  1. Thanks for all of the GOOD information on this post.

I decided NOT to load the APP and instead submitted the same paperwork that I would have sent Princess via email to:           hello@stockperks.com     on 12/19/2023  @  10 am

Received notice that the OBC was posted to our cruise on  12/19/2023  @  10:50 pm

less than  13 hours from request to posting        best time ever

Once again, thanks for the info, it was much better than using Princess.

  2. Prior to covid I had taken an Alaska cruise out of Vancouver but flew into Seattle (seatac).

Princess had a transfer system from the airport to the ship that took about 3 hours including going through Canadian customs.

Does anyone know if Princess is still offering that transfer service?  I am planning to take another Alaska cruise out of Vancouver and would like to use it, it was very convenient.

  3. We are booked on this cruise , but I am second guessing that decision.

I noticed that there are VERY FEW balcony rooms still available for this voyage (Princess website) when compared to the week previous and the 2 weeks after.  Without actually counting, I would say there are 20 TIMES the number of balcony cabins available on those other weeks when comparing to May 7 voyage.

What is up with this voyage:    is Princess 'holding' a ton of rooms?

is it some 'special' grouppy cruise that I don't want to be part of?

does someone know something I don't?

I would appreciate a response if you know why or if you just have a guess.

The Ruby is fine. We are booked for 3 upcoming cruises on her from Galveston. We were on her in July and aside from the rust on the hull of the ship , it was wonderful. Skywalker's Lounge is great.

I saw did not see anything dirty - this is an older ship but everything we experienced was just fine. Our cabin had no issues.

We actually like the older ships better than the newest ones.

Give Galveston a try - the fares are great!

    thank you for replying

  5. We sailed on her earlier this year and I thought it's condition was terrible.  Everything seemed dirty and old, the sailing wasn't very full so I asked to change cabins because of its condition, the second was just OK.

The entire outside of the ship looked very rusty and old.

If anyone has sailed on her in August, September or October I would appreciate your evaluation of her condition.

Galveston would be a good port for us to use, but Ruby is the only offering.

    Welcome to the club.

We have one booking left with Princess, as we weren't about to walk away from some hefty future cruise credits.

If the on board experience is anything like our sailing last April, this could very well be the last time we sail with Princess until things change.

The Little Mary Sunshines should be around any second to tell you how fabulous everything is when they sail. Don't let them get to you, they are in their own little world.

I am in the same boat, I have more than enough FCC to take a free cruise, maybe even 2.  But if we take it at all, it will definitely be our LAST with Princess.  If we go, it will be our 40th cruise with Princess.  We started with Princess in 1995 and they have steadily gone downhill, but for us they have hit the bottom.  We enjoy other cruise lines far better these days.

  8. In May on the Crown Princess (Seattle) I used the service that Princess was advertising to get our luggage from the ship to our home airport at not cost, it was called 'Port Valet'.  Princess pushed it on the ship and it sounded good to me (no cost, no bother) so I decided to use it.  My take away is that it was a DISASTER.  The airlines blamed Princess and of course Princess blamed both the system and the airline.  As it turned out, IT WAS ALL PRINCESS FAULT.  I will never again use any luggage service where Princess is involved in any way.  I will carry my luggage on the ship and be a 'walk off' taking my own luggage. It is a hassle, but I know I have my luggage.

We disembarked May 14 and I am still waiting for a refund. Not refundable OBC but purchased OBC with my own money. In the past it has frequently taken up to a month but we are at 6 weeks and counting now.

I also have a problem in that we used our FCD’s to book but the big box store agent forget to call Princess when booking to have the FCD’s applied. Thus we didn’t get $100 each off the booking price for using our FCD’s. Big Box store called right away after payment and the OBC for using FCD’s was applied but still no $100 each refund. Onboard the cruise the Future Cruise Consultant said oh they probably just gave you the OBC and left your FCD for future use but then as he looked it up he concluded “no they didn’t”. It was used and removed. Said to call Big Box store which I did and they said I would get an email about it from Princess within 5 days… 35-40 days ago now. At this point in time the $200 isn’t worth the hours on hold only to be cut off before the problem is resolved. Been there, done that too many times with this cruise.

I disembarked May 28 and received full OBC on July 6

  10. I tried to use PV on our recent Crown cruise (may 14) what a mistake that was.  I filled out the paperwork and turned it in on time and was told all was OK, but after that was given the run around by Princess at every inquiry.  They kept telling me my boarding passes and luggage tags would be arriving that last evening and to keep waiting for them.  By 11:00 pm I told our cabin steward (he was ready to go off duty) who went and got us regular Princess colored tags to pick them up in the terminal when we got off of the ship.

We picked up our luggage in the terminal and went to the airport.  When checking our luggage we were told that we had already checked our luggage, why are we now adding more.  After a considerable hassle we were able to get the airline to accept our luggage, I think the airline was concerned that we were going to claim lost luggage (the original bags) when they didn't arrive at home.

I know I will not be trying to use it again.  It sounded like a great idea but turned ugly for me.

I have repeatedly asked for the source and it has never been provided. It's one thing for an analyst capable of dissecting & analyzing the current quarterly report; it's another thing for someone on a non-investment chat site unaware of how to read that report to circulate another unconfirmed person's qualifications opinion as verifiable truth.

I don't know Cruising Deacon's qualifications. They might be a CFA. Or they might be an ordinary pedestrian investor afraid as they see a normal market correction. I also don't know another poster's qualification who asked if LEAPS and shorts were the same thing. But I'm pretty sure they aren't an options trader.

All I'm saying is Please be aware of the qualifications of the person you are taking investment advice from.

This board is a great source for cruising advice / a lousy source of investment advice

My only qualification is that I am a long time Elite member with Princess, which is the only line I have cruised with in the last 20 years.  Over recent years I have felt that Princess had gone from GOOD to FAIR, but after cruises earlier this year, in my opinion they have now gone to POOR.  I doubt that I will ever sail with them again.

  12. With online chat abounding regarding CCL possibly filing for bankruptcy, the future for Princess etc looks bleak.  If you look at the recent breakup of Crystal, the creditors and mortgage holders will end up taking whatever little the bankruptcy gets, the stockholders of will get nothing.

With the $20 B debt that CCL is carrying, even the mortgage holders will be lucky to get pennies on the dollar.  How many companies out there want to buy cruise ships that are quickly becoming worthless, and the scrap yards are already full of them.  Fortunately I have gotten my money's worth out of those shares between the dividends and the OBC', but it really bites me that their management hasn't done a better job.  I was on the Crown recently, no one who sails it will ever return.

  13. We were on the Crown for two weeks (May 14-28) you can read my review.  To keep it short, we have sailed our last 40+ cruises with Princess, but it is now time to either quit cruising (winning right now) or trying other lines.  This was NOT A VACATION and definitely NOT A CRUISE VACATION, when you pay full price for what you are told you are getting and the seller delivers something far inferior why would I spend my money with them again.  And of course the reason why it was so inferior was because of decisions by Princess (or CCL) to give less and charge more.   The Crown had these same propulsion issues long before the COVID-PAUSE, yet they not only did nothing about it, but put the ship back in service knowing that if it was able to limp along, the cruise they were offering would not be delivered.

Cheated doesn't even come close to what we experienced, and all of the others on those cruises as well.  Princess has been sinking for some time, but now it is like the Titanic - - SUNK.

I do not know if anyone can answer this but I would love to hear your thoughts/opinions. What changes overnight from May, June & July cruises, with the changes of ports and times in port and the omission of the inside passage and then the August and September cruises are the original ports, times (with the exception of leaving Seattle at 3pm instead of 4pm) and still includes the inside passage?  My son thinks they are waiting until after final payment (due at the end of this month) to announce the changes for August and September. I am the eternal optomist and I am hoping they are simply confident they will have the propulsion issues fixed by then. ☺️.What are your thoughts? As for me, I am going to have a wonderful time no matter what they do😁

I think your son is smarter than you think, the problems are NOT going to correct themselves.

Thank you so much for sharing !  These schedule changes are beyond ridiculous but you seem to be handling it very well !  I hope I am as patient and understanding next week 🙂  Thanks again !!

We are booked on the Crown the next two weeks.  Tomorrow is our go/nogo date, we will see if things go OK today, although it doesn't look to me like they are going to make Skagway by 2:30, more like 6:00, if that is the case I think I'll be cancelling.  I booked these to see Alaska, not just be near it.
