Hi! I just received a notice from HAL that extra time should be planned to go to Logan airport due to construction.

We are staying near Government centre post cruise, will this impact us getting from the cruise port to the hotel? How long and/ easy is it to take the T to the airport? It would be the Blue Line I think? What about the Harbor water bus?Can we use Uber from the port to the hotel downtown? Thanks for any help!!!

Sure, you can take an Uber from the Cruiseport to your hotel. Time? It is what it is.

The T?  You can take the Silver Line from the Cruiseport to the airport.

IDK, I understand and agree with the justification the OP is sharing. What I don't fully understand is why, if I don't have a package, I must keep a tally of expenditures to avoid overspending.  I purchase what I want.   No tally necessary.  To be sure, we would check the folio from time to time for errors.

That's how it used to be. I purchase what I want.  At the end of your Cruise Vacation, the bill for indulging in the Spa, Playing Bingo, Enjoying FooFoo Drinks...... would be a shocker!!!!!

With a package, I like that I won't have much of a bill IF I don't go crazy playing Bingo or book a lot of Spa appointments!

This makes our cruise, All Inclusive to us.

Completely agree with this philosophy. In the old days, before packages, I used to dread the bill slipped under the door on the last day with all of the charges. It was depressing to be reminded of another $1500 or so of charges at the end of a lovely vacation.

Yes! I would call it the SPA, BAR, BINGO Bill.

When people are looking into getting the Plus or Premier package, the advice I invariably hear is to “do the math”.  If what you would otherwise spend on what is covered by the package comes out to more than $60 per day, then they say Plus is worth it.  If it comes out to more than $80 per day, then perhaps Premier would be worth it (although Plus may still be the better choice).  There is nothing wrong with this approach to the question, but I’d like to suggest another way to look at it:

if I were sailing on the Standard package, there is NO WAY I would spend more than $60/$80 on these things.  I’m too in the habit of denying myself indulgences, and I am basically cheap at heart.  Each purchase would be a struggle.  I WOULD pay the gratuities.  IMO, those are not discretionary.  I would split one internet package with my cabin mates, even if that meant I could only use WiFi at restricted times.  I would probably splurge on 12-15 alcoholic beverages over the course of a week-long cruise (which is not to say that I wouldn’t WANT more).  I would probably not buy a single specialty coffee/soda/juice/mocktail.  I like these things, but couldn’t justify the money. I wouldn’t spend to eat at casual or specialty restaurants (in my fifteen previous cruises, I’ve never paid for upcharge food), even though I would love to try some of them.  I probably WOULD pay to activate Ocean Now because I would really feel like I was missing out if I never tried that.  I would definitely not pay for premium desserts or fitness classes.

So if you take a look at all of that, it makes for a pretty basic no-frills cruise experience.  I would be fine with it.  I have been fine with it or something very much like it on every previous cruise I’ve taken.  However, by making one simple choice - to buy one of the packages - the cruise immediately switches from basic and utilitarian to bountiful and indulgent.  I will be able to eat what I want (to an extent), drink what I want, surf the net when I want, etc.  Yes, it is hard for me to make the decision to spend that kind of money.  However, once I do, I am suddenly not only free to but actually incentivized to treat myself to an experience I never would otherwise have had!  That feeling of being spoiled has a value that is not necessarily simple  to plug in to a simple math formula…

Is this a good decision?  I don’t know yet.  I’m getting ready to take my first Princess cruise under the Premier plan.  I will let you know after if I made the right choice!

WOW! You went from being frugal and checking to see if PrincessPlus would be worth it for YOU to PrincessPremier! Obviously, you did your homework and found that the VALUE was there! Good for You! You're paying for things you're gonna do anyway PLUS MORE!!!  Make those 2 Specialty Dining Reservations ASAP!

Thank you. How are they different besides the New one being new? If you have done both what would you recommend?

.....When near land you can certainly can go out on deck...

Arizona Wildcat, What does that mean, When Near Land? I have never done a TA, or long stretch to land. Is it not nice when way out a sea in a crossing or over to Hawaii? Thanks.

  7. We loved it! It made the stateroom larger. We loved the fresh air.

It was in December and the air was beautiful, maybe in a humid environment I would feel different? We left the blinds open just a little on the bottom so we would wake up gently.  (Yes a little...little noisy when sleeping, but we're used to noises at sea at night).

  8. Good question!  Been to Grand Cayman many times but always did something else besides going to the beautiful 7 mile beach!

Who's been and where on 7 mile beach to you hunker down? Did they rent chairs and umbrellas etc? Thank you and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

We had to use Sheer ID when we cruised on Holland America and had no problem. We just booked with Princess after not having cruised with them since pre-Covid, and the military discount was there right away.

That's great! So Sheer ID must link them. Thank you.

  10. GOOD FYI~

Helped a Guest sign up. Sent Form and DD214. After Registering, got verification from SheerID approved. Great!

OBC never showed up on his booked cruise. Humm... I called Princess.

Gave them Reservation number,  Name, Date of Birth, phone ..... OBC did not come over to the Reservation.

Come to find out, Guest HAD cruised with Princess YEARS ago and already HAD a Captain's Circle number.

I resent DD214 and Form and was told someone "would get back to me by the end of the day."

13 minutes later I got a Phone Call from Princess that "the OBC has been added."

The Military OBC attached to his original Captain's Circle account which was associated with an OLD Phone number that he used way back when.

I have been on at least 9  cruises on Princess since the restart and the only time we did not have Bingo was when we were in  port or in the Hawaiian Island waters

I was THRILLED to hear Sky Princess still has Bingo. As mentioned, many cruise lines have dropped it for Deal or No Deal.

Maryann2 ~ Twice a day!!!!!???? WOW! That can be costly! TY

  12. Trinitygirl  ~ it has been so informative to cruise/follow along with you.

We have never cruised on Princess before and we will be on your ship, the Sky Princess, next month! So looking forward to it!

Can you tell me what is the differences between the Soleil, Estrella and Cielo Main Dining Rooms? The Menus are the same right?

Do we HAVE to make reservations or do you think we can walk up and be seated without a long wait?

Do they have a White Night, Bingo or Zumba?

Enjoy the rest of your cruise. Enjoying your info and PHOTOS!

  13. Parking for Flynn Cruiseport Boston

Parking is now sold exclusively through Parking.com at

Massport Fargo Lot at 93 Fargo St, Boston

Cruise ship parkers will receive a FREE courtesy shuttle to and from the cruise terminal. It's a 5 minute ride, 10 depending on traffic.

  14. I was just on the Emerald Princess in Boston.

The Medallion is pretty cool. The app navigated me on each deck.

If you link your Friends or Family members, you can actually SEE where they are on the ship.

Pretty much anywhere you are on the ship you can use the App, OceanNow Delivery. Order a burger, Fries and a Beer and they will find you and bring it to you. If you get Princess PLUS, OceanNow is Free Delivery. Otherwise there is a nominal one-time access fee of $14.99 per person that gets applied to the first order.

When you walk close to your stateroom, the door unlocks.

  15. We like to pay in advance, so we don't have to deal with it and we know the Staff people are getting it.

BUT, we also choose to, give as we go, to those staff people who we feel we want to give a little extra.

If we have Special Requests for our Stateroom Attendant, we may choose to leave a little something extra at the end of the week.
