  1. We love the Sky and Coffee is my thing too! Along with booze. Gotta have my Bailey's with my Hazelnut Mocha.

Tip!: Order your coffee drink with booze! Sometimes, they don't charge the correct price because of the booze. The booze is not free at the coffee bar! Even though the Sky is All-Inclusive. You get a discount on the booze and most of the time, your coffee drink is cheaper this way. Show your love (tips) and they may love you even more next time.

  2. We are booked for the April 2018 Inaugural Cruise. Should be fun. TheDougOut is also booked. He was the one on the Escape with the live blogging the whole trip that sparked a ton of interest. A roll call for this cruise is coming along nicely. Come join us!

  3. Hello "Best Friend" MichaelInATL",

Looking forward to meeting both of you onboard.

Hello everyone. I am the "best friend" SAEMike is cruising with on this TA adventure.

We've been on several cruises, but this will be our first Trans Atlantic. 7 sea days in a row seems like A LOT so we will be taking full advantage of the Open Bar package to pass the time.

The last time we were on the Epic (Oct. 2011) they always had a "Friends of Dorothy" meet and greet on the daily schedule which was really cool. They moved it around to a couple of different bars for variety I suppose, but we usually ended up at Shakers Lounge because that's where our favorite bartender was.

Has anyone ever been on a Trans Atlantic before? Any tips on things to do?

    Looking forward to meeting everyone!

  4. The rebellious fish is one of my favourite drinks on NCL. Be sure to leave some fruit for me. I get lit on those drinks and pull the fruit out of the cup saying it is fish food.

Speaking of rebellious fish, do the carpets in the hallways have the one rebellious fish swimming against the others? It's NCL signature. It's on the pool towels too.

    Hello fellow cruisers,

since there is no family cruising on my Escape or Dawn cruise...lets try this!!!:D

Hope to have splendid rocking days crossing the Atlantic!

  6. Welcome Kris!

This is our second time on the Norwegian Epic. I am looking forward to chatting with you and others as well. We are from Richfield, Minnesota (Minneapolis, MN suburb). If you have any questions regarding the NCL Epic, I can help? It is a beautiful big ship. We love the water rides and hope to enjoy them with CC friends. Talk soon!

    Ross

I booked this cruise last week, will be travelling with family. My second transatlantic and first NCL cruise. Glad to see I'm not the only one to book early for this cruise! I'm 35 and from Scotland look forward to chatting more over the next 12 months.
  7. Hello Mike,

Wow!!! Just running thru the threads and happened to find yours! My partner and I are also booked on this cruise for 2017.

My name is Ross. His Jerry!

This will be our second time on the Epic. As of today, we have 4 cruises booked with NCL. 3 of the 4 paid for. I just booked this one the other day. You can see the other cruises we are booked on below. Join us on the SKY for a quick sail in February. This is a fun little party ship. We are doing a back to back with February 24th being Jerry's birthday.

This is a long ways away. Hopefully, we can get to know each other, talk about the ship and meet up.

    Ross

I know this is way early but thought I'd toss it out there. My best friend and I are booked on this cruise and we're wondering if there is anyone else is planning on going as well. Let's hear from you!

    Mike

  8. You are responsible for taxes and fees. You may also pay $200 per person Non-Commissionable Fare for a 7 day cruise. (It was $25 per night per person NCF.) We were comped our Dec 2016 cruise. We booked the cruise on the ship and then called the CAS department to tie this cruise to the CAS. The cruise was $2900 balcony room. They comped us a Oceanview, so we downgraded. At the end with the comp, we paid $1250 with all grats and taxes. We were also able to keep the 2 promos. Booze and dining packages. The booze and dining package value was around $1100. With the $125 savings on the CruiseNext deposit certificate, they are almost paying us to take this cruise.

If CAS comps you a cruise, are you still responsible for the taxes and port fees or would those charges be covered?
  9. Just got off the ship on Feb 28th. Had a blast. We also had the UBP. You will not have any issues. You may find some bars busier than others and may have to wait. If you really want fast service, waive a few dollars around. Yes, you pay the 18% and service fees on the UBP, but don't be shy about tipping more. The servers and bartenders will love you and keep checking up on you often. Some bartenders will bypass others to serve you if you have been tipping already.

Some people will rant about tipping extra. These kids don't make much and $1 here and there will not kill you. The amount you pay in grats and service fees is nothing. You didn't pay for the UBP promo. (Averaging $900 for 2).

  10. I think it all depends on the date you booked your cruise. At one point, they included the 18% grats and service charge. I cruise on Feb 20, 2016. I booked 10 months in advance. The gratuities and service charge was included with our package. They no longer include the gratuities and service charges. I think they needed to change the wording for their POS systems. One packages the grats and tips together, the other places the grats and tips on your account to pay at the end. Just a guess, but a pretty good guess considering I worked at a hotel and programmed different hotel packages. We had to use different names to identify them.

  11. Just called back NCL Casino Complaint department regarding the OBC limits and refunds. She immediately got the casino reservations department on the phone with me. Apparently, the limits and refunds will not affect casino reservations at this time. They know this money is to gamble with and how it will affect their bottom line. I was told by Rosie, Casino Coordinator who was calling most casino reservations with OBC over $1000 yesterday, that NCL changed their mind for casino reservations. She told me my OBC credits will remain. I am still angry that they made poor decisions to upset me within 10 days of my cruise. I don't need to think of this, I need to decide what to bring and how to make the most of my precious time off from work.

I don't blame them for the policy change due to people abusing it and profiting from the refunds, but it was done poorly. This change was effective Jan 21 according to another poster and according to a supervisor I spoke with last night, it was done about a month ago. Their decision to refund when so close to a sailing date is mind boggling. Dont play with peoples money.

Please excuse the grammar and spelling above. I was so upset yesterday, that I put on two different color shoes (same shoe style) and went to work like that. Thank god no one realized it. I realized it when I went to tie my shoe and saw I had two different color shoe laces and then realized two different color shoes on. OMG!!!

  12. I am within 12 days of sailing. I called NCL 5 days ago because of CC blog posts regarding the OBC limit and people abusing it. I got a supervisor involved and they could not see the new $1000 limit in the system. I looked on NCL OBC purchase page and did not see it on the $25, $50, or $100 OBC links. What I did see was a hidden way to purchase $500 and $1000 OBC links after you clicked on the $100 OBC link. On the $500 and $1000 OBC purchase links did I see the $1000 OBC limit. Still when I called 5 days ago, NCL knew nothing about it.

We purchase OBC to gamble on the ship. Call it a de facto savings account! I purchase in $100 increments every week like a savings account. We spent over $2000 on our last cruise gambling. (No judgment's please) We were comp'd a cruise and given 20% off this cruise.

12 days before our cruise, NCL wants to refund the overage. Do you think the refund will make it before our cruise? Doubt it!!!. After NCL called me today to inform me of the refund, I called back. Apparently, their is mass confusion within the management level and casino reservations. Our refund is on hold and they will call me back.

I called again tonight as I didn't hear back from NCL about the refund. I asked for the Casino Reservations Supervisor and threatened to not put $1 into their machines. We have unresolved casino issues from our last cruise on NCL. We emailed a complaint and had never heard back from NCL ever. This was over 1 year ago.

Don't do me like this, NCL!!!! I will be calling again tomorrow to complain even more. I shouldn't have to worry about a thing 12 days out from the cruise. I was half in 'Cruise Mode' and then I have to worry about this sh*t. I am pissed.

  13. Our picture is in our Cruise Critic profile. See you at Tobacco Road @ 8pm first night. If not, we will be the loudest gay boys at the pool deck bar! I am soooo ready to go!!! :D

My Partner and I will be onboard with sister, brother-in-law and their 2 daughters. We generally attend the "friends of Dorothy" meetings when we sail.

My only complaint is that they rarely cordon off an area for us and often their is no specific way (other than gaydar) to know for sure who is actually there for the meetings
