  1. Has anyone had experience of the OBC promotion earlier this year in the UK which offered OBC to be used to purchase shore excursions? I believe there was some discussion as to whether in practice  this was actually being shown separately in onboard accounts or if it was being allowed for any onboard purchases.

I have now received an email headed “ Booking Modification “ and informing me that due to a change in my reservation my offer has been cancelled. I have no idea what they are talking about as I have made no changes since making the booking.

The introduction of this scheme is a ridiculous shambles and not worth spending my time on it.

I did enquire why my bid had been cancelled, using the email address Bonnie kindly provided. The response I have just received from the Azamara Upgrade Team states they are “not sure” why I was sent a “cancellation email notification “ but they have double checked the system and my bid is still showing. No apology.

I appreciate that a well run business needs to maximise revenues and control costs and all things change over time. However, change needs to be transparent and well managed if the support of loyal customers is to be maintained. As I said previously, this is just a shambles.

It is fortunate that the possibility of an upgrade is not a consideration for me when making a booking, just a nice bonus if it comes along.

  3. I also received this survey request. When trying to complete it, I only got to the 4th question regarding household income when it told me I had completed the survey. Perhaps my income is not sufficient for them to be interested in my views!

  4. Having applied under this new scheme for upgrades for two upcoming cruises l received responses for both informing me I was not eligible. Despite this, shortly afterwards I received emails inviting me to submit bids for both cruises. I submitted modest offers and received acknowledgements that they had been received.

Me too, but it doesn’t explain why I am not eligible. As Phil says, there may be no cabins left but surely that should be explained.  Is it me that is not eligible 😪 or are there no cabins left 🧐

It seems that I’m also not eligible for either of the two cruises I have coming up. No explanation was provided but the response suggests I should check again when within 90 days of departure. Both cruises are already due to depart within the next 90 days and final payments were made sometime ago.

I just tied to access the new upgrade web page.  I entered my reservation ID, last name of the primary person on the booking, and clicked Submit.  The same page re-displayed with no message or confirmation whatsoever.  I have no idea if this request/submission was received by Azamara.   (By the way, I also tried to enter the last name of the secondary person the booking and got the same result.)

Bonnie- is this the way the new page/site should work?  I wouldn't think so? Shouldn't there be some message or confirmation displayed?

The same thing happened to me when I entered my name and reservation number.

  7. I never received any direct responses to my emails to azadatabase,  but two promotional emails arrived in January and a further one recently announcing the appointment of Captain Pelle.

Hopefully this means I’m back on the database and just hope it lasts this time.

What I would particularly like to receive is details of additions to the list of cruises with reduced single supplements. A new selection appeared on the UK website this week and as a result I have made a couple of bookings. I just wish I didn’t have to keep checking the website to find these offers.

Hi Hants52, yes there has been lots of progress made. Though for some reason the UK market has more than its proportional share of the no-email complaints. I believe they are looking at each case individually. So please do write in with your particulars.

I have heard one clue that surprised me...if an AZ guest has opted out of receiving marketing emails from any of our sister companies then they'll be deemed a no-email address. That was news to me. I wouldn't be surprised if that is a major culprit. I know I unsubscribe when I receive promotional material from brands I've not done business with, just to keep the inbox clean. I believe the team is looking into how to work around that.

Thank you for your response Bonnie. I have sent off another email in the hope that I can be put back on the email list.

As far as I remember I don’t think I have ever opted out of receiving communications from any companies in the Royal Caribbean group.

  9. A lovely day today checking out the ship. Great to see some familiar faces. Lunch in Aqualina was wonderful. Hope you all enjoy the maiden voyage tomorrow.

It was good to meet you Lynda The food was really excellent , especially the fillet mignon.I just hope for tomorrow’s passengers that they get the air conditioning sorted in Aqualina. We were just about to step off the ship to leave when we were physically dragged into Mosaic by old friend Michael the barman who insisted on making coffees. Then several other old friends appeared to greet us. It’s a lovely new ship but still retains that great friendly Azamara experience and amazing crew.

  10. Just back from the Quest. The only opera was a tenor singing at the White Night party. No short plays and just one show under the 54Below at Sea branding. This just seemed a silly gimmick with the bar staff wearing braces and bow ties. The show was an American lady in her 80s.

Not to our taste I’m afraid and we joined many others in quickly leaving the lounge.

Other shows were performed by the Cruise Director, the assistant CD, and the four members of the Quest singers. We didn’t watch these, preferring to watch the sunsets.

On a more positive note, there was an enjoyable show by a concert pianist and good music in the Living Room and Spirits provided by the Sparkling Trio/Duo.

  11. Hi Bonnie,

Welcome back to work if you are not still cruising.

Looks like even the slot machines have gone.

Can you confirm this for me as we used to while away an hour on the 1 cent machines.

I note you confirm no baths in Owners suites but deck plans still show

    • Marble master bath with tub and shower.
    • Can you confirm what Azamara propose to offer to those of us who have been misled re facilities in these suites since last October.
    • Thanks

Personally I should be glad to see the slot machines removed from all 3 ships. It can be difficult to have a conversation at Spirits bar with awful amusement arcade sounds blaring out behind you.
  12. We were really looking forward to this event, but were mortified to have to spend the afternoon trapped on a train outside Waterloo station following a trackside fire. What should have been a one hour journey took nearly four hours and didn’t even get us to Waterloo.

To add insult to injury, when trying to complete the journey by bus from Clapham Junction, the bus terminated early at Vauxhall. By then it was far too late and we gave up only to face a nightmare trying to get a train back.

Apologies to the organisers for our non attendance.

  13. Off topic, but I just received a questionnaire from Royal Caribbean related to our Azamara cruises and our interest in various ports.

Pleased they wanted my opinion, dutifully filled it out, and at the completion had to pretend I lived in the closest state in the USA: New York (no option for Canadian provinces).

Hope citizens of that state don't mind me claiming that status. :)

I had the same questionnaire, after spending 10 minutes filling it in it asked which state I lived in. As I live in the U.K., this was not appropriate but I could not proceed without choosing a state. I closed it down. A complete waste of my time.

I also failed to receive a post cruise survey after one of my cruises earlier this year when I travelled solo.
