  1. I did a request through the online portal, but heard nothing back, so a bit after two weeks later, I emailed the form again. I received an automatic reply email immediately.

After the email it only took two days, and then the OBC was applied. One day after that, I got an email confirmation as well.

Thank you for your review! We will be on this sailing in a couple of weeks. In Dubrovnik, was the bus easy to use? Where are the bus stops in relation to the Pile Gate and the port? Did you need to pay in Kuna?

We walked into town and took the bus back - the bus station is just outside the Pile Gate. There were about four(?) different bus lines running back to the port, but with quite good signs in english.

Price was 12 kunas if you bought tickets in the little kiosk, 15 onboard the bus.

The bus bus stop for the port was the main bus terminal, “Autobusni Kolodvor”, just 50 or 100 meters from the ship.

Do you recall the name of the company used in Kotor?

    thanks!

The company was called “Kotor boat tours”, they leave from park Slobode, directly to the north of where the tenders dock, just a few minutes away. There is at least three different tour operators next to each other there, and they all seemed happy to accommodate walk-ins as well when we were there.

Thanks for your review.  We sailed Connie two years ago out of Venice and had a wonderful time.  Our only occasional complaint was slow bar service.  How was it for your cruise?

The martini bar was quite crowded most nights (more so than our previous cruises on the M class), so we ended up sitting at the tables along the “aisle” (corridor?), but service was very quick for us. One of the waiters for the tables learned our drink preference about halfway through the cruise and then always asked if we wanted our usual.

Service at the pool and top deck bars were very quick throughout.

  5. We did select dining, and always prefer a table for 2. Jacklin, the maitre d’, did an amazing job getting us a table quickly even when they where very busy.

We are happy sitting in different sections on different nights, so I think that might’ve made it easier to find a table quickly for us. On 1 night of the 11 we had to wait and were given a pager (about 20 minutes waiting), but I believe that other parties might have had longer waits on some nights.

The busiest period on our on our cruise was between 7:15 and 8:15, before and after that there was rarely any waiting time for anyone as far as we could tell.

  6. On a related note, I’ve found that the strictness on confiscating wine (holding until the end of the cruise) brought on during ports of call varies a lot, probably depending on the itinerary.

We just got off the Constellation this morning, after cruising Venice to Rome, and throughout the cruise we could bring wine on board through security without any issue.

(We always bring want to wine home from our travels as a memory for later on, and never open any bottles onboard, but of course Celebrity has no way of knowing that)

  7.

After disembarking Constellation this morning, my wife wrote a quick review. She’s having trouble getting it posted here, so here it is from my account instead:

Here’s a short review about our cruise in the Mediterranean. We are a scandinavian couple in our mid thirties and early forties. We just finished our cruise and are sitting in the airport. It was a great cruise and have a post cruise depression already...;) We like Celebrity, 10 + cruises on Celebrity but have tried Royal, Oceania, MSC and Carnival too. We have done many cruises in the Mediterranean and are used to doing things on our own and use the public transportation (or walk!)

We stayed two nights in Venice pre cruise. It was a budget alternative, bed and breakfast Dalla Mora 166 euros for two nights. Adequate, good location and friendly staff. We would recommend to others. Good value for money but quite basic! Easy to get to the port from Dalla Mora. Couple of bridges and then the people mover to port.

We had two dinners in Venice, first one, a more old-fashioned place was called Osteria alla Bifora. Classic venetian food, no frills but good. Located in a square with loads of students hanging out as it’s just around the corner from the university. No need to make reservations here.

Second one was Estro. Delicious, modern food and great tasting menu! They have a huge wine list and are more than happy to pair local wines by the glass with the dishes.

We also tried couple of cicchetti bars. Please try a cicchetti and a glass of local wine. Great way to feel more local life. Venice is very touristic so you need to search for the more local spots.

    Ports

Koper- We took the local bus to Piran and Portoroz. Beautiful towns and nice walk by the sea. Very easy to do on your own. Koper is a small city, you only need an hour or two to walk around.

Rijeka - We just walked around. Nice little town and easy to get to from the port. The walk up to the castle is well worth the effort, with lovely views from the top. Free entry to the castle.

Dubrovnik - We hiked from the port up to the Imperial fortress (took us around 1 hour and 20-30 minutes from the port to the top, but we’re reasonably fit) and then down to the old town. A refreshing drink at the Buza bar in old town with lovely view. Local bus back to port. Really easy and inexpensive, 1.20 euros. No need for cruise shuttle for 12 euros.

Kotor- Our fellow cruise critic member Pooja (thank you!) arranged a very nice boat excursion in Kotor. Early morning and beautiful views when sitting in a boat and seeing the sights like Perast, Lady Rock and the caves. Cost was 36 euros per person.

Malta- My husband went scuba diving. It was wreckdiving. The company is called Dive Systems Malta and the cost for the day was round 130 e with transfer (and nitrox) included. He enjoyed it a lot and recommends the company to others. I took a long walk in Valetta. Lovely city.

Catania - Our favourite. Such a nice city with interesting buzzling market and local delicacies. We wandered round in the city and had great time. Don’t miss it!

Naples -We have been in Napoli many times. This time we wandered round and ate lunch at the Gino e Toto Sorbillo pizzeria. Such an experience! One hour wait to get a table but so worth it! Once ordered, the pizzas arrived in just a few minutes. It is one of the best pizza restaurants in Neaples. Two pizzas, wine, water and a small dessert cost us 30 euros for two. Nothing fancy but so delicious.

Airport transfer- We arranged a transfer to the airport through roll call. 130 euros for 6 people. Company is called Elegant taxi. Very easy to use!

    The ship, food and entertainment.

Constellation is a well kept ship. We didn’t notice much wear and tear. It doesn’t have the same restaurant alternatives as S-class ships do, so we skipped the specialty restaurants this time. We actually ate all the dinners in MDR and had great meals every night. Service was good. We ate at different sections with different waiters. Service was a bit slow sometimes but mostly good - some evenings all the guests seem to arrive at the same time and then the waiters and other staff had a hard time coping. Sommeliers were mostly good. We had the classic package and found the wine choices decent. Food was at good quality and we found it a be a bit better than last time.

We ate breakfast at Aqua spa cafe every morning. Calmer experience and you could get greek yoghurt and fresh berries with your musli. Delicious! Very good healthier energy bars at breakfast. Nice to skip the Oceanview and have a quieter breakfast.

Entertainment - Very good! A lot of music everywhere. Shows were good and we specielly enjoyed Miss Connolly (spelling?) who was a finalist in UK Voice. Beautiful voice! Cruise director Alejandro had great dance classes by the pool. Fun to watch!

All in all, enjoyable cruise and good value (found a good deal!) Celebrity continues to deliver great product for a good price. We have noticed some cutbacks (less staff in mdr and bars) but still find Celebrity good value if you find a good deal. M-class ships often have good offers on oceanview staterooms. We have enjoyed our last couple of cruises in oceanview cabins too and noticed that it is a good value for money.

If you have any comments or questions we will be happy to answer.

  8. Hi travellerin1984' date=' thank you for your review. As far as I know, Chandon is the best quality sparkling wine you can get with a premium package. It's a good quality sparkling wine, but not champagne, which is way more expensive. So I'm very interested to know which real champagne was included in the premium package.[/quote']

The champagne is Montaudon Brut. It's available in the MDR and in most, but not all, of the bars. It's listed specifically as included in the premium package in the new (much bigger) wine list in the mdr.

Occasionally we found that they were out of the champagne and offered the Chandon as a replacement, but these shortages where temporary and then the champagne was back in stock the next day.

On our cruise they had some supply problems though, and they ran out completely of several beers and wines, and we were warned that they where running low on the champagne as well. Fortunately for us they did have enough champagne. :-)

Hopefully these logistics problems where temporary problems and resolved before the next cruise started.

  9. I'm waiting to upgrade until I'm on the ship to use my OBC. Plus, I'm not sure if I want to upgrade on day one. I might wait a few days and then upgrade.

If you upgrade on the ship, do they place a sticker on your card or something? ...or doesn't it matter since they need to swipe your "sea pass" card for every drink anyway?

    Dan

Yes, they place a sticker over the pre-printed text for the classic package. Once, my upgraded sea pass was demagnetised during the cruise - and the new sea pass that guest relations made for me had the premium package printed on the actual card.

  10. I asked about this on one cruise and was told that yes, it's possible - but there's a last possible date after which new names can't be added to the manifest.

If I remember correctly I think they said that 3 days before the next cruise starts was the cut-off, but I'm not a hundred percent sure about the exact time.

  11. I HATE to ask this question but I'm finding conflicting info :o

If we got the Classic package with 1,2,3 - is it cheaper to upgrade prior to the cruise or to upgrade once on the ship. If the answer is prior - do we have to call or can it be done online. Thank you.

Upgrading is the same price prior or on the ship. You can upgrade in any bar on board. 11.50 $ pp per day either way.

  12. This summer will be our first time on Celebrity in years. We're sailing on Reflection, and I'm looking for a 10 night menu so I can plan what nights we'll dine in specialty restaurants. I tried the search function, but didn't come up with anything. TIA :).

On a galley tour we did last year they told us that celebrity vessels do a rolling 14-day menu (that doesn't reset when a new cruise starts), so it'll be really hard to know beforehand on what day of the 14 days you'll be starting...

  13. Thanks, those are good points to consider. I assumed it would be very hot, but I hadn't considered that there would be more families on board. I just had a look at the roll call for that sailing and there are indeed more children booked than I would have thought.

I just placed another 24 hour courtesy hold on a cabin (since my first one expired) to give me more time to think about it. In fact, the rate is so low that we may even book back-to-back trips as the ports of call are different.

Does anyone know how long this pricing might be in effect?

We're booked on the cruise the 10th, and the prices have been fluctuating a couple of hundred dollars up and down on a daily basis this past week, so there's no way of knowing how long they will last.

I think part of the reason these sailings have low prices is the fact that Celebrity do very few short cruises in the Med, so people in Europe haven't really caught on yet that these are available. Since americans tend to go for longer cruises I think these short ones haven't really sold that well. Lucky for us...

  14. We are currently making enhancements to the City Cruise Terminal in Southampton and seating space is extremely limited during this period.

For this reason we will not be able to accommodate guests in the terminal before 11:30 AM. In order to enhance the check-in and boarding

experience and to limit queues and waiting times, we have scheduled the below check-in appointments for our guests. Guests arriving before this

time will be asked to return at their assigned check-in time.

    Check-In Appointment

Celebrity Cruises*would like to o er the following check-in times to better enhance the check-in and boarding experience. Check-in will take

place between 11:30 AM and 3:30 PM. We encourage and recommend guests arrive at the following designated times to limit queues and wait

    times.

    *

    Deck 11 & 12 11:30 AM

    Deck 10 12:00 PM

    Deck 9 12:45 PM

    Deck 8 1:30 PM

    Deck 7 2:15 PM

    Deck 3 & 6 3:00 PM

This is what it says, just wondered how strict they will be

The way I'm reading it you would be turned away if you arrived before 11.30, but from then on it's just a recommendation to stick to the allotted times.

  15. Hi all,

we're considering the premium drinks package.. can someone answer a quick question.. can you order drinks in the main dining room on this package for example a cocktail as an apéritif or a glass of wine with dinner?

Yes. In the restaurants you can order wine for all your courses at the same time, and mineral water as well, but in bars you can only order one drink at a time on the package.

In other words, when the sommelier comes over you can order for instance a glass of sparkling wine before your meal, a glass of white for your starter and a glass of red for your main course and the sommelier will serve them at the appropriate times.

  16. Hello Everyone. We have an upcoming sailing on the Equinox with the premium drink package. Are drinks at the Molecular Bar covered by the premium package?

    Any must tries?;)

Oh yes. Have fun, just tell the bartender what kind of drinks you like - sweet, sour, strong etc - and go from there. Experiment, and if you don't like a particular drink just order something else. That's the beauty of a package...

  17. does anyone know if this type of wine is served? I have looked and looked and cannot find it anywhere.

Depends on if you are referring to the off-dry/semi-sweet Italian sparkling wine or to dessert wines from the moscato grape. They normally carry a moscato d'asti sparkling that costs around 30 $ for a 1/2-size bottle. Quite pricey for a moscato d'asti in my opinion...

I don't think they carry any moscato dessert wines, but there is a muscat de rivesaltes - the same grape but quite a different style of sweet wine from moscato. I think that one is included in the premium package, unlike the Asti above...

  18. Since our April 2013 Constellation cruise, many wines by the glass have gone up by $1.

Thanks for the info, will be drinking these wines on the Summit, March 2014.

There has been reports that at the same time that the prices of the wines went up 1$ the price cap of drink packages were raised 1$ as well, so the same wines as before seem to be included in the packages.

  19. Hello

Just decided last night to purchase underwater/waterproof camera for our upcoming cruise in which there are 5 ports of call ( Southern Caribbean) and there will be lots of snorkeling. Now I am not a big snorkeler and certainly not going to any scuba diving...My goal is to be able to take photos of the turtles, fish etc while snorkeling off the typical catamaran cruise snap photos whle wading in the lovely Caribbean sea..and also not have to take my big digital SLR to the beach .

I am not sure what to buy..There are different price points. I would prefer to spend less but do not want to buy junk. I do not need a professional camera but want something that performs decently..I noted a NIkon Coolpix S31 which is about 100.00, wondering if this is decent.

SO my simple question. Is there a particular camera one would recommend and why?

    Thanks

    Bee

The S31 is a very basic camera made to be easy to use. Generally regarded as decent in it's class I think. Since it's one of the cheapest (if not the cheapest) waterproof cameras on the market it has the drawbacks you might expect - the main one being that autofocus is slow. Image quality is also so-so and low-light images are not too good.

For me, personally, I find a sluggish auto-focus to be a deal breaker as people tend to blink or make a strange face if it takes that extra second for the camera to take the picture, but it all depends on how you want to use the camera.

If you will maybe only use the camera on a single trip and don't want to spend too much, or if you're happy with a decent but basic camera that you can take to the beach and use when snorkelling, the S31 might be just what you need. If you think you'll use the camera more often, maybe not just on the beach, or want a camera with more features and better image quality then you might want to look at a Nikon AW110 (the AW100 mentioned above's successor) or a Panasonic Lumix TS5 (FT5 in some markets) that both do quite well in the professional reviews online.

Bottom line - it all depends on how much you want to spend...
