Would appreciate information about how crowded you felt on Regal. We were on Sky and everything was mobbed, no pool seats unless you arrived at 6:30 am. Buffet mobbed, had to get to shows and music events over an hour early to get a seat. Elevators packed with long waits. I am concerned about the same issue on our upcoming Regal cruise.

    Thank you in advance!

We have sailed several times on the Regal and Royal, all full ships and would sail again.  Always felt it had a great flow and no obvious feelings of being overcrowded.  We stay away from Mega ships; we can go to the mall anytime. 🙂

we've booked the 2 bedroom haven suite on the jan sailing from panama through the canal, onthe jewel, and i found that the prices are what i consider reasonable for 3 people

we're also in a 2 bedroom on the gem b2b 3 people from venice ending in rome.  once again for 2 weeks and 3 people i think the prices are reasonable. we didnt book he 2 bedroom haven, as the rooms are almost identical, the perks are almost all the same, and its not worth the extra $3,000 to be in the "haven" complex.

ive commented before, if anyone feels that the ncl cruise prices are to high, or unreasonable, it'like any other commodity. spend your money elsewhere.

regardless of other lines, i find most ncl itineraries are amazing, and well worth the price.

We find the prices of NCL to be very reasonable, no complaints here.  We have enjoyed the Haven several times, no complaints on price.   I really enjoy the Haven experience, my original question was the difference between the newer ships and Jewel Class, description was not easy to follow.  If we had family this trip would definitely book.  maybe we are on the same cruise?  BTB Panama Canal in January.  Fabulous Trip.

  3. Thank you for all of the replies.  Think we will pass on the Jewel Haven this next trip and save it for the newer ships.  Prices are way up for Jewel Haven on 12 day cruises.  On Bliss, love the huge front observatory and library, drinks and snacks, along with the Haven Restuarant.   Love the Jewel, and their balconies.

  4. We have been lucky enough to sail in the Haven for a couple of cruises.  Have been on the Jewel several times, always a Balcony and it has always been great, but not since the refurbish.  I know it is not the same as the newer ships, please tell me about it.  Thank you

I'm sorry to hear that your parents won't be able to join you...! 😞  (We had two cruises on the SUN that were cancelled over the past two years, too, so it was nice to finally be able to sail...!)

We also love the Jewel class ships (and in fact, we'll be on a B2B in September/October on the Jewel--assuming there are no cancellations)...but we were on the SUN back in 2004, so it was wonderful to be on this ship again--with all of the great memories it brought back for us...! 🙂

One thing we'd totally forgotten about with regard to the layout of the SUN...there are some "you can't get there from here" decks...so we found ourselves often having to go up or down a deck or two if we were on one end of the ship and needed to get to the other end.  One of the crew members told us that even they sometimes forget that they have to go up or down--instead of going straight through from one end to another.

And I have to mention again...the crew members were terrific...!

Since you mention having a penthouse suite...a few more bits of info for you...

There is no actual Haven at all...so there is no actual Haven restaurant.  However, there is a dedicated restaurant for suite guests for breakfast and lunch.  It's Cagney's...and the food for these meals was excellent (I think I had the shrimp toast every morning).  Breakfast also has the continental buffet in the corner and everything was very fresh...with a great selection of fruit, croissants/pastries, etc...while you're waiting for your entree.  The menu for lunch and dinner isn't huge and it doesn't change, but we found that food was so good, we didn't mind at all...!

The concierge is Sumdedh (sp?)...and he's excellent.  He made all of our dining reservations for us (and the changes we requested), then checked with in with us every morning to see if we needed anything.  He also looked for us at every dinner...to make sure everything was going well...and to see if we needed anything.  He's very attentive, but also figured out very quickly that we're very low maintenance...so was also very good about not pushing us to sign up for activities, nor excursions.  He hit just the right balance...and I saw him do the same with the other suite guests...!  He was definitely one of the best concierges we've had...!

One note about Cagney's...there are really only 3 tables that are right next to windows...so you might want to see if you can request one of those.  They have some "banquet seating" tables...one side is chairs and the other side is a booth...but none of those are near the windows.  We only sat at one of those tables once (the bench side was too low for me), so we chose to sit at only actual tables.

We usually eat at Le Bistro at least once per cruise...but because we didn't feel like dressing up quite as much, we didn't make it to LB this time.  However, we peeked in...and they also have some nice window tables.  Unfortunately, we didn't go in far enough to see if there are any booths.

Moderno had window tables...but I don't recall seeing any booths.

By far, the best window tables we saw were in La Cucina and Los Lobos...!  Los Lobos has some booths (not by the window, though).  The booths are raised slightly (I think) and the atmosphere is light and bright...so, the views are very good from the booths.  (If you like guacamole, the tableside preparation is a must.)  La Cucina has the most window tables...and because the restaurant is located on deck 5 (access is via deck 6, though), you're much closer to the water, so the view of the water is fantastic...!  The restaurant is long and narrow--window tables on one side...and raised circular booths on the other.  We didn't try the booths there--we went with a window table each time.

If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to try to answer those, too...! 🙂

Thank you for all of the information on the Suites.   Is Cagney's open for breakfast and lunch on Sea days and Port days?  Do you remember the hours they serve for both.

Does anyone know if they process upgrades on the weekends (or holidays)?  I leave on Monday and still have all my Haven bids pending.  I know they processed most of the upgrades for our cruise on Tuesday and Wednesday, and I thought for an hour or so that I got it as my other bids showed expired and one said processing.  Unfortunately, it later changed to "unable to upgrade" and the other three bids went back to pending.  I am still able to modify any of my bids.

I realize its still a very slim chance, but if someone were to cancel and a room opens up, is there a chance I get an upgrade processed this weekend?  Thanks!

Same thing happened to us, exactly.  2 days later we ended up with better cabin 2 days before sailing this coming Sunday.  Merry Christmas, Good Luck, you still have a chance!

We are booked for encore on 12/26. Today,  I got 3 separate emails telling me that I was outbid and I could increase my bid with their live system. I went from an original bid of $750pp  on the haven aft large balcony to $1251pp, $750 on haven aft balcony to $955, and haven courtyard penthouse from $500 to $725. Their system keeps saying that I have been out bid. What do you think? How high do you need to go before you are not outbid? I have other bids that did not get an email stating that I was outbid. I’d love some insight…..

Shortly after I posted this morning I received the email stating I was out bid by 54 bidders.  I raised my bid to $1800.00 pp=$3600.00, it said I was still out bid by 52 bidders, so I cancelled.  Personally I rather not do the live bid.  My first bid was $1500.00 pp=$3000.00.  I am happy with the cabin we have, I have a couple of other bids in but I did not get the email to bid live, or I was out bid.

  8. Interesting, I have bid on all categories, although majority are sold out for the Bliss December 26th cruise out of San Pedro.  This morning banner was still there, I tried to check, but Error when I tried to get on.  Went back this afternoon on PC and NCL App Banner is gone along with all bids.  It's been there  55 days out, and I have changed my bids a couple of times, anyone else missing bids and banner?

  9. We are leaving this Sunday on the Star, roundtrip out of Seattle.  Booked our cruise about 5 weeks ago, had no choice on cabin selection, almost everything was GTY.  We went ahead and booked a Balcony BD GTY, assigned cabin today upgraded to Balcony BB, nice upgrade, happy with the location.  Ship has been showing sold out for a week or two, we are Platinum, not sure if assignment was based on loyalty.  Looking for to our 6th Alaska cruise, our only port we can drive to 🙂

  10. Boop Tennis,  Thank you for giving such a positive review on the Island!  We did the FFL to San Fran the end of November, first week of December.  I just didn't give the time to write a review, but wanted to, after reading so many negative comments of the ship.  It was a incredibly awesome cruise, the food was delicious, the service some of the best we have had on our 23 plus cruises.  We really enjoyed the ship.  You are doing many people a favor, your review is very accurate.

I hate to hear that there are still ships waiting for the new beds and On Demand tv -- both are wonderful.  Sure hope Ruby is getting them during this dry dock!!

New beds and linens(loved them), we were on the ship out of Vancouver out of dry dock.  Had the new TV's but no demand, so, disappointed, spoiled with demand on the Regal, but assume and hope they will get the TV's programed.  As stated new carpets, our first time on the Ruby, it was clean and polished, staff was great.

  12. Does anyone who has the gold delta Amex card see this as an available offer on their account?

Sent from my iPad using Forums

Not seeing it on the Delta Am Ex, did chat with them and they said offer does not go out to everyone. Last time it was offered I was able to "back door" load/add it.... Not working, so far , but not done trying....

  13. Yes as long as the deposit on the original cruise is refundable.

We have three Princess cruises booked over the next 6 months, my question is, if in October we buy a couple of Future Cruise Credits can we apply it to the last cruise, (it is the only one not paid in full), or does it need to be a new booking? Thanks

  14. Yes. We had an upsell offer on a 5 night Baja cruise not long ago. When Princess decides to try upsells to open up lower cost rooms can vary. No way of telling when it will happen. One cruise we got our first upsell offer about 3 months out. And received 2 more in the intervening time before the cruise.

Did you have to notify or have it in your portfolio that you would be interested or want a upgrade? Or was it a random email sent out to people booked on that cruise?

  15. If you are booked, and your fare is refundable, then yes, you can change your cabin at any time up until then.

However, remember, it is not just a cabin change.

This would be a re-booking, under the rates and promos AT THAT TIME.

If you do not think that the Drink Package is worth it, then by all means, consider all other options.

The next Promo might be a really good one for you.

You CAN change to an Ocean View cabin right now...

You should be able to request a rate without the Sip and Sail... At least I think that is what I have heard. You might have to call and do this over the phone, or have your TA do this. But I think it can be done.

And, then, IF YOUR DEPOSIT IS REFUNDABLE, you can do this again in the future to switch to the new promo.

Same goes for any other price drops or promos.

You are planning way in advance!

The advantage to this would be if you wanted this Sip and Sail promo..

Or, if you wanted to get your name on a specific cabin....

Just make sure that your fare IS refundable, and you can take advantage of any other price drops or promos that might come out.

I doubt that your cruise is booking up that quickly, this far in advance.

You can go online and act like you want to book another cabin, and you can see what availability looks like.

We booked our next cruise under Sip and Sail last year... We wanted to have the drink package this time!

Recently got an email for exclusive Captain Circle Fares... They were too good to pass up.

We could have a a $500.00 bar tab, and still save a significant amount. And this was moving up to Balcony Deluxe, from a regular balcony.

Our final payment date is coming up in a matter of weeks... There are still a lot of Mini-Suites available.

I am not getting my hopes up at all, but might cross my fingers and might consider changing our booking to 'Upgrade' instead of "NO upgrade'.

We will be Plat after our next cruise, and our next two cruises are booked through Princess. I cannot find where is states "Upgrade" vs "No Upgrade" on the reservation, where can I find this.... Thank you for the advice:)

  16. Sailing on the Pearl, departs August 5th out of Seattle. Just received the email "Unable to Confirm Your Upgrade". I bid max, $450 per person, $900.00 total, upgrade bid from inside to balcony, did not bother bidding on the window. My very first cruise in a inside, always have had balcony or higher, my 23rd cruise, next cruise is Platinum on NCL. So....maybe we will find out we like inside?? It's my third trip to Alaska and daughter and I are taking the grandson for his first cruise, so excited, for all of us.

  17. We're sailing in 4 days on the Norwegian Pearl out of Seattle. We received an upgrade offer from our Inside Stateroom (5573) for either an Ocean View or Balcony. Minimum bid for the Ocean View is $50 per person, Minimum bid for Balcony is $75 per person. We bid $150 per person for the Balcony upgrade as we were not interested in an Ocean View, but haven't heard anything back with only 4 days left to go. We'll keep you posted if we hear anything!

Please update when you find out. We sail the week after you:cool:

  18. We have just booked a 14 day cruise in February on the Regal Princess. We have sailed with Princess before and wanted to find out if we booked the right cabin.

We booked Cabin B733 on the BAJA Deck. Has anyone sailed in this stateroom before, and if so did you like the cabin.

    Thank You.

We also recently booked the Regal for the Caribbean in February 2019, this will be our fourth time on the ship. Coming from the PNW in the winter, we have been in balconies in the front, aft and middle. We honestly can say, we not been disappointed in any of our cabins. Two of the four were assigned, of course we never have objected to a little walk after meals, for a little exercise ;p You have a nice cabin, no regrets to be found:cool:
