  1. Four of us are sailing out of Miami on 2/15 on the Carnival Conquest.  We fly in late on the 14th to Fort Lauderdale.  Our plane arrives about 11:30 pm.  I think it may be best to taxi/Uber/shuttle to a hotel near the Port so we can sleep in a little on the 15th.  Any suggestions?  I just want a clean, safe place to sleep for about 8 hours.  Looking for hotel and transportation suggestions

    Thanks

  2. We just returned from a stop in St. Maarten. In short, the island is still a disaster. I know they need the tourist dollars but they really need disaster relief funds. They need so much and months and months of clean up. There is debris everywhere. The cruise lines need to be more transparent about what you are getting into on these hurricane destroyed islands. It was so sad to see.

  3. We just returned from a stop in St. Maarten. Orient beach still looks like a war zone. It has no power, all the destroyed buildings are still in heaps on the beach, debris everywhere. Not the beautiful beach I remember. The whole island is still a mess and will be for months to come. It was sad to see. The cruise lines need to be more transparent about what you will getting into. I know they need the tourist money, but they really need huge amounts of disaster relief funds.

  4. We just returned from St. Maarten....the island is still a mess. Orient beach looks like a war zone. They do not have power but ran a generator. ALL of the building are still there in total rubble. There is still debris everywhere. It was so sad to see. I would say you may see some improvement by November but not much has been done in 5 months. I really think the cruise lines need to be more transparent regarding how bad the island is.

  5. I'm glad I did not pay much for the upgrade. Not worth much extra for slippers and a robe. I hated the smell of the "upgraded" shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. The discounts on spa treatments were insignificant unless you planned on lots of over priced treatments. Our floor didn't smell wonderful and we never saw our room steward. The room was always cleaned up but I saw her one time.

  6. We are booked for a February cruise to St. Martin, St. Kitts, Grand Turk, and San Juan. I do not see any way that St. Martin will be up and running and I fear the same for Grand Turk. I'm trying to decide if I should cancel and book an itinerary that suits my preferences, or just go with what I have. We have our airfare purchased already and any changes will increase that cost. I'm so sad, St. Martin is my favorite island and I have never been to Grand Turk.

  7. We don't sail until February but every port is in direct line of this monster, St. Kitts, St. Maarten, Grand Turk, and San Juan. My question is should I just go ahead now and look for another cruise during this same time, or wait and see how many of the ports get back up and operational?

  8. I booked a few months ago on the Sunshine because I liked the itinerary and the time frame worked for us. I really was not too concerned about what ship it was. We have only sailed on Carnival and never had a bad experience. This will be our seventh Carnival Cruise.

I recently started reading some reviews here on the boards and I'm a little concerned. Many reviews were not too good. They said the ship was crowded, service was poor, ship docked late in ports, and the ship was in poor repair.

Has anyone recently been on board with a different view point? Should I cancel and try to find another cruise?

    Thanks for your input.

  9. Does anyone know when this menu changes? We enjoyed this experience last March and would love to do it again but want to try the new menu. If I recall correctly, they told us the menu changes once a year, but when is the change?

    Thanks
