. My rep, nor I, can wrap our heads around this….has this happened to anyone else? RCCL told us to keep checking the reservation and when the change is implemented I can call back and try to see what cabin may be available to switch to.

Aside from the stress this causes, my biggest concern is that this cabin has my kids (18 & 12) in it. I booked the specific cabin I did because its right in the same group of the other cabins on deck 11.

I know loyalty isn’t much anymore but we’re diamond members and typically cruise yearly (or more) with RCCL. Any advice or past experiences are appreciated.

    Update:

The change showed up today, spent an hour and a half on the phone but they ended up splitting my reservation to have one parent and one child in each room, and moving the inside cabin to deck 9 as opposed to deck 3. They told me I could keep calling back to try and get something on the 11th floor but I don’t have the time to spend so long on hold. Still frustrated but better than where we were originally placed

  3. Curious if you were able to fix your husbands status? I matched as Black but my husband matched as Gold, when I called I was told we did it at separate times, just wondering if you had any luck sweet talking anyone?

Also, I'm in 9205 and 9207, I'm hearing because those are extended balconies you can see into them from above, could you perhaps snap a photo of this?

Thanks! We leave in a couple of weeks. Great review!!!!

    Stephanie

  4. If you are cruising during the summer months I would do something out of Amsterdam, Copenhagen, or Southampton.

Europe is very 'crowded' during the summer and very hot. The northern ports will be crowded but you won't have the heat. For that reason I wouldn't do the Greek islands during the summer.

I'm from Florida, I'm not too worried about the heat LOL!

  5. Thank you everyone for your responses....can you tell me what you liked and didn't like about these locations. It's funny, each person recommneded each cruise, sounds like I can't go wrong. For those have done the different itineraries, which was your favorite and why? My mom and my husband love museums, me, not so much, and we're traveling with an 8 year old. Do I have to travel long distances from the ports of call to visit the actual city? etc....I love everyone's opinions so keep them coming please!!!:)

  6. Hi All! I’m Stephanie from Florida and for summer 2019 I think we are going to try a European cruise, we are diamond on RCCL so I know we’ll be doing Royal, thats about all I know. I’d like to get your opinions on the different sailings. We’d like to do 9+ nights and I’m rather open on ports. I’ve heard that the Italy cruises usually take 2 hours to actually get to the “port” ie, you obviously don’t dock in Rome. I’ve been to Florence, Rome and Venice before so it’s not imperative I go there. Scandinavia? Greece? What have your experiences been like? We are in our 40’s with an 8 year old and my mom, 67, is thinking of joining us. Any insights you can provide would be great!!!!

  7. Hi All!

I'm on the Anthem starting July 6th and I have a silly question. Usually we just unplug from everything but we're leaving my mom behind on this cruise so I want to have a way for her to contact us. Aside from using the free time we have being diamond members and the "emergency shore to ship" number is there a way without buying the Voom package. Some said that while using Royal IQ they were able to message family back home, I feel like there's more to that story but I wanted to double check with those here? Otherwise I'll just use my free diamond minutes or just ping her while we're in port.....Just Curious.

  8. Ok, What's with the Giraffe? ;p

By the way, SeaDog, after the pics of the Solarium I'm succumbing to the lure of the Anthem. I hear the call. :D But 5-night Bermuda isn't enough. 12-night would be my choice even though I vowed never to sail out of Bayonne in winter months. :(

The Solarium is adult only correct? So that means there are 3 pools - 2 are indoors. That's awesome.

We're doing 9 nights in July, I think the last time I looked there were 2 rooms left, get on it!!!!

  9. Hi All, I've been loyal to royal for some time now but have decided to dip my toe back in the Carnival waters (so to speak). We booked the Vista for March 2017, I'm curious about the following:

    1. Do we book the shows? The bigger ships on RCCL make you book show times prior to your sailing

    2. Do we book the special items like Skyride before we board?

What else should I be doing before I board as far as booking things go?

    Thanks Everyone!

    Stephanie

  10. I am just now seeing your original message. We were able to snag 3 FTTF for our March 2017 cruise when they became available. Just keep checking. For our Breeze cruise they were originally sold out. I checked multiple times daily and they eventually became available again. Don't give up!

Edit: I just realized you are on our same cruise. I did post on our roll call when they became available. Our ship seems to be, already, almost full. Just keep checking!

Now I feel like i'm even further behind. I need to join that roll call too.....Like I said earlier, this is the first time we've done Carnival as a whole family...I just want the experience to be amazing.....

I'll go get on that rollcall now...and I'll keep checking....

    Thanks!

  11. We are booked for March 2017. We have no excursions available to book. The website says this: "We are still scheduling shore excursions for this sailing. Please check back in a few days to start planning a memorable vacation." It's been saying that since we booked a month ago. Anyone know when they should become available?

FYI I just happened to check and the March sailing FTTF is sold out!!!!!! Does anyone know if they will release more of these or are we out of luck?!?!?!?

Toes, when you see this is there anyway to let me know? I'm also in a March sailing and i've never done the FTTF. We're diamond on Royal but we're giving Carnival a try again...I'm not familiar with the ins and outs of Carnival.

Thanks, my email addy is the same as my username here except i'm at yahoo.com thanks.

  13. Thanks to everyone! We did book the cruise but I figure I have time to schedule everything else. I've ordered guidebooks from AAA and have been reading thread upon thread.

We ended up booking the Radiance 7/15/2016 Northbound and are in rooms 9256 and 9254 so we have an aft corner and the last cabin on the side right next to it. I know that the balconies don't connect but I think this will still work out great for us and they are huge balconies.

My plan so far is to stay the night in Seward after we get off the ship and do one of the Fjords day cruises. Go back to the hotel, get up the next morning and explore the town and catch the evening train to Anchorage. From there.....I'm still researching.....

We are going to make it a two week trip so we can get in as much sightseeing as we can.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions!

    Stephanie

  14. Ok guys we've found a trip that ends in Seward, we have a few days, my husband wants to do a sight seeing train, so we're and what do we do now. Traveling with a 64 year old and a six year old....

    What have y'all done?

  15. Hi all! My family has decided we want to do Alaska next year for summer break but I think I may be too late.....should I have started planning long ago? We're diamond members on RCCL so that's my cruise line of choice because of the discounts. Do I go North, do I go South, my husband wants to do the train, can you guys help, I have no idea where to start (I've been reading reviews and I'm just overwhelmed). I wanted an aft balcony but it appears those are gone.....do I wait until 2017? Argh help!

    Thanks Stephanie

  16. We just recently booked the Allure but we picked a stateroom with balcony with board walk view 8327 in the aft of ship. We picked that deck level so we would be on same level as central park and some eateries and this will be our second cruise and we learned that it would be nice to just be able to get food with out elevators or stairs needed and also our room is located second to the last so we will have great seats to watch the aqua stage shows. We have never been on or seen this ship we just thought that was a great option to get best of both worlds..sea views and board walk views.IMO

Yes I've been on Allure and Oasis, you will love it. We've had a Central Park view and the Boardwalk balconies but for me, I love the Ocean, I love quite and peaceful.....I spent most of my free time (what little I had) reading and watching the sun come up....just love the ocean.

  17. Hi all, just back from the Adventure of the Seas and it was absolutely amazing. We had room 1688, which if you aren't aware, is the best D1 on the whole ship (IMO). Does anyone know of any "larger" balcony staterooms like this on the Allure or Adventure. I was really spoiled with two loungers, two chairs, and two tables! I'm mainly wondering if there are any balcony (not suite) cabins that have loungers on the Allure or Oasis.....

    Thanks!

    Stephanie
