The rub here is that Bermuda is a wonderful beach getaway with kids-- with some of the best and most pristine beaches anywhere-- but April really isnt beach season. The air temp will be in the mid to low 70s during the day with lower humidity than you get during the summer, but the water temp will be in the high 60s making swimming not so great for most of us.

That being said you can certainly enjoy the beach with much lower crowds than the main season but swimming might be off the table.

The island itself is a beautiful British Overseas Territory and is much cleaner and upscale than most places further south in the Caribbean. It's very safe and family friendly. There are some great historic spots but that might be lost on a 5 and 7 year old. April is a fantastic time for golfing on the island-- again, not something they would be part of.

It might be that either waiting until the summer season for beach weather on Bermuda or maybe looking at other cruises that are further south in the warmer weather in April where there will be more to do with them could be the two paths here.

Thank you! They do like the beach, but not so much swimming in the ocean so that might be OK. Unfortunately, this is really the only cruise that works for us during their spring break. There's one out of Miami, but, it's very port intensive... I thought maybe being docked somewhere for a few days might be better for them.

  2. Hi everyone! Looking at an NCL Bermuda cruise out of NYC in April 2025 on the Prima. My kiddos will be 5 and 7. It's a 7 day cruise with 3 days in Bermuda. I've never been to Bermuda and I am wondering if there is enough stuff to do there for the kids between the port and the ship? This would be their first cruise. Thanks for any advice or suggestions!

  3. Hi everyone. I have two CruiseNext deposits ($250/each) that we purchased on a cruise in February 2019. The expiration date is February 2023. I was under the impression that as long as you use them towards a future cruise, you can go past the expiration date (e.g. I could use them for a cruise in March 2023 as long as they are applied). Hope that makes sense. Anyway, I am not able to do this; they do not come up as options for a March 2023 cruise. So... was I wrong? Do they truly need to be used before February 2023? Or do I have to call to apply them to a cruise past that date? Thank you 😊

Hope you made it home safely to your little one. I’m sure he was glad to see you! Sure am glad  we missed this storm! A few hours surely made a difference. Wow!

PS - We sat with you at the Meet & Great.

Thanks! Yes, we made it home with no issues - hope you guys did too! It was lovely meeting you! 🙂

Yes, Bahamas is included, as would GSC, but not certain that island even has cellular service.  it might though.  If it did, then it would work the same way as Nassau or Freeport.

One clarification, you stated that "use the service on land for no additional charge."  Technically, every time you go off of the ship onto a non-US port and use that countries cellular system, you would be starting the 24hour clock on service, and pay $10 for every 24 hour period of use.  Even if you only use your phone once, and sent one text message, you would pay $10.  So once you decide to use it, use it as much as you can and make a note of the 24 hours period end-time.  Anything after that time would be an additional 24 hours/$10.

One question that this raises, is let's say that you were on a western Caribbean cruise with Honduras and Belize back-to-back port days.  Does the $10 charge cover multiple countries within that 24 hours.  I would imagine it does, but worth checking.  it'd be the same traveling across Europe and crossing more than one country within 24 hours.  Just one charge based on the clock, not the country.

If you get their cruise package, then going on land is no additional charge to the $50 or $100 one time cruise package fee. This is separate than the $10/day package. 🙂

You are using the cellular provider on the ship so it is basically the same as a land-based roaming package.  There is no extra charge from NCL to use their cell network.  I don't think all NCL ships are covered by the AT&T package so you should check the list.  If you turn off data roaming you won't accidentally use data.  When the ship enters a port the cellular service is shut down so your phone will begin roaming with the land-based provider.  Also having the $10 per day international will cover any land-based usage.

Thank you for the explanation, super helpful! We have 3 days at sea total, 1 day in Florida (so won't need anything then), 1 day in Nassau, 1 day in GSC. The Escape is covered, I checked the list of ships. And, judging by AT&T's description, I can use the service on land at no additional charge..."select Caribbean islands" so I would have to call and find out if the Bahamas is included. (edit: Just found the list of Caribbean islands, the Bahamas IS included although not sure about GSC and whether they would turn off  cellular for the private island).

  7. I was just looking into this! Can someone explain how it works? For example, to make a call while on the ship, is that wifi calling or am I actually connected to a cellular signal? If cellular, how do I make sure I am not using data? And does the cruise line charge anything for this in addition to AT&T?

Sailing on the Escape in February and leaving our 15 month old at home with the grandparents. I would like unlimited texting at the very least!

Bushwacker but having to put my own straw in it wont feel complete.

    Shame on NCL!

NCL is taking steps to not destroy the oceans we all love sailing on. There is so much plastic waste in the ocean, and many sea creatures die because of it. I was just in Disney and they now use paper straws, and those worked just fine. You can also buy reusable straws on Amazon.

All of the PC/Cocoa Beach car rental agencies will shuttle you from the port to their office, but most will close about 5-6:00, so you might need an Uber or Taxi after you drop off the car.  The drive is pretty easy - mostly highways.  We rented a car a few years ago for a PC stop and made it to Universal and back with out issues.  Your call! :classic_cool:

Thank you! We typically use Avis, but they don't say whether they do after hours drop off, and the rental center is farther away from the port than National (which looks to be right there) and does after hours. My husband will call Avis to find out about after hours dropoff (unless you know? 🙂)

I just need to decide if it's worth the possible hassle, or if we should just take the darn NCL transfer. Hmmmmm.

  10. Hi all, we'll be on the Norwegian Escape and docking in Port Canaveral from 1 pm - 9 pm. DH and I want to go to Disney Springs. NCL has a transfer for $35pp and it says you're there for approximately 3.5 hours (plus 1 hour each way is 5.5 hours total). I read one review on NCL that the bus drops off folks at the parks first and then goes to Disney Springs, which cuts back on the time spent there.

If we rent a car, we'd probably get a couple more hours out of the day there, and the cost wouldn't be much more than taking the NCL transfer. But wondering if that's worth the hassle of getting an Uber/shuttle to the rental car place and back to the ship after? Has anyone done this? Advice? Suggestions? Thank you 🙂

  11. Hi all! I was reviewing the tier benefits for the NCL Latitudes program and I came across this in fine print at the very bottom of the page:

"Note: Onboard Discounts (including the pre-booking of shore excursions) are available on all sailings. All other benefits are available on sailings 5 days or longer."

Does this mean on sailings less than 5 days, I wouldn't get priority embarkation/debarkation, complimentary dinners, etc? I am a platinum member, if that matters. Thank you for any info!

  12. Cruise deck plans dot com have a lot of pics of suites on deck 13, so which category r u looking at and I'll see if I can post some pic.

As for motion there is very little on this cruise unless rare weather happens. The ship hugs the coast line most of the journey.

Thanks! Looking at category SH (specifically cabins 13510,12,14,16).

Good to know about the motion. I figured there wouldn't be much. DH and I rarely get motion sick, but we were just wondering.

  13. Hi all! DH's aunt and uncle are going on a Hawaii cruise on the POA and they invited us to come along. We're contemplating a suite because we looooved our suite on the Pearl, and they are staying in a deck 13 suite.

Has anyone stayed in any of the suites on deck 13, and if so, did you like them? Was there alot of motion being on the front of the ship, and towards the top of the ship? Pros? Cons? Anything? Thank you for any info!
