We were the first people on the first tender a few weeks ago on the Magic, but we had a Villa booked. If you want to get off of the ship early (and don't have a Villa or Cabana booked), here is what you do:  around 3 pm the day before, they will put out the tender tickets in Ocean Plaza.  You just need to get in line and snag the time that you would like.  I was there playing trivia and the #1 and #2 tickets were there for awhile, as not a lot of people were lined up initially.

Great Tip!!!  Exactly what I was looking for!!  THANKS!!!

  2. Sailing in three weeks on the Magic and just wondering if anyone can provide some insight/advice on the boarding process for the tenders going to Half Moon Cay?  I have heard that it can be a cluster trying to obtain a boarding number and they only have a couple of tenders available.  Any tips for getting early boarding numbers WITHOUT Priority Boarding or Faster to the Fun?  THANKS!!!

HMC is owned by Holland America, not by Carnival. Carnival only uses it when its available. Holland America gets first dibs.

There's a simple reason Cheers isn't available. All orders are written down, not put in a computer, so there's no way to track usage on the island. They aren't put into the computer until everyone is back on the ship.

Writing orders down and charging them to your Sail and Sign account after the fact sounds like there is an opening for accounting errors.  Has anyone experienced "over charges" on their account from Half Moon Cay purchases?

  4. Do you mean if there is a further issue? Because there is currently a failure that is preventing full speed. Even on one propeller, the ship will do 12-14 knots, maybe more. Right now, she should be able to make 16-18 knots.

Sorry...I guess I wasn't very clear....with THIS propulsion issue, I wonder how quick they can get the ship out of harms way. But I would "assume" if there was ANY chance of running into bad weather they would decide early on to change the itinerary and head to another location. THANKS!

  5. A concern for me would be if there is a propulsion issue, and bad weather was approaching, how quickly can they move the ship out of the area? I would hate to be stuck in bad weather due to mechanical issues with the ship! I realize that they continuously monitor the weather but sudden changes can occur that may require a quick change of plans by the crew. If they can't navigate at full speed it could be an issue!

  6. On my last cruise out of San Juan with this itinerary (2 years ago), there was a large number of Puerto Rican families on board which was speculated to be due to resident discounts at port locations in an attempt to fill the ship to capacity. Did you happen to notice if this was the case on your cruise?

  7. I realize that FTTF will allow you to debark earlier than others, but will it allow you to debark at any time that you want? For example, could I choose to debark at 9:00AM - 10:00AM since I have no reason to be at the airport for an early flight back home?
