  1. Since this post kind of deals with the "fake sales", if you were looking at a cruise for next March or April and had not already booked it, would you wait until closer to book or go ahead and book now? I'm not really concerned about the room we get so I wasn't sure if the price may go down (although I realize this is like asking y'all to pull out your crystal ball, LOL). I normally book far in advance so the price is lower, but life got in the way this time.

  2. Hi everyone! I've read so many reviews and topics about the different beach club options in Costa Maya and my head is spinning. We will be in port from 9AM-6PM with three other ships in April. Maya Chan and Jamie's are both booked. I've gotten responses from Nacho's and Almaplena but I cannot figure out if we need to make reservations with one of them or if we should just try to walk up to a place? We are already booked at an AI in Cozumel, so we don't necessarily have to have all those amenities for another day. We just want somewhere that we can get two loungers, some sun and my husband can get some beers without being packed in like sardines. I'd greatly appreciate anyone's input!

  3. B4 is in the casino, so I would think B3 would be somewhere nearby. Hopefully someone can verify for you though! I also think they normally have a different muster location for people who are handicapped or have mobility issues. Guest services could probably help in your situation, that may make things easier than trying to navigate through to crowds to the correct muster.

  4. I really enjoyed reading this thread. We sail on FOS..first time on RCI in September.

HATE to hear that not much Trivia. We really enjoy playing and meeting the people who play. ALWAYS great people.

Don't like Lobster ( not much lobster in hill country of N. Alabama) so not an issue. Do want to go to Johnny Rockets....sounded nice. DO they have GRITS? Carnival does.............and they make them right. Not Runny............I LOVE shows........sound good

We eat in the MDR at early sitting. Do HATE lining up.......but that is life.

We have a Balcony on the curve on Deck 6..right by AFT elevator...Well, only two I think...AFT one. it seems nice. Hope the Balcony is a little bigger than Carnival.

I love Carnival. I love Princess. I love HAL. I loved NCL but long time since we sailed on NCL. Once on Celebrity and LOVED it. They played TRIVIA and TRI BOND all day long.

Fun to read the comparisons. I bet I like RCI too.

Royal does have grits and they are actually pretty good! I'm from Alabama also and completely understand the runny comment...I've never been unhappy with them on any of my Royal cruises!

  5. We were on the Independence last year during Hurricane Joaquin and the captain rerouted our return to Ft. Lauderdale. The hurricane was classified as a Category 3 or 4 at that time and we were headed back from an Eastern Carribean cruise. The normal route would have taken us directly through the eye, but he rerouted our course up the coast of Cuba instead. We had one rocky night, but they kept us updated on our location and the weather the entire time. So try not to worry, it will be fine!

  6. We were there on September 29th on the Indy and it got dark between 6:00 and 6:30. We were let off the ship between 4:15 and 4:30. We had plenty of time to walk to El Morro and tour the fort, then we walked around and shopped. Some shops were closing at 6:00, but the majority of shops seemed to be staying open due to the ship being in port. There were also vendors set up right outside the port that were there until at least 8:30, which is when we headed back onto the ship.

  7. We pick our cruises based on ports (trying to get as many Caribbean islands in as possible before we have kids), but have been on Freedom twice and love it! Just got back from being on her sister ship Indy on October 4th and it was great as well. The only other RCCL ship we have sailed on is Vision. We currently have three cruises booked for next year, one on Majesty and two on Serenade. Ports are much more important to us than the ship!

  8. Silly question. How do you know when the itineraries are first released for booking? I see that most RCCL cruises are out through May 2017ish, so is there a specific date when the rest of the itineraries for that year are released? We normally book at least one year out and try to book while onboard, but I'd book even further out for a good deal :)

  9. We just did self disembark this morning in Ft. Lauderdale on Independence of the Seas. We got to deck 4 around 7:00 and were off the ship in our shuttle at 7:30. They weren't supposed to start self disembark until 7:30, so I would suggest getting there early as the line started to get really long.

There are different terminals I believe, but the one we used this morning had ramps and one escalator. It was easy to maneuver the rolling suitcase and duffle bag I had, but they also had an elevator you could take if you didn't want to take the escalator.
