  1. We booked our first ever B2B on Navigator for next December. Less than a week after booking (as of Tuesday) the first sailing (12/2/18) has been removed from the website and is showing sold out or N/A on all the booking websites.

I'm assuming this means the leg of the sailing has been chartered. What is the usual time frame for them to contact us and do they offer anything or price protect for another ship?

Yes, be patient and wait. I think it took 3 to 4 weeks before they contacted us, but it all worked out in the end. This was last April and also our first B2B :)

  2. How is everyone doing?

My cruise embarks on July 30. I have thus far lost 30 of the 50 pounds I need to lose. No complaints; I feel so much better, have much better activity tolerance etc.

But as I am not to where I eventually want to be, I don't want to blow it all on the cruise. In the past when I've lost weight (yeah, lost 40, gained it all back; lost 50 gained most back) my demise has always started with a vacation where I just figure, "Hey, I'm on vacation. I'll just eat whatever I want and get back on track when I get home." But for me, once I go down that road I have a super hard time getting back on track and that's where I start piling on the weight.

So I am looking for your strategies for not gaining weight while on the cruise. I guess I've decided that for me, this cruise needs to be about the experiences, rather than good food. Fortunately our cruise is a very port intensive cruise and we will be very busy, so I think I can be successful with this. But I am interested in things any of you may have done in the past to stay on your weight loss program. I'll take any and all ideas...

    Some I've come up with:

    1. Walk, walk, walk. Take the stairs whenever possible.

    2. Drink water rather than pop/alcohol. I will allow 1-2 margaritas per week, as they are too delicious to pass up

    3. Breakfast via room service so I'm not faced with an entire buffet of temptation. Breakfast should be eggs/fruit, allowing once a week splurge on something like a waffle (we are on a 3 week cruise)

    Any other ideas anyone has?

You have a good plan in place! I don't usually gain more than maybe 5 lbs while cruising because we stay active and take the stairs almost always.

  4. I believe there is a "download" option that works. I went in through a friend's computer and was able to download it. Again its a PDF document, so I assume you all have a PDF reader installed.

Clicked the "download" button under the whoops, didn't work statement and was able to download and open the pdf's. Thanks so much Rick!! Now that I have them on my computer, if someone else was having problems and needs them let me know and I'll get them to you.

  5. I too have been staying away from soda and trying to drink more water I am also cutting my morning coffee in favor of tea at work. We have several variety's at work and today decided to have green tea without sugar. It tasted horrible will try other flavors or bring from home. Not sacrificing taste for weight..I work in a large facility and am responsible for the building and machinery so have ample opportunity to get excersize during the day and drink lots of water. I have an app on the phone LG health that tracks my steps and I frequently am able to get my 10,000 steps in and that's before I come home and go to PF.. Sue take it one day at a time and its going to get easier as we all continue to lose.. Think not only how much better your going to feel, but how much better you will look and feel.... JRS1962 congrats on reaching the 25lb mark, that in itself is quite an accomplishment. Wish you continued success toward your goal. Cruisingfor5 when I was in the military we had to drink two glasses of water at every meal before we touched our food, of course that was hot and San Antonio but try and find a way to stay hydrated. How long have you been vegan?

Thank you! I didn't actually realize that I had lost that much until I was looking at my weigh ins on my phone apps. I have been so on again off again that even though I knew I was down 1 pant size, I didn't realize how much I had actually lost LOL

  6. I have never liked soda my weakness is ice tea I had been putting 1 cup sugar in 2 quart pitcher now I'm down to 1/2 cup of sugar and I limit myself to 1 glass a day. Usually in afternoon as a pick up

I, unfortunately, don't do as well when I try to limit. But, I agree with the theory and think its a great way to go as long as you can stick to your plan =)

  7. Having trouble getting motivated to exercise. I just want to hibernate:) water is also hard to get in with all this cold weather. I get some but not my 8 glasses minimum that I should. Eating isn't too much of an issue for me since I am vegan and don't really crave much like I use too before being vegan.

I also struggle with getting all my water in. But I did stop drinking soda cold turkey and try to get as much water as I think of. Figure it's a step in the right direction.

  8. ...and my reservation has returned as well. Crown & Anchor will be getting a call from me today. I haven't gotten my official e-mail notification from RCI acknowledging the cancellation yet, although it appears others on our sailing have.

Teeara, I did a "fake" booking on your sailing...and while I realize it's a 9-nighter, it was a bit steep for my wallet. RCI would have to give me a whole lotta help to book this as a replacement for the cancelled one, LOL! Doubtful they will do that!

It was super affordable (per day rate) when it was first listed as an available sailing, but then the price went pretty high. If they offer you a "same price per day" type of deal it might make the 9 night affordable again? Who knows what they'll decide to do for us:confused:

  9. Just received this email from RCI in response to my question about the "rumored" Zumba cruise:

"We have reached out to your Resolutions Team on your behalf and have verified that this sailing has in fact been chartered and is no longer available for booking. They have advised that the booking will need to be cancelled. Kindly contact our Reservations Department directly at 800-327-6700 to cancel the reservation. We apologize for any disappointment this response may bring and appreciate your understanding."

    Well, that's not very helpful!!

I reached out again to my travel agent and this is the info she sent me -

    HI Jonny,

We just have to be a little patientJ I spoke with Crown and Anchor and they have informed me that they are still working on the details. Usually they will offer an onboard credit and protect your rate on another ship. Looks like it should not be too much longer.

Sorry, I wish I had more to tell you. But the minute I hear from them, I will contact you.

If you do want to secure some space on another ship, that should not be a problem when we make the changes. You would just have to put a separate deposit down and the other deposit can be moved as well, when that time comes.

  10. You're right. Looks as though RCI is trying to stuff as many on this sailing as they can for as MUCH as they can charge.

I can NOW see why it was more advantageous for RCI to cancel our sailings in favor of the chartered Zumba group. Look at the price chart! There's no way I'd have paid for a 5-day sailing at that pricing. Just trying to determine now whether I should wait to hear officially from RCCL and see whether they'll offer a "deal", or just forget about it and re-book another sailing right now?

I was wondering the same thing and asked some friends that cruise frequently. They highly suggested that I wait until Royal Caribbean contact contacts us. At the very least we should get some shipboard credit on whatever replacement Cruise they offer and or we pick.

  11. Germanfflyer, you could very well be correct in your assessment. I just can't figure out why it's so difficult for RCI to simply be honest about it and TELL us what the issue is. That way those (like yourself) who have other things hanging in the balance, can adjust their plans accordingly. I'm already checking out alternate sailings around that same date, just in case...

We are also looking at alternatives....haven't made airline reservations yet thank goodness. We were looking forward to our first back 2 back but we could also just do the 9 day only. Guess time will tell
