  1. Could someone please point me in the direction on where I can see the wording which says the 5% discount has already been applied? A friend tried to book today and the fare quoted gave a discount of less than 10%. The fare shown on the website of £2810 resulted in P&O offering a discount of £148! Thanks in advance. 2. It worked fine for me using my iPhone. Deleted the app though once I had looked at everything because it wasn’t so good when I tried the flower bit where it says if you point it at a flower you will get loads of info....

  3. We have just come off the three nighter on Ventura and it was our first time on her. Not for me: dull, depressing decor and an old fashioned Glass House. We are not pool people, we like a mix of relaxing, and venues to enjoy good food and nice drinks, plus a browse round the shops. Last month we were on Arcadia and experienced for the first time the new shop products after the change of suppliers. Disappointing. We have sailed three times on Britannia who gets my vote for first place. Did a four night cruise on Aurora but don’t recall any outstanding features. Azura three times, another favourite. Oceana next Year. We like large cabins which is why I prefer the newer, bigger ships with the exception of Iona where the cabins are small, even the conservatory mini suites are only 274 sq ft compared to 317 in a superior de luxe. I will await reviews of her and do a ship’s visit before booking.

    1. Britannia

    2. Azura

    3. Arcadia

    4. Aurora

    5. Ventura

  4. We are booked into B748 on next March’s Arabian Gulf Cruise back to Malta. We did a ship’s visit over a year ago and decided the cabins were on the small side so a mini suite was best for us. Having read a lot of comments at the time of booking, and since,I am more than happy. Any lack of sun will not be a problem as I am sure we will welcome shade on that particular cruise![emoji41][emoji924]

  5. I had noticed that all the cabins are on the small side. Superior de luxe on Azura and Ventura are 317 sq ft compared to the largest balcony on Iona (EA) at 229sq ft. Iona’s conservatory minis are 274sq ft, so I am also not sold on her yet! Will not be rushing to book. Apparently there is somewhere where it says the space per passenger on this ship is overall much smaller than others in the fleet. 🧐[emoji924]

  6. Just a few closing thoughts from me, as I feel that this thread has now run its course.

Firstly, the OP has never said that this was their honeymoon. In fact I’ve just double checked and re-read all their posts. The ‘honeymoon’ aspect was added in error by a respondent. The OP has consistently referred to it as a holiday and nothing more. Classic case of Chinese whispers! Perhaps if they said it was their honeymoon they might get more of a reaction - but it isn’t.

Secondly, as many of us have stated, whilst the cabin grade is guaranteed (as a minimum) and is therefore a condition of booking, the bed configuration is a preference and merely that. When you accept a booking without a specified cabin, you take your chances.

Finally (and I say this as someone who offered support in my responses), am I alone in getting frustrated when someone effectively joins Cruise critic to effectively complain about something, elicit lots of helpful responses from many of us, only to then vanish? The OP has not posted on this thread for almost a week now. I’m sure that many of us would have liked to know how this ended up or at least, as a courtesy, an update - even if just to say there is no update!

If the OP isn’t going to return, are we wasting our time?

I tend to agree with you on this. I have looked each day to see if there is a resolution.....

  7. I have enjoyed reading this thread. In our six years of cruising (all P&O) we have enjoyed a suite twice, plus we like the superior deluxe cabins on the larger ships as they are generous in terms of space. We have a mini suite and a suite coming up and agree with what others have said. I hope you enjoy the cruise and maybe let us know how you get on!

  8. We fly out to Dubai in March next year. We have chosen to make our own arrangements for the first two nights and are flying overnight with BA. We have paid to upgrade but there was no charge for changing the date of the flight out. We join the ship on March 22nd. Our original flight details appeared on the Cruise Personaliser some time ago. We are sticking with the return flight which is with TUI in the afternoon, back to Gatwick. There is info on visas on the P&O FAQ page but for Dubai (UAE) it will be part of your landing card process and is free, and for Oman it is handled on board.

  9. We always prefer to use CPS as their system is so easy. I looked today for the price using parking4cruises and they were much more expensive....admittedly it’s only a three nighter. £75 with parking4cruises as against £61 with CPS. I have booked with CPS. [emoji924][emoji4]

  10. I’m looking at the NYE cruises leaving in December 3019, but it is only Arcadia that calls at Amsterdam. I am hoping to book Ventura because it doesn’t stop there (and we lived in Holland for six years so not fussed about going there!), but Ventura calls at Hamburg and that would be new to us. We have been on Arcadia and have the Baltics booked for this August. We will be trying Ventura in September for a three night cruise to Le Havre and Cherbourg. We like the larger ships as they give you more dining choices on longer cruises. [emoji924][emoji4]

  11. We are booked on a March cruise Dubai to Malta. Our cruise personaliser already shows the flight out is Emirates, return with TUI. My cruise specialist at P&O knows we want to fly out with BA ahead of the cruise and spend more time in Dubai. Shelley advised me to call her in April this year to confirm the arrangements. Not too fussed about a reasonably short haul on TUI.

  12. What a pleasure to read a thread like this one, it makes a nice change! We have only cruised with P&O, since 2012. We have sailed on Aurora, Arcadia, Azura and Britannia with Oceana and Ventura lined up. We already fall into the bracket of buy in at a reasonable price and add on, as we find that by paying extra for facilities like The Retreat and all the speciality restaurants, or opting for a suite, we can find a niche for ourselves away from some of the other cruisers....with thousands of passengers on board there is bound to be a cross section of the public, some of whom you would prefer to avoid! As we spend twelve weeks of the year abroad on other holidays we are more than happy to be amongst fellow Brits, and love having our floating hotel take us to beautiful ports, as one poster said! We are looking forward to trying the new ships.

  13. Like Linda I fancied cruising as it was always something I wanted to do but hubby really did not so having a special birthday that year I said I would do a three nighter on my own. He came along of course, and I had booked lots of treats thinking I wouldn’t be cruising ever again! That was five years ago and I think seven cruises ago, all except one on P&O. We were hooked straight away. There are four cruises in the pipeline so to speak! [emoji924][emoji924]❤️❤️

  14. What didn’t you like about the suite pisces14? We have had a suite twice on Britannia and on Aurora. Having had a ship’s visit on Oceana this Spring we booked a mini aft suite on Oceana for the Arabian Gulf. We have only cruised with P&O and I am guessing maybe you think the suites are small compared to other lines? The superior de luxe cabins on P&O’s larger ships size wise are “suites”on other ships. 15. Yes I am having the same thought! We have booked an aft mini suite (B748 I think from memory) for the Arabian Gulf in March 2019! We also hate scrambling over a bath ledge!! Actually I just looked on the virtual tour part of the ship on the website and it says the mini suites do have a separate shower....

  16. It looked to me as if early savers are no longer available on every cruise, at least not until nearer sailing date. The three I have booked for August 2018, September 2018 and March 2019 currently only show select fares. The blurb on the website front page refers to booking early savers 90 days ahead which may have something to do with it.
