  1. I have got sick on the plane before a trip...wasn't for a cruise but an all inclusive vacation.  I was on the beach coughing my lungs out all week and it was awful.  I had to spend over $75.00 on medicine and didn't get to enjoy food/drinks most nights.  If you are sick, stay home.  Use your insurance to claim money back and re-book.

  2. Okay based on what everyone has mentioned I think we will take an island drive tour when we dock, then maybe hit the beach and then back on the ship later in the day....we will definitely be having a good dinner that night!

Thank you everyone for your replies, there is some great info.

In regards to liquor...I think we get some with the elite card but I can't remember exactly what it is.  But I definitely wanted to have a great set up for a birthday.

Vouchers are fine with me, I can order from room service based on what we need.

  3. Hi everyone....haven't been on Princess in 5+ years and just have a couple questions.

Looking at 10 Day Southern on Crown Princess next year (have been on Ruby and Emerald previously).

It will be my fiancé's first cruise and also his birthday while on board!  Will the ship do anything to celebrate?  I think the last birthday I had on board there was a cake at dinner, has this changed at all?

What is the limit on liquor bottles in the room?  Since it's his birthday I want options!  We aren't getting a beverage package as neither of us feel the need but I'd like to order a few bottles for the room...375ml x rum, gin, vodka, whiskey etc.  How many can I order for the room?

Also...any ideas for St Lucia?  This will be his birthday while there and I have NO idea what to do?  I have a feeling he won't want to do a guided tour, just go out ourselves which I'm okay with as long as we don't go too far from the ship.  I think he'd be okay shopping or seeing a local restaurant or bar before going back on the ship later on.  Any ideas?

    Thank you!

  4. Karaoke! My bf, now husband proposed on the Dream after he sang for me. He called me up and proposed on stage. It was on the first night of the cruise and it was a cruise filled with congratulations the rest of the cruise from crew and guests.

I LOVE the idea of doing it on the first or second night, then you get the rest of the cruise to celebrate!!!

  5. For those that do not drink all day, and also do not enjoy sugary milkshakes and pop, probably not worth it.

Unless you're going to go crazy at the night club every night, I guess.

We are not purchasing it for our cruise, there's no way we'd drink that much!

  6. Wow, 15 drinks a day?!? How many people are actually striving towards that? Could not even imagine drinking that many, even non-alcoholic with all the tons of sugar. Even bottled water, most people don't consume that much in a day. I know, I know.....vacation.

I am getting the 12 packs of water in my room for $4.50. There is NO WAY I could drink 15 drinks a day, weather that be soda, alcohol, milkshake, specialty coffee or whatever. I prefer to eat my calories than drink them. It's just not worth it for us. I will buy a bottle of in-stateroom alcohol for the whole cruise and my boyfriend will get a couple of buckets of beer.

  7. This seems like a lot of extra stuff to bring. I have travelled a lot and never brought anything like this.

My last all inclusive trip (different from a cruise, I know), people were suggesting the same things, power strips, damp rid, extra hangers, etc. Did we ever feel like we needed any of it? No. As soon as we arrived, we didn't even hang out things up, let alone spend time in the room....we were in the pool immediately!

Seems like a lot of hassle to worry about such things.

  8. The mark up is high, but no different than bottle service at a night club.

I'd rather pay the cabin mark up than the per-shot price at the bar, and enjoy the convenience of having it in cabin.

I have not brought wine on board before, but perhaps I will this time. It may be nice to enjoy on a quiet night (as if there is one haha). I am coming from Canada so will not purchase wine here. How much is a bottle of wine going to run me in Florida? Like the second cheapest wine?
