  1. We used Dyea Dave back in 14, awesome service, are tour guide even saw the wife and I running to catch up with the ship because we asked to be dropped off at some of the shops before heading back, but we ended up going down the wrong pier that looked like it would take us to the ship, but nope. So at that point we where cutting it to close for comfort and turned into the running people that are sprinting for the ship. Like I mentioned, she recognized us and said hope back in, (she was empty at this point and probably headed back to camp) and she took us right up to the ship.

Great company all around, the tour was fantastic with stops where ever we asked to stop pretty much.

  2. We are scheduled to go to Tracy Arm this July, and I'm actually kind of hoping we will go to Endicott instead. We've been to Tracy Arm 3 times and only really got close to the glacier once. The other two times, we could only barely see it in the distance. I'd rather go to Endicott and have a good chance of seeing Dawes glacier than have another poor glimpse of Sawyer glacier.

This is a good point, I would much rather be able to get close to the glacier, rather then having to you the binoculars to catch a glimpse of one,

  3. Doesn't look to terrible but I am not a captain either, we didn't book an excursion because I figured by now we would be seeing large ships going in,

    Looks amazing though

  4. The wife and I are set to board the Explorer next Friday(16th) for our Alaska cruise, I have been watching numerous ships that are scheduled to visit Tracy Arm, but keep going to Endicott instead. Is Tracy Arm getting close to being able to navigate ? We are set to visit there the 20th and were really looking forward to seeing.

Hoping in the next two weeks they are able to travel in,

  5. Kind of an odd question, but the wife and I are leaving on the Explorer in a couple weeks, and after our last cruise in March, we were reminded how awful the beds can be, so my question is there anything that Royal has that can help with this, ex extra padding or mattress pad. Or do we just need to bring something on our own.

    Thanks

  6. Going through the Alaska Railroad site, price is 105 a person, We don't book anything through the cruise line other then the cruise itself.

Everyone has there own preference whether it be driving or riding a bus, I just preferred the train, Lots of room to move, they handle the luggage and the fact you get to just look out the huge window and enjoy the ride.

Walking distance to ship once in Seward, and a quick taxi ride to the train station while in Anchorage, like shadowmeboy had said.

What ever you choose, have a great time, only 21 more days till we are back in Alaska!

  7. My husband and I will be docking from the Northbound Radiance ship on June 6th in Seward at 6am. Our flight leaves out of Anchorage at 230am on the 7th. We are debating between staying in Seward and taking the train to Anchorage at 6pm-10p, then heading to the airport and hanging out until our flight or taking the Royal train at 7am and having the majority of the day in Anchorage.

We are 27&26 years old and very active people.

Any thoughts? Spend most of our day in Seward or Anchorage?
