My letter was pretty simple looking.  in fact I had to get them to type it up twice because the first 2 times I didn't think they would pass.  it had the clinic letter head and signed by the doctor.

Yes, that's basically what mine would be... they can add whatever details I ask but it still LOOKS simple (could easily be faked I guess).

If the letter you are referring looks anything like what I saw earlier today on another social media outlet, containing most of what you stated, it may come across as anything but official, as did what I saw earlier. I've not gotten my test at CVS yet, but I'd bet on that vs something that looks like it was just typed on a Drs office letterhead with minimal information...but thats just me....

Did they reject the letter you saw someone else post?

  3. Kind of an odd question, but those of you who have had a rapid test for cruising from CVS/Walgreens etc... how detailed are the results they give you?

I was planning on getting our tests done at my employer (small doctors office) and they process their own rapid tests. The letter they give patients is just on letterhead and basically says "(pt name) received a negative antigen COVID test today" and the date (similar to a note your doctor would write you to miss work). It isn't as official looking as the Lab result which you receive for a PCR test. Wondering if this will fly or if the results I would get at CVS would look more "official". Or how closely they even look at your documentation when you check in? If anyone can provide any feedback on this I'd appreciate it!

  4. We unpack everything and store luggage under the bed. All bathroom stuff and "lose" items are stored in the over-the-door shoe rack on the bathroom door. My husband and I share the closet shelves and the kids share the drawers. Backpacks and beach bags are in the cabinets under the nightstand. Shoes are lined up against the wall, or in the floor of the closet.

I pack a pop up hamper and store it in the closet for all dirty clothes, and do laundry while on board (I like to come home with mostly clean clothes!) Wet swimsuits are hung in the shower on the clothesline.

We made our own door decorations and hung them with command hooks- or if you want to make a banner shindigz is where most people order those (to satisfy the flame retardant thing).

  5. we are traveling soon with 4 adults, 4 kids...this will be our first trip to MB, and our original plan was to just stay at the beach at the port... will we regret this? The pictures of the beach look wonderful but I've also heard that the beach is not nice. How does it compare to HMC? Tying to decide if we will regret not booking an excursion here or going to a different beach.

  6. Blow up pools and bathtubs are not allowed by Carnival... if you are flying into the port the day before, consider having diapers.com deliver diapers/wipes directly to your hotel (convenient, and saves on having to fly with an extra suitcase full of those items!), or take a days supply and then purchase locally after your flight lands. Take dish soap so that you can wash bottles or cups in the sink. Plan to do laundry once while on board- you can pack less clothes that way (I always pack a couple tide pods).

  7. Here is my review of our cruise with friends on the Carnival Magic over the summer. We visited San Juan, Amber Cove, St. Thomas, and Grand Turk. Great ship and staff. Had an awesome time!!!

Enjoyed reading your review! You mentioned you preferred other places as compared to Magens bay in St Thomas- what other beaches would you recommend instead?

  8. It's been a while since I've used MIA airport check in, but I preferred it over the seaport checkin.

I generally travel with just 1 carry on bag and arrange my flight to arrive at MIA around 10AM. I use the priority line and since I don't waste time at the carousel waiting for checked baggage, I was able to walk right up to the counter.

I've cabbed it to the sea port, waited in the priority lounge to be called for boarding, and have been unpacked and had lunch on Lido between 11:30 and noon.

I'm wondering if regular cruisers will be able to use the MIA airport checkin when assigned staggered checkin comes to MIA if their plane arrives before their allotted time window?

Thanks for the info... we are also planning to just have carry-ons, so hopefully it will be a smooth process. I'm also wondering if the staggered check in time will affect the airport check in.

  9. So we will be arriving same-day for a future carnival cruise (I know, I know... not the best idea, but flying in early wasn't an option for us, so we will just hope for the best)... I am debating whether we should check-in at the Miami airport, or just go straight to the port to check-in. Which would be better? If anyone has experience with the check-in service at the airport, please share!

I'm thinking I'll probably just eye-ball the line at the airport and decide from there, but any advice would be appreciated! We won't be using a carnival transfer, either a cab or uber to get to the port. We arrive at 11:30 and have selected the 12:00 - 12:30 check in time at the port.

  10. The cabanas for Royal Caribbean are $495

Well... there's a reason I posted this to the CARNIVAL board then...

Oh, please, don't ruin the complainer's complaint;)

Don't be rude. This wasn't a "complainers complaint" it was a) to let anyone interested know about the price increase if they didn't know already, and b) to comment on all the small changes overall. You may have noticed at the end of my post I said I will continue to cruise carnival because it is still the best value, just slightly disappointed overall by all the changes.

  11. This might be old news and I missed it... but I just noticed that the price of a Half Moon Cay cabana with Carnival has increased from $229 to $279. Bummer!

Seems like they're slowly increasing prices and decreasing benefits as a whole. Its little things like the chocolates on the pillows, and the free drink vouchers for past guests, the tablecloths, bathroom freebies, etc. Also on past cruises I've always seen price drops and had a good amount of OBC by the time we sailed- the 2 most recent cruises I have booked have not seen one single price drop since I booked them about 9 months ago. (Which may just mean I got a great deal at the time I booked it, who knows).

Still the best line price-wise for cruising, and won't affect me cruising with them in the future, but the small changes are slightly disappointing all the same.

  12. Non-smoking ships, and a better photo system. It would be nice if your photos were tied to your room card, and you could go to a kiosk of some sort to view all of your photos. Seems like that would save Carnival $ in the long run from just printing wasted pictures only to throw them away when they're not purchased. It would also save them time from having to sort and put them up/take them down every night.

  13. I'm sure you'll get a wide variety of answers. I personally wouldn't have allowed my kids to sign out at 9. I would have let them leave together if they let me know they were leaving but they would have had to stay at least in pairs (have 4 kids). I wouldn't let them run around a strange town alone and a cruise ship is essentially a floating city and like or not, not everyone on it is a good person. Also not every child is going to make the best choices all the time, especially when influenced by new friends. I at least want to know where they are and that they aren't off on their own running around the ship totally unattended for hours at a time at that age.

Yes, this is kind of my gut feeling too. If we did let him, it would probably be for the scavenger hunt ONLY, and that was why I am wondering if its done in teams or by themselves. I really don't want him wandering around by himself, but if it's with a group I might consider it...
