  1. I was on the same cruise. Wish I would have known you were sick, I had an extra Z-Pak. I've been sailing on RC for quite a while now and I can truly say the service is declining rapidly. Be glad you didn't get the voom internet package. It didn't work half the time. I tried calling guest relations on 3 separate occasions and no one would answer. I walked down there and waited in line and all they would tell me is that they knew it was down and should be up soon.

The MDR food was fair, but the wait staff was awesome. My kids (late teens) loved the trip and all the water rides, which is all that really matters, right?

I played in the Texas Hold'em Tournament and was very disappointed in the made up rules as they went along. Luckily, I work 3rd place and at least got my money back. The blackjack dealers were mostly rude. My wife tried to sit down at a table with me and 1 other person and the dealer barked at her that she couldn't sit down unless she was playing. I get if the table only had one or two seats left, but it was empty!

The pool deck was too crowded with tables in the main walk-way area. You literally had to walk single file to get through.

The windjammer was also sub-par. Breakfast was about the only thing I somewhat enjoyed.

Stateroom attendant was good. They TV's in our balcony room and also in our kids inside room had huge distortions down the screen making them hard to watch. There was mold in the seals of the shower doors. They just need to replace those nasty things.

On a positive note, the weather was perfect. We zip-lined in Roatan. Went to the Mayan ruins in Belize, and snorkeled in Cozumel. None of these were ship excursions. We picked them outside the port and we were very satisfied! Especially with the snorkel! Got our own private boat for 6 people and they took us out for 4 hours to different reefs and beaches for only $55 per person! That included unlimited Corona's and Cokes!

All-in-all, it was a good trip. Could have been worse.

  2. Just disembarked Liberty this past Sunday from the Thanksgiving sailing.

I have never written a review, however I wanted to share some issues & observations while still on my mind.

We had a decent time but all the cutbacks have become very noticeable to the point I no longer have any desire to get back on an RC ship for a long time.

I cannot justify spending $6000 for a subpar trip.

Since I have been home, I cancelled 2 future bookings for next year.

    - Deck around the main pool is a complete watery mess. Not just poolside but even 30ft away. All the walking areas are flooded, and too the point that it is very slippery and you cannot keep any of your things on the ground or it gets soaked.

    - Area around the kid pool/slide has gigantic pools of water on the deck. Making most of the chairs unusable the entire time.

    - Poolside activities are almost non-existent. The did do the Belly flop contest but that is all I saw over 4 sea days.

    No poolside Cookout/BBQ.

    - 3 days I had tell someone to play music at the main pool. They would turn on the audio for ESPN Carib which would blare commercials and sports scores which nobody was watching.

    - The music they finally put on was a type of House-Club mix. Not really they genre for the 30-70 age group at the pool, but better than TV audio.

    - The single soft serve ice cream machine is a joke and had a constant line of at least 10-15 people along with a mess of spilled cones on the deck around it.

They really need to break down and get at least 2 more yogurt machines to accommodate the amount of people aboard.

    - Arcade had many games that were broken or poor working order, but still left on to take peoples money.

    - Photography set-ups and merchandise tables really obstructs flow of traffic badly almost every night in the promenade.

    - Air conditioning in staterooms no longer get very cold.

    - MDR was warm almost every night.

    - No background music in MDR 3 nights. dining room mgr shrugged and said it's just the way it is.

    - MDR food has been stripped down in selection and quality and many favorites are gone. Looks like they finally "jumped the shark" because it really sucks now.

    - Windjammer food selection is also very trimmed down from past trips.

    - Cafe Promenade has dwindled down to just a few cheap sandwiches and 3 types of pastries.

    - When we missed the Falmouth stop due to weather issues, RC did a poor job coming up with alternative/additional activities for the day. Almost nothing..

    - No cocktail service in Platinum theater. Bartender disappeared in the middle of the show with people standing around waiting. I had to call guest services 2x to get him to come back.

    - Room service dishes in the hallway 2 days.

    - When phoning guest services, I had to sit on hold for at least 3 -10 min each time. This has never happened in the past.

    - I have left out other issues that would take to long to explain.

For me the cutbacks are really having a negative effect and for the 1st time I don't feel like I got my money's worth this trip..

Somehow over the last 10 years "Mediocre" became the new "Fabulous"......

I have to agree. I've been on 11 RC sailings and I just got off the Liberty today (one week after you). The service is declining for sure. The casino staff is almost intolerable with their rude comments. I had the internet package and I was lucky to get a picture to load in an email. The drinks were good as long as you didn't mind waiting for a bartender for 5 minutes or more. Mold in the shower in my balcony stateroom. The TV in my room, and also the kids room, had a huge distortion on the screen. The pool, like you said, was a swamp even in the areas around it. The tables around the isles were so close together, you could barely walk through.

I called guest services several times and NEVER got through to them. As a Diamond Member, I expected some perks, but I had to argue with my stateroom attendant just to get robes. The only other perk I got was the 3 pulls on the slot machine.

I played in the Texas Hold'em tournament and won 3rd place which paid $190. The problem with the tournament was that they just made up rules as they went. One person got to get up and go to the bathroom and missed 2 antes that they didn't have to pay in when they got back. WHAT?! We all thew a fit and the dealer just ignored us. On another table, a player wasn't allowed to get up. When another player challenged them on their rules, the dealer's response was "You need to be quiet or leave."

On a positive note, our wait staff in the MDR was great. The food was bland, but I just come to expect that when made on such a massive scale.

The kids, of course, had a blast and enjoyed the flowrider and water slides. They didn't notice the things I did, so I'm happy about that.
