  1. It isn't quite that simple, because you pay an additional 15% gratuity on top of the wine package! making the cheapest one £101.20

You don't pay any extra on top of the corkage fee.

I usually bring on a couple of bottles that I particularly like, and then get a package as well. That way I have a couple of bottles for particular nights (when we eat in speciality restaurants for example), and a load of relatively cheap wine for every day drinking.

Do you have to pay gratuity even if you have it all sent to your room?

  2. Seems more economical and makes better sense than paying that $15 corkage fee for every bottle you bring onboard - if you bring 4 that's already $60 plus the cost of the wine - and seems you can get a 4 bottle package for as little as $88...

Unless I suppose you are very fussy and have specific brands/types that you wish to drink onboard!

LOL I was just doing the math myself to see which way would be cheaper. If you deduct what would be the corkage fee on four bottles you are paying $7 per bottle of wine for the Enthusiast package. So the only way it would be cheaper to bring your own on board (assuming you are not picky) would be if you bought bottles that are under the $7 choice. I personally have a few wines that I do love under that price point (thank you Trader Joes!), but I don't know if the hassle is worth it or not.

  3. Curious at to what your wine options were with the CAS card?

    Appreciate any responses.

Unfortunately with Lucky or Hot status, the wine choices are (literally) red or white; both not so good. When i was Hot, I did get an ok from the host to get pinot grigio and now that I am Golden, I can pretty much order what I want.

According to the website you do not get drinks until the Hot status. Are you saying that you or others have been able to get drinks with just a Lucky status that has no minimum points?

  4. You might consider doing a private tour.

We just returned from our cruise and visited Cartagena; for about the same price ( $120 for over 3 hours), the 2 of us had a private custom designed tour. We have been to Cartagena twice before so wanted to see places in the old city and Getsemani. It was wonderful to be able to go where you wanted and still have a local that could explain the history, plus no worries about getting lost or wasting time. We were picked up at the dock and returned with no problems at all!

Can I ask who you used?

  5. I am wondering if anyone has done the NCL Old City & Spanish Fortress excursion and can share their thoughts? It takes you inside the fortress, to Las Bovedas, Plaze de Bolivar, the Inquisition Palace, the gold museam, and San Pedro Claver's Sanctuary. It is only $64 a person, but I am wondering if we are better off trying to do some of this on our own, maybe using the hop on/hop off bus?
