    Hi

Our Oasis cruise on June 27, 2020 is now officially cancelled.

We booked through a travel agent.

I see on Royal’s website you can request a refund online.  Are we able to do that or do I need to ask our travel agent to do it for us?

    Thank you in advance

    Noreen

Travel Agent. Let them work for you. Are you sure you want the refund or just a credit on the account? This will pass. Cruising will be back stronger than ever. 🙂

Not sure its been mentioned or not....the FCC can't be used for the depo....so that means you do not need (or want) to wait for the FCC prior to booking the replacement (especially if you have a specific cabin you want)

I wouldn't wait. The prices are still pretty low. You'll have to come out of pocket for the $250 per person deposit but the FCC from the previously canceled cruise will eventually be applied to the overall balance on the new booking. They're running WAY behind on the application of refunds and the FCCs.

I have a deposit on a November cruise with final payment due in August. My options seem to be to cancel and lose deposit, make final payment and take cruise if it sails or get a fcc if it is cancelled.

Another question is will the Caribbean ports on the itinerary be open or will it end being a cruise to RCI private islands.

    Time will tell.

You won't lose the deposit. The cruise with confidence program applies to even non-refundable deposits.

  4. Royal Caribbean Sailing Suspension Update

  5. Thanks for the reply!

Other than the crew on the ship (which we can't ask), no one at Royal seems to know precisely how the virtual balconies are laid out per ship.  If you called them and said "I want a room with a VB of the stern of the ship on the Symphony of the Seas", they would not know which one to put you in because they don't know their own ships well enough to know which rooms have a VB on the wall of the stateroom that is facing the stern of the ship. #incredible

  6. Actually ports are secure areas and I doubt you could fly the drone over the port area. And if someone did fly a drone over a secure area I hope the security people shoot it down or find the operator and jail them! Drones in many cases are invasive and intrusive - why fly 20 feet over some people tanning in their backyard? That is just for the operators prurient pleasure. I personally have been buzzed by a drone once - it was horrible. All I was doing was walking to my car after an event. If I had been able to find the drone operator, they would have gotten an earful, but I doubt it would have stopped them from doing it again.

    Absolutely agree.

A real drone pilot will be licensed from the FCC and know all the rules. Anyone else shouldn't be operating one.

  7. So glad to read this as we really wanted to bring our drone for Coz and Belize.

But, if the Master says no, it's law! So we'll wait and see. Going to take it but prepared for confiscation.

I started with guest services at the 1800 number for RCCL and they told me the same thing I heard a few days later when this lady called after my voicemail.

Maybe RCCL has finally gotten a clue...maybe...

  8. Always an idea to get confirmation by email and then carry a copy of the email with you IMO. If security on ship have different ideas, you can at least show them the email.

I went to the guest services desk the day before and had it logged in their system that guest services was telling me "no problem" and I still had an issue coming back on to the ship on deck 2.

Back to the main point of the thread; according to Global Security Department, those issues should be a thing of the past.

  9. Hello everyone.

My wife and I are booked on our next cruise for Alaska in August 2019. During our September 2017 cruise on the Oasis of the Seas, I experienced quite a bit of hassle while bringing my Mavic Pro drone back on to the ship after our port of call at Costa Maya Mexico. The security officers that operate the metal detectors tried to confiscate my drone.

    I posted a youtube video (

) from that excursion showing the drone footage and a recent comment asking about approval for the drone caused me to reach out for the official answer.

Last Friday, June 1 2018, I called Royal Caribbean's corporate headquarters in Miami (305-539-6000) and asked for someone in the security department for all ships. I was transferred to someone's voicemail and left a message asking about the official drone policy.

This morning (June 4), someone named Nikki called me on the behalf of the Global Security Department for Royal Caribbean.

She told me a new drone policy was very recently created and sent out to all of the ships in the fleet.

    ------------------------------------------------------

You are allowed to bring a drone with you on your cruise, keep it with you in your statement, and take it off the ship for ports of call.

    The restrictions:

    • You can't fly the drone on the ship at any time
    • You can't fly the drone near the ship at any port of call
    • Know the drone laws for the cities/countries you want to fly it in

I asked her specifically about the security department on the ship and sending the drone through the metal detector as you're coming back on from the port because this is where my problems from last September started. She assured me that would not happen again because of this new policy.
