  1. Mac we are on Beyond now, today is our last day but please ask to sit in the back of luminae with Aaron as your waiter! He is a wonderful gentleman and will take great care of you. Tell him Big Dave and Jen say hello!
You will have a wonderful trip, Captain Kate is awesome as usual, seas have been good and the service is tremendous! Wish we could stay another 11 days but will be following along!

    Safe travels!

  2. We sailed in 10100 on Ascent a few weeks ago and really had no issues other than making sure our door was closed and pulling on it, sometimes it wouldn’t latch correctly. We didn’t hear any noises or creaking and enjoyed looking in the bridge when officers were walking around.
You will have a great trip! Enjoy!

  3. It was on the last sea day last week on the Ascent. We didn’t go but others went and said it was a zoo with people lined up 30 deep to get the lobster. They said it looked phenomenal if you could deal with all the people pushing and shoving to get their instagram pics and food.

  4. No we just did the regular menu. The tasting menu takes about 2 and 1/2 hours and we were fine with the normal menu since our seating was at 8:30.
When you arrive they pour you a complimentary glass of Vueve Clicquot which was a nice surprise! We both ordered an appetizer, I had the shrimp and my husband order the crab salad and then we shared the salmon topped with caviar, all delicious. I had the lobster risotto and my husband had the filet which he said was the best he had in a while and he loves meat so that says something. The dessert was phenomenal as well. Just our opinion but one of the best and rich meals we have had in a long time.

My photos are not as good as others, just hoping they show up right.

  5. We just stayed in the same cabin on Ascent. The obstruction is not bad the window cleaning is off to the side. You do have a good view into the bridge but we never felt there was any obstruction to seeing the water and took great pictures on sail always. No noise either. Only issue we had with the room was the cabin door needed to be pushed/pulled tight to ensure it closed and locked.
    Enjoy your trip!

  6. We just got off Ascent and had no issue getting Whispering Angel in the Retreat lounge without any charge. In fact we knew a bartender from a prior cruise and he was able to find us Miravel with no charge.
Now Luminae is a different story, $2 up charge for Whispering Angel and $17 for Caymus.

  7. We just got off the Ascent today and I know several people within the suites complained about loud noises throughout the night, especially the first night as we had rough seas. Several people were discussing with the Retreat hosts but I don’t know if it was resolved. We were in an Aqua Sky suite forward and did not hear any loud noises.

  8. I had the same problem on Apex earlier this year but then also tried using a hair straightener and that stopped as well. Had to send both to the engineers for the day to “fix”. Dyson never did work in any of the outlets in the room but at least the straightener did.  Needless to say I will not be bringing it back on board any ship, it’s not worth the cost of the Dyson to have it blow and never work again.

We’re hoping this is offered on our upcoming Apex sailing - can you share if this price included gratuities?

On Apex a few weeks ago and it was $249/pp. I love Veuve but my DH didn’t want to have each meal paired with champagne. If you are interested in the dinner signup early with the sommelier, it sells out fast.

This is why I’ve never brought mine on a cruise—I’m afraid somehow I’d fry it!  And back when we had to fly to the port, I was afraid of theft (I’ve had items disappear from my luggage).

Glad they both worked when you got home!

Thank you me too! I was really nervous turning it on but was pleasantly surprised!

Wondering which ship you were on?  We were on M-class and mine stopped working after 5 days, then worked fine when we got home.  Recently off an S-class ship and it worked for 12 straight days, no problem.

We were on Apex so you would think it could handle the wattage necessary but my husband thinks it was probably a busy time with everyone getting ready for dinner and maybe that is what caused the short.

And I just love my airwrap for both drying, straightening and curling. I know depending on your hair type it’s not for everyone but like others said dry time is cut down significantly and then using the other heads for finishing is a game changer. I just bring along the flat iron for quick touch ups although going forward I will be using that only on future cruises.

  12. Just wanted to provide some follow up. Brought my air wrap and it was tricky to get plugged in. With the outlet box you really need to push in the plug hard and it’s tight. In the bathroom it kept tripping the reset switch. It ended up working okay for almost the full two weeks and then two days before the end it quit working along with my flat iron. I had a meltdown, it tried to get them both to to work in other plugs and no go. My wonderful husband found our retreat host and he was gracious enough to take it to the engineers. I spoke with the Retreat Concierge the next morning and this must happen a lot since she had a form for me to sign giving the engineers that authority to work on both. A few hours later our Retreat Host came with the engineers. They checked the outlets and they were all working.  They tested both devices and the airwrap would not work in the room but the flat iron did. They assured me that both worked in their shop and that they would work when we got home and they do! I am not sure if they both got shorted out somehow or what happened but they did fix both for me. Lesson learned for me is I will not be bringing the dyson back on my next cruise.

That sounds nice.   They must have had quite a few B2B's.    Did you notice where the Concierge Lunch was held?   Just curious as they have the 4 separate MDR's

Sorry Jim I didn’t really pay attention to where that lunch was, we were just happy to have a little quiet time at the retreat pool before the next guests arrived 😎

There were a god amount of people doing B2B, possibly 60 or more and of that 20 were in suites.

  14. Wow, sorry to hear about those issues you incurred last week. I will say it was the complete opposite the two weeks we were on prior. The suites are booked so the staff is running around a lot trying to serve everyone but we never had an issue getting service from the bar in the Retreat or poolside or speaking with the Retreat Concierges in fact we thought Tajana and Denisa were absolutely fantastic seeing all the people and issues they had to resolve.
I give you kudos for working with everyone to hopefully resolve the dress code issue in the future! We try to roll with things as well but I had a minor meltdown on the second last night of the cruise when both my dyson and flat iron blew a fuse and stopped working. Between our Retreat Host Al, Tajana and the Electricians they were able to resolve the issue in our room outlet and fix both of my devices on the last day. On a side note ladies, I would not bring my dyson back on a cruise, I think it is too much for the outlets to handle.
Can’t wait to hear the rest of your thoughts, I know we have missed the crew on Apex this week, especially the croissants in the morning!

This is interesting since I have only since this selection while in Aqua class cabins. Did you specifically ask for this? Last week we asked for a small cheese plate and received this

  16. We are on Apex now and I have not seen laundry specials but as Elites we get a bag for free and that helped with the B2B clothes. Luminae is fantastic you will love it! Absolutely everyone in there is wonderful but if you get a chance ask for Richie, his section is in the back and he is Amaaazing! Also if you get a chance go to Eden, it is phenomenal! We went twice this cruise and I would consider going again if we didn’t love being with Richie! Went to Fine Cut as well and I’m not a steak person so I thought it was so so. My DH got the dry aged strip and he enjoyed that. He says we will go back on our next cruise but I will try to stick with the appetizers or fish there, but again that is just my opinion. We didn’t get a chance to go to Blu or any of the main restaurants but the menus look great. We did get tested on the last day of our first cruise and it was a very easy process, got results in less than an hour. The ports were not overcrowded, definitely busier prepandemic and everywhere you go people will be so friendly and glad to see you.

    Enjoy your cruise!

  17. Hi Mac and thank you for posting while on your vacation! We are scheduled to board on the 12th and your pics are making us super excited! I see you are in St Kitts today and we are scheduled to visit as well on our itinerary although when I just looked at the app I no longer see St Kitts showing up as a port. If you have time would you mind asking if there are any plans to not go to St Kitts in two weeks? If not no worries, while we will miss going there I’m sure we will find things to do onboard!
Enjoy the rest of your vacation!

    Cheers!
