  1. If you remove the scheduled gratuities, supervisors interpret this as a result of poor service and the service personnel get black marks against them. Keep the auto tips, pay your account in cash, and have a wonderful vacation with no unintended consequences

I'm more concerned with the service people getting their tips. What makes anyone think the bartender gets his 18%? How does the cruise line divide the money? How much does the cruise line keep? Pretty naïve to think the cruise line doesn't take a cut. Why can't a diner leave a tip on the table just like any other restaurant in the world? Thanks for your reply.

  2. Done it many times. If we don't get the drink package we enjoy a glass of wine in our cabin before going down to one of the lounges for a pre-diner drink. We usually let our cabin attendant know the first day of the Cruise we would like wine glasses everyday. Never had a problem getting that request. You can also get wine glasses from room service or one of the lounges. Again no problem. We also pack our own wine opener in our checked luggage. It's a cheap one and the foil cutter is small. It's been on many Cruises with us.

    Appreciate the info.

  3. Your can confirm this on Celebrity's website: two 750 ml bottles per stateroom, at embarkation only, not from ports, no charge when consumed in stateroom, $25 corkage per bottle if consumed elsewhere. Best to bring it in carry-on luggage, not checked luggage

    Thanks!!

  4. Just got my email from Norwegian that our Sept. 29,2014 Pacific Coast cruise will NOT include a stop in San Francisco. Instead we will be stopping in(hold your breath) Astoria, Oregon. I had a suite on the front of the boat just to be able to see the Goldengate Bridge and pffft, gone up in smoke. NCL says it is a berthing issue. Seems a company that size would know well in advance of this issue. I'll be suggesting to folks they try another cruise line that has a clue.
