  1. Personally, when we are at home, we don't "dress up" for dinners out. My fiance doesn't even own a suit. He is a laborer, and laborers wear work pants and steel toed boots. We surely are not going to buy a suit so we can eat dinner on a cruise. A vacation is about getting away from the stresses of every day life. We paid for our vacation just like everyone else and within reason, we will wear what we like to dinner.

  2. Aimathy, I read your review and was thinking many of the same things the whole time! We don't have ids, so it was just my fiance and I. We sailed from Jan. 18-26. He's never cruised, and I've cruised twice with Royal Caribbean. I really missed the main dining room aspect of RC. I like sitting in the same spot, with the same people and especially the same wait staff. The wait staff on NCL just seemed disinterested in us. We ate in the Ventian twive, with a wait one night, and Aqua one night, with a short wait, and after that we at at either the buffet or specialty dining. Cagney's was GREAT! Best filet Mignon I've ever had.

We also went to Maya Chan and I absolutely loved it. The food was phenomenal, and Mark and Jane were great hosts. I couldn't have asked for a better day (except for the weather).

I, as well, decided by the end of the cruise that I would be sticking to what I know and like, and go with RC when we cruise again.

  3. We just came back from the same cruise. We were on the roll call, but completely slept through the meet and greet :o

While I did have a very enjoyable time, I really did miss the main dining room experience you get with Royal Caribbean. This was my first Norwegian cruise, and because of the dining, probably my last. I just like the fact that on RC, you have the same wait staff every night, who remembers you and what you like. We only ate in the main dining room 3 times, and opted for the buffet and specialty dining the other nights. I will say that Cagneys was excellent. The best filet I've ever had. I wasn't impressed at all with Le Bistro. I wish we'd bought the Ultimate Dining Package and ate at Cagneys every night. I thought the buffet was great, never had anything bad there, everything was fresh and very good. I did have a good time, but it's going to be a task to get the fiance back on another ship.

Also, after having previously done 2 Southern Caribbean cruises, I wasn't a huge fan of the western Caribbean itinerary. Honduras was downright scary, my fiance wanted to turn around and get right back on the ship, and I was ready after not being off for very long. We didn't leave the port in Belize. Maya Chan on Costa Maya was amazing, would definitely go back there, and Cozumel was ok.

  4. This isn't exactly specific to cave tubing, but for any port of call that will require walking on wet surfaces and require more than flip flops. We do have cave tubing booked in Belize though, so I need to know what kind of shoe would be best. Apparently we'll have to trek through the forest and I don't think my flip flops will quite cut it. I don't want to spend a ton on something, because when I go back to reality, I'm not an outdoorsy girl and will probably never need these. Or if I can find something that's dual purpose, I'll spend more. Anyone have any recommendations? For the record, I'm 31 and female, and the look does matter :)
