  1. I've asked several different people about debarkation facial recognition stations in Miami's port.  I know at least one terminal has them, but does anyone know which ones do currently?  We sailed on the Mardi Gras out of Port Canaveral in December and those were real game changers for getting off the boat quickly.

  2. We were there in 2014.  At the time, there was a an entire visitors center type situation.  They had snorkel rentals, beach chairs, showers, bathrooms, a bar and food available.  There was also an small old derelict ship in the water that you could snorkel around and sometimes fish would be swimming under.  We had a great time there and it was a nice beach.  Got there via a driver with a golf cart.

In 2017 they had a big hurricane and apparently most of that area's buildings and the beach were severely damaged.  They eventually removed ship as well.  For at least several years the word was that this area was closed to the public.  Apparently the local see an opportunity here and are moving back into the area.  I may have to stop on our next cruise in Dec.

  3. Now that this thread has probably died down a little, time for a little "off color", very funny story.

At the Casino lounge the first night (watching Music Boardwalk of course), we'd met a 2 couples who were a little older than us who were also watching. The husbands had been gambling and the wives doing more listening of the music. We all started talking and we'd told them that this was the first vacation we'd taken without the kids in 15 years.

One the guys mentioned how he would HATE to be in the room next to us with all the racket we must be making night after night with all the freedom of being free from children finally. We all laughed at his playful teasing and after some drinks and dancing, left to go to our room.

The next morning we left our room on the first floor to go to breakfast and we ran into one of the couples (not the one that had joked about being next to us) who were also heading to breakfast. They'd looked a little surprised and explained to us that our room WAS RIGHT NEXT TO THE COUPLE to which the husband had joked that he'd hate to be roomed next to use.

    NO LIE.

Out of the thousands of passengers on the ship, we were roomed right next to the couple who we'd met the night before who had joked about it.

.... we then went right back into our room and proceeded to bang on the walls and make loud moaning noises that we all joked about later.

  4. I won one on this cruise but gave it away to a young girl who looked like she needed it more than me.

I only got one this cruise. I'm a HUGE trivia geek and trivia buffs where in full effect this time out.

Last year on the Liberty I got three (General Trivia, Michael Jackson Trivia and one other I forget). Some guy in the elevator got excited seeing one of the ones I was taking back to my room and how he had cruised a long time and never got one - and I gave it to him. The pleased look on his face and the thank you's made me feel 200% better than I've ever felt winning one!

  5. We haven't sailed the Liberty yet (we are in November), but I believe all the ships have now taken out the evening sushi and changed it to a Taste Bar.

Since the Liberty has had the 2.0 conversations I'm sure that will be the case here.

We loved the evening sushi too.....we miss it!

No Sushi on the Liberty, unless you count Chocolate Sushi on the last day, or maybe they might have had it at the Taste Bar.

  6. Margaritaville is rather expensive so we went back to the ship for lunch and I came back to watch the soccer game.

We didn't eat at Margaritaville. However, given the size of the drinks, the fact we got a souvenir glass (that offered reduced price refills), and the great atmosphere, I'd say I consider going in the pool and having a few drinks a very reasonable expense. The drinks overall were probably no more expensive than on the ship - maybe less and we had a lot of fun!

  7. Great review. You mentioned it only took about 15 minutes from arrival at the port to being on deck. May I ask what time you arrived at port? Just curious about timing for my upcoming cruise on the Liberty. Thanks!

We left our hotel at about 11am. It takes about 5 minutes or so to get from there to port, then a couple of minutes to get off the shuttle and drop off the bags. Porters were right there at the shuttle to get the bags.
