We are booked in a Junior Suite in October on Allure of the Seas. Are we still able to dine at Coastal Kitchen, as long as there is availability?

Couldn't find anything recent on this topic. Thanks!

JS you can eat in Coastal Kitchen for dinner only and if they have availability. You must make reservations with them once onboard. JS room keys do not work to open the Coastal Kitchen/Suite Lounge doors so crew will need to let you in. JS does not offer breakfast or lunch access.

So, do you hop on and off the tour bus? Do you get back on the same bus each time?

you do hop on/off the bus a designated stops. However, the buses come to those hop on/off locations on a rotational schedule. When you want to hop back on you wait at the stop for a bus to come through. The busses do not wait for you.

they have three different tours if it’s still the same as the last time I did it. Beach, downtown and little Havana areas. You could also pay extra for the boat ride through star island. You do start and end at bayside market if you ride the entire tour with out hopping off.
They have the ins and outs down to a science so it runs smoothly and is a great way to see the city. I highly recommend. We have done it several times and we are sure to bring money to tip the drivers and guides.

  3. Two weeks is a great way to start cruising! The Breeze is a great ship. You must try Guys Burgers. I ate one everyday on a seven day cruise! They are delicious. Give the 3d theater a try it was fun. We sprang for the spa pass for our cruise and it was so worth it. You get access to the thermal spa all cruise long! It was relaxing with heated loungers sauna and a mineral water pool with jets it was amazing. The few ports you listed sound amazing. I have not had the pleasure of getting to any of them yet so I can’t help you there but if you book excursions you might want to book through Carnival. A piece of advice I learned is never to take a taxi or tour from anyone soliciting outside the cruise port. Inside they are authorized to be there and it is safe. Outside and you don’t know if it is legit or not as those groups have not been authorized to be inside the port. I hope this helps a bit! Have a fantastic first cruise. You will probably be hooked after!

  4. Thanks. Seems pricey. And a bit tacky walking into the dining room with a glass of wine?

Would love to hear from others if they have been chartor not...and what ship.

I’m guilty of bringing my glass of wine to the MDR many a night. Sometimes my own pour in my room and sometimes my drink before dinner from elsewhere on the ship. I don’t think it is tacky to do so and have never been asked about where it came from. Just don’t try to leave with your unfinished glass of wine from chops because they will stop you as they use real crystal glasses there!!! They gladly changed out my crystal for a cheaper version!

  5. Pier 66 lost its flag with Hyatt.

I’m partial to the W Fort Lauderdale, Westin Beach Resort and Harbor Beach Marriott though. Great Platinum recognition at all three.

I didn’t realize pier 66 lost Hyatt. I stayed there three days before Irma hit. We were at sea for two weeks due to the hurricane. Still is a great place to stay especially for the great view from the tower rooms!

  6. Marriott harbor beach is a great place to stay on the beach. I like the Hyatt Pier 66 also while not on the beach has a great pool area and lots of nice restaurants like Pelicans Landing on pier 66 for some great yacht watching! The Hyatt has golf carts that will give you a ride from the hotel down the pier to the restaurant. Hyatt and Marriott are some of the few hotels that you have a view of the cruise ships at Port Everglades. We had a great sunset dinner on the water there! The rustic inn is close to the airport in FLL and the stone crab should be in season still during your visit! You can sit outside by the waterway. Try the garlic bread it was delicious [emoji39]

  7. Have they changed rules to allow you to bring on soda?

That was going to be question also. I thought no water or soda from outside the ship anymore .... hence why they made the cases of water to be purchased before boarding an affordable price.

  8. Never seen this with Carnival but on NCL newer ships like Escape they have single cabins and a lounge area and activities like dinners and meet and greets for solo cruisers without the double occupancy charges

  9. I’m in NV too and had a friend who got a ticket just for having her phone in her hand while driving. She was not using it. I don’t know how many times I have been in the line at Starbucks and it is held up by people on their cell not paying attention sitting in the drive-thru.

    QUOTE=awestover89;56439374]Honestly

thought it was nationwide already. Didn't realize some states didn't have these laws yet. Although NV can be a bit excessive at times, had a co-worker get a ticket because he was using his cell phone while the car was turned on, even though he was parked. Officer claimed that as long as the vehicle was running he was "in control of a motor vehicle" and the cell phone ban applied, regardless of if the vehicle was parked or in motion.

Was thrown out in court, but still, a lot of trouble for something that shouldn't have been an issue.

  10. I don’t think that the amount of alcohol served should be a factor... how many here have committed a sexual offense simply because they were over served? I’m willing to guess none. The alcohol didn’t drive the attack the individual was already inclined to commit this attack imho. The cruise line has a curfew and anyone out after that curfew is supposed to be with an adult. I would say we need more facts about why he was not with his parents or in his cabin. The article as it is written certainly makes me believe the parents are mainly responsible for the situation not the cruise line.

  11. I have bought a few of these in the past and tucked them into my packed shoes in my suitcase and they made it through... they were nice to have to mix a quick little drink in the cabin .... good luck [emoji106]

  12. my first cruise was on Carnival and i swore id never cruise again it was so bad.

then i went back and forth between trying RCCL and NCL. i ended up going with NCL and we've been most pleased. we like the varying age demographic and how there is something for everyone. we opt to sail during times were there are the least amount of children on board, however. our first NCL was in July and we said never again - too many kids taking over everything!

I have to agree with you! Went on Carnival and also said no thanks... found myself looking for more options for food and better entertainment. I love NCL... Escape is a great ship and the food and entertainment were also very good. I love spice H2O for the adults only area and the waterfall is nice to cool off in ... I like RCCL also and look forward to another cruise with NCL.

  13. We have cruised with NCL, several times. We recently had the opportunity to cruise with Carnival. Here are my comparisons. (I won't mention which ship we were on Carnival, but it was an older ship, so I will like compare an older NCL ship we have been on).

1.) websites....both fairly easy and equally informative

2.) embarkation.....most of the embarkations we have participated in have gone fairly rapidly and organized; no big difference in ships handling of this

3.) balcony cabin: size-wise, not much difference. Carnival's cabin did NOT have a refrigerator, not individual room temperature controls...all NCL ships we have been on have had these two things. Carnivals bathroom, while older decorated, had a slightly bigger shower and more storage room. Carnival has no messaging system for Do Not Disturb, Please make up room, etc. as NCL ships have

4.) Food...highly subjective. We have always found the food in main dining rooms to be relatively good, with enough selection to please everyone. Carnival & NCL compare well here. However Carnival seems to be a little less than NCL when it comes to portion size. Buffett is where Carnival & NCL are highly different. While Carnival incorporates their Guy Fierri Burger bar, Mexican, Deli, Pizza stations on outside of their buffett, which is OK, their actual buffett with an assortment of food, is lacking, compared to NCL. Breakfast buffett, except for omelet station, which NCL also has, is very lacking in good hot food or fruit, for that matter.

5.) Entertainment: Here is where we found the biggest difference to be. We heard most all singers on board Carnival and all lacked talent and professionalism. NCL's much better, over-all.

6.) Service....have seldom ever had a problem with service on any ship. Carnival was no exception.

7.) Ship board activities....all ships have pretty much the same type of sea day activities...no real difference in either.

8.) Disembarkation, have always found to be pretty smooth, Carnival, no exception.

So in closing, the two biggest differences we found, were in food & entertainment. Two big areas of interest to most people! While we didn't find Carnival bad, we would definitely choose NCL over Carnival, whenever possible.

    Happy cruising!!!

Agreed I have found the same to be true with entertainment and food. The older NCL ships also do not have the wild decor as the older carnival ships do.
