  1. We went to Brewers off the Escape last week.

By the time we all ate and reunited outside the ship it was probably 945 or so. We arranged for the driver to pick us up there at 1pm so that some people could shop in port before reboarding. I choose this moment to end the fun part of my trip and get sick, so we just reboarded. Trip was $8 per person each way and you don't pay until you return to port. Our driver was very friendly and came out to the beach to let us know when he had returned and to see if he could pick us up closer to where we were sitting rather than make us all walk back to the parking lot. The drive was breathtaking.

It was a short beach day, but long enough for all of us to have fun and do what we wanted. We had a few rain showers while we were there, but standing out in the ocean, it wasn't that bad. My husband rented a snorkel set and said it was good, but not as great as Coki Beach in St. Thomas.

The beach is gorgeous. Lots of shade available. It was sparsely populated while we were there. We did not have great experiences with Nicole's, but the drink fetchers seemed happier with the service that they received at the other end of the beach.

  2. The iConcierge feature you are talking about is for calls/texting inside the ship only (extra fee if calling to shore), it has nothing to do with internet connectivity.

Other than that call/text feature, using iConcierge onboard is completely free.

Yep...that's exactly the point I was making. Both systems worked near perfectly for us all week.

  3. If you look through the dailies posted you can see when the dinner events are.

Another great food event was the Wine, Water, and Food tapas dinner at Cellars. Reasonably priced, delicious and informative...I only dropped in on that one due to other plans, but I had a few tastes and the reviews were all positive.

  4. Last week chairs were $5 and umbrellas were $10. Buckets of beer were everywhere but I was enjoying the fresh fruit rum smoothies so didn't notice what everyone was paying for their beer.

The runners were amazing. The whole fried snapper was delicious as were the mahi wraps.

I don't know if you're going soon, but Magens Bay had a runoff problem and the locals strongly suggest staying out of the water there for a while. So all of the other beaches are busier than usual but we were still very happy there.

We paid $7 per person each way for Coki, but weren't allowed to talk about it in the port so that the driver didn't get in trouble.

Friendly people and service all round on our port adventure.

  5. We just casually snorkelled at Coki beach last week. It was amazing. My husband saw a sea turtle and the kids could all snorkel around the close rocks and see lots there too.

We met a couple who go to this beach to snorkel every cruise they take.

The service on the beach was great too. The chair rental person we used took great care of us and the food and drinks were fantastic.

  6. Yes, share if you don't need to be on at the same time. There is a log in screen that is not device specific.

You can still use the Iconnect feature for $8 a week completely separate from the wifi plan. We had no issues with either system.

  7. We just returned from the Escape on Saturday. We were travelling with a fairly large group with kids aged 5-13.

The kids all loved splash academy with very few exceptions. They asked to go all the time. The program was varied enough and the employees enthusiastic so that the kids were always very engaged.

The 13 year olds didn't want to go to their program alone. I don't know these kids as well so I don't know how much of that was personality based vs program. It's an awkward age at the best of times and to be the youngest in a group would be intimidating.

  8. I can't stop laughing at what appals, disgusts, and offends some people in this thread.

What I find most interesting is the name calling and stereotyping...this disgusts, offends, and appals me, so I guess I'm in the right place afterall.

  9. Personally I think kids sit much better on a plane in their usual car seat...mine almost always sleeps this way.

I'd bring a car seat for the 3yo and a booster you can check for the 6yo. We're bringing a bubblebum for my 5.5y.o. this time.

  10. The rogers $5/day thing is a great plan.

I'm with Bell so I use Roam every time I travel and have been more than pleased with the service. They're very helpful too. You can pick up a SIM card at most petro canada stations as well as some other locations listed on their site. Make sure you unlock your phone before you travel. There are several online services that send you a code for a reasonable fee.

  11. We used ours in the ports too. I'm not willing to take chances in another country that I wouldn't take at home.

We use ours as a seat on the plane. Before he needed his own seat we gate checked the seat. If you can get a go go cart or similar that the car seat clips onto it eliminates the need for a stroller while in the airport too.

I never had anyone say or react negatively to the car seat. Practice your install before you go so that it's quick!

This trip he's 5.5 and although he is still in a carseat at home, we're using the Bubblebum booster once we arrive in FL and in ports.

  12. Thank you for the replies.

For the record. ...i consider paying for myself and a friend to attend an event , for example, a reasonable cost for entertainment. Buying 2 tickets just for myself on the other hand would seem frivolous and expensive. I guess we all see things differently.

  13. She'll still have the rest of us on the trip.

I remember reading something in another thread about getting port charges reimbursed. ..or something similar. Is this what she should ask for.

Yes she had paid both fares...but I think it would be great if she could get a spa pass or something at least out of any reimbursement .
