It's not free, but another option that I used on our last cruise was the international day pass that AT&T has (Verizon has something similar as well).  It's not necessarily "cheap", but at $10 a day for unlimited data/voice/text it's convenient.

My AT&T Plan includes free canada and mexico, and it has that $10/day unlimited international day pass thing. Considering it just works when I get to the location and don't have to deal with sim swapping or anything it's great for me. It worked in Barcelona when we were there, and I can't imagine trying to do Tokyo without it.

Its lovely to read someone's positive review of the Beyond in the midst of all the people on here complaining about cut backs.

Can't wait to board our B2B next month!!

AGREED. Upcoming cruise is my first on Celebrity, and I've been clicking away at this discussion board for a couple weeks. It's gotten depressing so it's good to read some nice comments.

the Lot B routinely goes for $500+ at auction, which is insane.  But the WL Weller 12yr goes for $250+, so....why not.  A far cry from the $30/bottle this stuff cost when I first starting drinking it 14-15 years ago. I've long been priced out of this stuff--it's a steal for $40, fair at $100, but prices are in outer space now.

yea...i bought a bottle of the 12 year weller 10+ years ago at Binny's in Chicago. I remember distinctly there being 3 bottles on the shelf and don't know why I didn't grab them all 😞

I just don't care about the hype bottles. I've had pappy 12. It's good. Let's say I could buy it for $300 (I can't). Is it 10x better than Old Forester 100 or WT101 for the price? Hell no. Diminishing returns and all that.

The one I'd like to taste again is one I had in Louisville: a bottled in bond 100 proof heaven hill. That was a nice pour.

I really like Long Island Ice Tea. Never seen it on a menu on X, but discovered last year that they will make them for you.

This used to be our goto pre-drink packages (and back when we didn't make a lot of money) because it's def a bang for the buck type of drink. Pro tip: don't drink them in a hot tub lol

It really depends on the bar and bartender. I love a good Manhattan, but only a couple of bars have real Luxardo cherries (if that) or a decent sweet vermouth. Craft Social had rye, for instance, but I think still crappy vermouth. Beam and a candied cherry isn’t a Manhattan!

I think they’re generally better stocked for tropical drinks than classic cocktails. Kind of is what it is. But, if they’ve got the ingredients, they should make it.

This is one thing I hope we can find on Celebrity (our first cruise on X is in a few weeks). On Virgin we found amazing bartenders who really knew their stuff. We got talking to one of the bartenders one night, and mentioned we like Cynar - the next day at their beach resort place he was there with a bottle of it making us drinks.

  5. I've done two virgin cruises, we go on a celebrity cruise next month. I think the food is generally better, but not all of it is great (the steakhouse can't cook a steak to save their lives, some of the "buffet" options are kinda lacking). No drink package, but the bar tab deals are decent at covering that. The no kid factor is incomparable. I also just love the vibe on the ship in general. Employees seem happier.

There were guidelines last week on the Millie. Seriously, do shorts belong in a dining room at dinner? You are not at home. What would you wear to a nice restaurant?

I've been to James Beard nominated restaurants where the bill for 2 people was north of 300. I would assume that fits the "nice restaurant" category. I wore shorts and a black t-shirt. This dress code thing is passé.

  7. We have a cruise coming up in a few weeks (third one since covid). We will wear masks on the plane, but I predict we will do that indefinitely. I used to always get colds after a flight, and that hasn't happened since I am masked up so that's not changing. On the boat I will have one with me basically always, and will wear it if I'm in a crowd/crowded elevator. Boarding madness for sure, but if we're headed to dinner or on the pool deck probably not.

  8. I'm just way too excited for my upcoming cruise so I've been booking restaurants, and double checking things. I've got my bag tags printed out already, worked on packing list a little bit.

Anyway. I was looking at my invoice and trying to reconcile what each row means. See image attached. I think I've got everything sorted other than the guest 2 (169.00) line. It's another 75% discount for the second passenger, but for what line item? I tried googling some of these codes and searching on the site but couldn't find anything.

Thanks for any assistance you all can provide.

  9. I've done ~10 on RCCL, 1 on Carnival mixed in there, and most recently 2 on Virgin. I thoroughly enjoyed the VV cruises, wanted another cruise, but wanted a different boat to explore. Beyond looks beautiful so I want to give it a try. It will be nice to have a drink package again. I will appreciate the "no smoking in the casino" policy. I guess we'll see if it hits the spot, but they already have my monies lol.

We were in cabin 10231, December 11, 2022.. Aqua Class IV cabin..same exact cracking noises. They began around 11 p.m., the first night of the cruise. we put our AirPods and white noise on…no help.

I reported it to Guest Relations the next morning they sent someone to listen and look. When I spoke with them later in the day, they acknowledged that this was an issue….no surprise.  The were quite apologetic and kind..offered us the interior cabin across the hall, as a place to sleep.  It was a simple solution, and we had two cabins🤣.  The sounds continued throughout the 7 night cruise. Seas were a little rocky at first, but the current was very strong. The only quiet moments were when in port.
We met senior officers during our cruise and discussed this with each of them. We were told that they are aware of this, it impacts some cabins, not others, and that the ship builders were aboard, trying to problem solve.

We loved this ship, but are wary of booking it again for the near future.

Thanks for providing that link. I hope I don't get a room like that on my February cruise. I think I'm someone easy going but I also couldn't listen to that noise for an extended period of time - it would drive me nuts.

  11. I had this problem too. This is how I've been getting there, but you'd think it should be easier:

Goto celebritycruises.com. Click sign in and sign in. You should still be on the homepage, but your name will appear in the upper right. Click your name, then click "my tier and points". You'll now be on a page with Welcome [name] and your captains club number. Scroll down and you'll see My Cruises. There will be a "plan my cruise" button that will take you to the planner where you can reserve things.

You can do this from the 'my reservations' page too, but you'll get some prompt that you're leaving 'manage your reservation' or something. Considering these are multibillion dollar companies, you'd think they would have better websites lol.
