  1. We flew from Manchester with Vueling in September. The queue was quite long but they had plenty of staff and check in was perfectly smooth. Just needed our passports, nothing else was asked for. We were seated together. With Vueling from Barcelona in June we were not but bizarrely I had 2 empty seats beside me so hubs joined me! Just be aware that the carry on luggage is the underseat size.  We saw people being charged extra when they had standard 10kg size carry on wheelies. The planes seemed new, were clean and left on time. All good

So lovely to see a live post from you. You remain one of our ‘go to’ sources for factual information…I particularly remember your list of how to spend OBC!

Looking forward to following you experience on board. It is several years now since we were on board Refection…The only real question I have is about maintenance. A few recent reviews on different ships have reported rooms and areas as being more shabby than chic…How would you rate the decoration, fixtures and soft furnishings on Reflection? Is she still in good condition?

We disembarked yesterday. The ship was in good shape generally. We were on deck 8 in June and our room sofa had been recovered. Our deck 6 room this trip was still the original rust coloured sofa and looked … well just old and dated really, as were the carpets.  The curtains looked tatty, the dressing gowns were well worn. The public areas still look pretty good to me and there was the usual attention to cleaning, vacuuming etc. My biggest disappointment was the menu. Mash with everything …. and served luke warm. On one occasion actually cold! On the last evening there were 3 pasta dishes! And lots of soup on the starters. Sometimes 3 of those. Obviously as they are inexpensive options. A few night they offered ‘specials’  and the butter chicken was very good. The waiters were great. . I made a point of trying a small taster of hot food in OV every lunchtime. The only thing which was acceptably hot was fresh from the oven pizza. Lunchtime chicken dishes were using small drumsticks, not breast. Salads and bread very good. OV ice cream still delish.  All in all we had a lovely holiday. We got a good deal so no real complaints but I am not sure Celebrity should call themselves luxury nowadays.

@rivieraraver I would suggest you get a free app like White Noise Lite, which can generate a variety of background white noise (self-contained; doesn't require internet). Try it out a few weeks before your cruise so you can get used to it. It really works to smooth out any discrete noises so they just blend right in.

We actually got a noise machine after our first Reflection cruise in 2019 after using fans to create our own white noise since the ship clanked and groaned all night. Got used to the white noise camouflage--now we can't get to sleep when it is dead silent!

I will look into that… thank you

Being ABOVE the kitchens and dining areas is not a problem.  Being BELOW the galley could be.  You will be fine.  EM

Yes…thank you…  I think we need to calm down and just look forward to the treat of another cruise 😀

If there is a cabin that you feel is a better location still available, you should be able to change to that cabin. I have seen many reports of folks who have done that.

  6. We are regular Reflection cruisers in a verandah and for the first time we have booked a guarantee as it was a good price and we wanted to squeeze another reasonably priced trip in this summer. It seemed like a great idea but now we are not so sure. We have been allocated 6128 and now we are worried. It seems to be over the kitchens on deck 5 and we are concerned about early morning/late night noise. Does anyone have experience of this cabin pls?  We have looked at the sticky and it isn’t on there. TIA

  7. Hi all. We are regular Celebrity cruisers but are considering Princess out of Southampton to avoid potential flying issues. Just wondering if the position of the bed, ie by balcony or bathroom, alternates as they do on S class Celebrity ships?  I can only find pics of balcony rooms with bed by the bathroom. Any info would be welcome. Many thanks

  8. Glad you had such a great time. We love the Reflection too.  I wonder if you could give me some info please. We have to pay our final payment next week for our Reflection cruise in August and have been reading the awful experiences of people quarantined with Covid (not on Reflection) in the last few weeks. All seems to have quietened down re covid and associated problems on CC. Do you know if there were many cases on board. Was there a lot of coughing going on, people not reporting illness etc!?  We are from UK too and we have avoided infection up to now and tbh don’t really think about it now, but I am concerned about potentially being quarantined in an ocean view😳

  9. Hi All

I have just booked this  cabin and have looked extensively to try to establish exactly what the view is from the obstructed balcony.  I am hoping it does not have the big white metal pillar/support thingys at the ends of the lifeboat as they seem to come right in the centre of the balcony view. Advice from anyone who has stayed in this room would be greatly appreciated as I believe there are still some other available cabins at the moment so potentially we could move. Other, better, room number suggestions would be good and any other relevant info would be great.  I have worked out (I hope) that the bed is by the balcony which is what we prefer. Also  I have read about noise issues on deck 6.   We have not cruised below deck 8 before, but this year we want to save a few pounds but I am a little nervous, as is possibly obvious to all!

    Many thanks in anticipation, Jan

  10. Neither can anyone else. At constant velocity there is no force acting on a body. What we refer to as a "sense of motion" is actually the force of acceleration acting on the body (remember F=MA?). Since unlike planes, cars, fishing boats, etc., cruise ships accelerate very slowly (due to their size) the acceleration force is very small. Once they achieve cruising speed there is no longer any forward acceleration or resulting force. The motion you do feel on a cruise ship is pitch and roll due to wave action. This is what causes sea sickness. It is the result of angular acceleration as the waves cause the ship to roll side to side, and front to back (as opposed to linear acceleration due to speeding up or slowing down). The truth is that, without any external reference, when you're on a cruise ship in heavy seas you're being jostled about but you can't tell if the boat is at a dead stop or cruising at normal speed.

Many thanks for the excellent information 👍

  11. We have always had bed by balcony on the port side but for reasons of sun and views this year want to move to a starboard cabin on Reflection. If we have a bed by balcony as usual are we guaranteed to be travelling feet first whilst in bed? We spent one night in a bed by the bathroom due to an issue in our cabin and remember (I think) that we were travelling head first on that occasion. Is there a general rule in this regard? Thanks in anticipation.

  12. We have stayed in there and don't remember any view obstructions. The left hand wall of the balcony is metal rather than opaque glass. The space is slightly larger than a normal balcony. We have had a standard balcony since though as we didn't think it was worth the extra cost. Very quiet as no passing traffic really.

  13. Hello. We have booked this cabin as we have been assured that the bed is by the balcony but reading other threads on how to work this out I am not convinced. The spreadsheet does not mention this cabin and is very sparse on Reflection info altogether. I would be most grateful if anyone who has stayed in this cabin or maybe the adjacent ones could confirm. Many thanks in anticipation. Jan
