  1. 10 days away and we still haven't figured out what to do in each of our ports. I'm cruising with my mom who will be using a scooter while on the ship. We are also bringing her wheelchair so I can use it with her during excursions. It would be easier to fold a wheelchair up and put it onto a bus or taxi than the scooter. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to do while in GC? She can walk short distances so one or two stairs are okay but nothing more.  Would it be worth it to hire a taxi driver to show us around the island?

  2. We have rented a golf cart from a vendor just outside the port in Grand Turk. Does anyone know if we will be able to drive the golf cart into the port after we pick it up? My mom will be using a scooter on this trip and we are hoping if we can help her get to the end of the pier, we could pick her up in the golf cart to drive around the island.

  3. I'm not that familiar with staying in NYC but when my daughter and I took a long weekend vacation to NYC we stayed on Staten Island (Hampton Inn I think) and drove to the Staten Island Ferry terminal. The ferry is free and I think parking was only $20 for the day. The Staten Island Ferry will drop you off right next to the ferry for the Statue of Liberty (the ferry rides right by the Statue). After the SOL tour you can jump right on the subway system and take it further into the city or jump on one of the tour buses, they stop right there.

You'd still need to figure out where to park your car for the cruise, if you don't want to park right at the terminal.

  4. Four years we visited Grand Turk and rented three golf carts from Nathans. I've been reading reviews on the other vendors and things don't look very good for most of them. I haven't found any recent reviews for Nathan's. Has anyone rented from them in 2018? I will be traveling with my mother who is semi-disabled (walks with a walker) and was looking for something fun for her to do - we are not beach people. We are really hoping to rent the golf carts but I'm nervous about how unreliable they are.

  5. Cid, just what goes into a spicy margarita? I have heard 2 stories about them, 1 LOVED them and another said it was the worse thing that they have ever tasted. A margarita is my go-to drink, so I would be interested to know what they taste like. Thanks in advance.

Me too. I'm not a big drinker but we're going on the Breeze next Sunday and since I don't have to be the DD, I plan on doing some drinking.

  6. Thanks! I emailed them and while they were slow to respond, they answered all questions and once I filled out the online reservation request, they called me with details & instructions about where to meet the shuttle. So far, so good. Of course I'll report back after our adventure with more details!

How did your ATV tour go? My husband and I are looking at booking one and we're not sure if we want to do it through Carnival or book on our own.

  7. We did this same tour in October, off from the Imagination. We booked it the night before we docked. The people I were traveling with had never been on an Everglade air boat tour before and they loved it. I went on one in February from the Carnival Pride when we docked in Cape Canaveral. We rented a car and drove to Christmas, FL and took an air boat ride there - it was by far more fun than the one outside of FLL.

  8. Thanks for letting us know what you did in Nassau. We were there in February and did a tour through Carnival (Island and Glass bottom boat tour). This time around we'll have our older children with us (22 & 19) and my in-laws. We're looking for something that will fulfill everyone's wants.

  9. Stay in a group. Don't flaunt your money or jewels. Don't walk home from a bar drunk by yourself and you should be okay. I was there in October and had heard rumors about the crime also and was reassurred that the majority of targets are people wandering alone at night.

  10. What if you don't book ES, as it's not an option, but you see the price drop by $300 per stateroom?

I filled out the form and was denied. I've only paid my $150 per person deposit so far. Would or could I be better off making a change to my reservation, incurring the $50 service fee, and rebooking under the cheaper rate?

The rooms right beside us are still available. We currently have three cabins booked. That's $900!
