  1. My all time favorite; 24 day on Quest in the Antartica - magical! Words cannot describe, next favorite - Israel with Masada, Red Sea, excursion overnight, and of course the Dalmation coast. Loved the Phillipines last year. Northern crossing memorable too.

I have never been on a 'least favorite'.

  2. We just spent three days at Raffles after our Sojourn Philippines cruise. Raffles was pure bliss! We enjoyed every minute while there. Be sure to take the history tour of Raffles while there. Oh, the stories this historic property has.

  3. As is on all ships, being under the pool/outside deck will always be noisy! I learned that on Royal Princess many years ago and since then have always booked a suite with cabins above me. One time on the Regent Voyager, an upgrade was given to the aft deck with the outside veranda above us - only to fine olive pits, napkins etc on our balcony along with the early morning ritual cleaning of the deck. One other hint I learned on a Seabourn cruise is to never book an adjoining room - unless you purposely want that group there. Boy was it noisy when we were on the Sojourn.

  4. Ron, every morning with my coffee and every night with my glass of wine I visit this post to see what is new! And there it is - your wonderful pictures. I know now I can board in October and: unpack in a breeze as I know where everything will be, and sleepwalking will be a cinch! I know the layout so well - thanks to you. Looking forward to the next deck and wishing the Navigator had zillion decks so this photo journey would never end!

  5. Would love to see your pictures. We were on the Navigator when it first came into service for an overnight outing from Los Angeles and back the next morning. Loved it and the size and the room. Then we moved on to Voyager and Mariner and on to Seabourn. On our ill fated trip on the Voyager a couple years ago from Sydney to Singapore - Regent was very fair in compensating our coffers with an onboard credit for all. At that time we had decided to leave Regent (even with 125 plus days) and venture out to Seabourn and open to trying some others. However with our credit we decided to go back to the Navigator and will soon be trying her in November. Your pictures will help reorient us to the layout. Thank you in advance for sharing.

  6. Queensgirl,

I am from SB and it would be great if we could meet and talk. You will absolutely love this trip. I wrote in my journal and would be happy to share some of it if you would like. How do I contact you.?

I did go to REI and get the gloves - waterproof which also happen to have the liners inside and could be used separately. Northface, a brand, also has some good liners only, which a friend had given me as a present.

Let me know if you have questions as you start your planning.

  7. We too were on this magical voyage. I too must admit I loved South Georgia and found it equal to our Antarctic experiences. As someone said of the voyage, and couldn't be expressed better; "It was like a dream but being awake!" So true.

Being from the west coast and I was concerned about cold weather gear.

I of course rented the boots, but did buy extra thick socks from REI, which i found were not really needed. If I wore them, then I would have to exchange the boots on exchange day - and they were limited. Hence after one day of boot struggling on, I ditched the heavy socks and went for a warm cozy pair of my husband's.

Waterproof pants are a must and i did buy at REI. They were light weight, easy to pack, and who knows I may need them at another time.

Do not bring a beanie head warmer, Seabourn provides a penguin beanie, back pack, water bottle, puffer (insulated jacket) and parka.

Also, unbeknownst to me, but I found out two days into our five landing days, that I could request walking sticks from the square. They were delivered to my room and I had a choice of keeping them for $100 or returning the at the end of the voyage. They were certainly an asset in walking over uneven pebbly ground, or slick ice, or falling in a deep hole of snow.

Sun glasses, preferably wrap around are great for those sudden snow flakes, heavy too at times. Moisturizer for sure as mentioned.

My layers of landing preparation were simple but perfect:

    1. Silk underwear, 2. leggings and turtle neck sweater (if my mouth needed extra warmth I pulled the turtle neck up) 3. Socks, waterproof pants, puffer jacket, 4. Beanie, parka, boots. 5. glove liners (with the camera touch pad on the finger tips) water proof outer gloves. 6. And sometimes back back and sometimes the multitude of puffer and parka pockets to hold things depending on the weather.

This trip has been one of my most unforgettable favorites. What an experience that touched all of the senses.

  8. Mr. Rumor, (Rich)

Thank you so much for sharing your adventure and thoughts with us. We are on the same trip next October, 2014 from Montreal to Miami. Your daily log is of interest with the weather, the excursions, the experiences etc. is getting me excited in preparation for the trip.

We were on the unique Voyager trip from Sydney to Singapore a year ago. With all the issues everyone was granted 50% of their cruise fare to be applied to another cruise. Very kind and fair of Regent. Thus we booked this trip as we will extend in Miami and head to North and South Carolina for a land trip at the end.

The three of you continue to enjoy the joys of your journey and again thank you for all of your honest input.
