  1. I was wondering as well. I know 6 days gets 2 elegant nights, 5 days and under only get one. There is only one sea day and it is on the last day, so everyone will be packing that night. I can't imagine them doing an elegant night when everyone needs to pack up put out their luggage.

  2. Is my understanding correct that they no longer serve lobster tails as a regular menu item, but one you have to pay extra for?

I could be wrong, but I believe they still offer lobster on one of the elegant nights, but they offer steakhouse selections in the MDR every night for a 20 fee (which lobster is one of those selections offered).

  3. We just participated in the Clue mystery on the Legend and liked it. They had one show in the main theater to set everything up. They had people dressed up as each of the characters, and they would each do a skit, revealing what weapon they had, and what room they were in at the time of the murder.

Then there would be a clue in the form of a puzzle posted near the coffee bar on various days during the week (there were 5 clues and it was a 8 day cruise, so not enough for each day).

Here's a picture of one of the clues, so you can see what I mean:

When you solved a clue, it would eliminate one of the suspects, until you eventually knew who it was. At the end of the cruise, you wrote down the killer's name, the weapon, and the room. The CD picked the winner from the box, but she did it the right way, meaning if the slip of paper she picked didn't have the correct answer, they didn't win. She kept picking until she got one with the right answer and I believe they won a Hasbro prize pack or gift certificate (can't recall which).

It sounds like the Legend may be the only one that makes it fun. That's too bad, I was looking forward to trying it on the conquest. I'll probably still give it a shot.

  4. Really? That breaks down to $28 an hour on top of the small amount that the cruise ship pays them. I would say that $30+ an hour for someone from a country where most people make a few dollars a day is a pretty good wage, especially when room and board is covered too. There are probably quite a few unemployed people in the US that would think that is pretty good pay too.

I wish I made that a day. I would be happy with that.:)

  5. My husband and I are looking into booking our first cruise for January. We have never been to another country, on a cruise or away for more than a long weekend trip. We have a couple options in mind (all with carnival): 5 day on Elation to Cozumel and Progresso, Yucatan, which is the cheapest or should we do a 7 night on Dream to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Montego Jamaica? Also if we go with the 7 night there are still balcony rooms left and that is an option for us, so if you think we need the 7 day is it partial to splurge on a balcony room? As far as excursions go, we want one day exploring Mayan ruins and one day snorkeling and relaxing on the beach. Any advice on which ports to which of these activities would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Any cruise you can't go wrong with. I will be on the 7 night on the dream to those same places in about 10 days. I can't wait.

In Cozumel there was this beach club that we went to before and are going to again called Nachi Cocom, we did snorkeling there also (my sister signed us up for that I don't remember if it was through Nachi or some independent company), and it was the best snorkeling I have ever done. It is a gorgeous beach and the delicious food and drinks are included. You do need to sign up ahead of time since they only let in 100 people. I think the price is around $60 maybe.

Grand Cayman has great beaches and good snorkeling.

This will be my first time at Montego Jamacia, so I don't know. We are going to do Dr. Caves beach.

You'll have tons of fun no matter what cruise you choose. :D

  6. Oh PULEEEEZE! Part of the fun of being on a ship is going to your cabin each night after turn down and finding, along with the towel animal, the FUNTIMES for the following day and reading through it and planning. I would be most disappointed if the cruiselines did away with this. The FUNTIMES also make a good souvenir.

I would too, I love going through the Funtimes and figure out what i am going to do the next day while laying on my nice comfy bed.

  7. I dunno...you all sure about this steakhouse thing? I've recently read right here on this forum that you can get as good, or maybe a BETTER meal in the MDR..for no additional cost!!! So, like I dunno......

In my opinion it is definitely worth it. It was the best meal that I have eaten on a cruise ship and I make sure to go at least one time each cruise. It is well worth the splurge. :D:D

  8. Sorry to inform you that magic and superstition will not protect you . Washing your hands will reduce the risk . But you could wash your hands raw and still develop a very nasty respiratory infection with complications .

I guess if you are in peak condition with no underlying medical conditions you will pull through . But it will not be a pleasant experience .

In England we touch wood ,never stroked it .But whatever rocks your boat.

OP it looks like u seem to think everyone going on a cruise is going to become sick and the only thing "saving" everyone from getting sick is only because they are lucky (from some of the other posts I read). That is simply not the case. Good luck with whatever you decide.

  9. Does everybody like the first ship they have been on the best? So my vote is the Splendor because it was my first. I would also like to try the Breeze.

I would have to agree with you about the first ship. The Inspiration was my first ship and will always hold a special place in my heart. :) I'm going on the Dream in about 20 days and people seem to love that one so I am super excited. :D Maybe that will end up being my favorite.

  10. I have heard that the new rates are as follows (beginning 8/8/14)

    3 day cruises $55/day

    4 day cruises $45. "

    5 day cruises $42.50 "

    7 day cruises $37.50 "

    Plus 15% gratuity.

I dunno about anyone else but I am STOKED! :p

Thank you so much. I am so happy, that's definitely doable. Yay!!!!!:D

  11. I'm having one of those days y'all! To get through the afternoon I've been daydreaming about all the yummy drinks I'll order on my next cruise (especially now that the Cheers program is more doable on a 7 night cruise!) Do any of y'all have some pictures of your favorite drinks??? I have one of a Painkiller in a fishbowl.

I could use one of these this afternoon!

Sorry a little off topic. I noticed that you said the Cheers program is reduced for a 7 night. How much is it now? I do like the Funship drink. Those always taste good. Nice and fruity.

  12. hmmm... why should anyone post on the question asked 'Is it worth it?'.

The OP already answered the question in his/her mind.

    stated in the original post.

To the OP - If you asked the question and already answered it... why post?

I was going to say the same thing. I was reading other peoples responses to your post and you always have a remark against going, so don't. Me personally I love cruises and you can get sick ANYWHERE, so it's worth it.

  13. It's fun to play one or two games. It was 25 for a bingo card that had 3 sections to play and a pull-tab card. I don't know if it has changed or not since I last played. I actually won :D a free cruise the last time a I played it and that was in 2012, so I found it worth it to play.
