I took this Avalon River cruise in August. All of the ship excursions were wonderful. Normandy beach tour was the best. Yes it was a ride on the bus, but a lot of history was shared along the way.
Have a wonderful time.

First River Cruise. Flying to Paris on 8/18 to board 8/20 on the Avalon Tapestry II for the Paris-Normandy cruise. Staying in France, don't know where as yet, two nights after the cruise ends on 8/27.

We are taking this cruise in August and have pre-cruise hotel at Pullman near the Eiffel Tower. Booked through Avalon. Very interested in your review of this cruise since it is my first River Cruise.

I have taken the train from the airport in Amsterdam to the airport. Very easy.

Hi. This is a general inquiry about Avalon Waterways. We are booked on the August 2019 trip Paris to Normandy. Has anyone taken this trip? I am just wondering how much time we actually have in Paris? We are flexible enough to add pre or post days if necessary. My goal was to "see" Paris.
Thanks to anyone who responds. This is my first river cruise.

Hello. I am considering Avalon Waterways for a cruise to Paris/Normandy/Paris in 2019. Does anyone have experience with solo cruising on Avalon Waterways? Thanks!

What is the $25 dollars regarding the towels. Could you elaborate? Thanks. Leaving on the Getaway on 2/5/17.

Leaving on the Regatta Radiant Retreat in about a month. Does anyone know where the ship docks while in port in Boston? We are trying to figure out how to get to the New England Aquarium. Thank you.

When we booked our cruise, our travel agent told us about the air fare issues with Oceania. First, the deviations were possible. We were told it was possible for us to be booked from Philly through Chicago to get to JFK or Newark. Also, TA advised if we were going to opt to do our own air, we should make that decision at time of cruise booking since it was a real possibility that as we got closer to our cruise date and then opted to do our own air, the Oceania credit would be reduced. Apparently the closer you get to your cruise date the lower the air credit.
We booked our own air fare and pre/post hotel.

12/8 cruise. We were held up on arriving due to customs on the ship. Once disembarkation began it went quickly. I thought walk-offs were first to disembark but could walk off at any time.

Yes the ship was decorated for the holidays. It was lovely and a nice surprise. Very tastefully done.

Disembarking was easier then embarking. If you can walk off you may be able to make your train. There are many yellow cabs across the street once you leave the terminal. Be sure to cross the street and get a yellow cab.

I was on the Breakaway 12/8 when the snow storm hit the East Coast. The hot tubs were open during the sail away. It was cold on deck but very festive passing NYC skyline, etc. Did not notice any rocking cruising south or north. We had great weather at all ports. No problems at Stirrup Cay. Just about an hour delay getting off the ship. Enjoy!

The printed material is a little confusing. Boarding the Breakaway in NYC on 12/8. Can I bring my own wine on board? It appears I can, but the question is can I keep in my cabin?

Has anyone taken this cruise? It was offered in 2020, but I am not sure if it sailed due to Covid? My question...what are the best excursions to take Oceania Select, Ground Level? On previous Oceania cruises we were able to arrange our own excursions. This was of course, before COVID. Thinking that we may not be able to tour on our own due to restrictions and have to go with the ship excursions, we are looking for less time on a bus with less people. Any input. Thank you.
