  1. You don’t need a smartphone! It makes it easier, but you can do it from a computer!

WW does all the math for you, once you join. It gives you the amount of daily points, the weekly points you can use (for indulgences or events) and you can track your activity. It has a huge database of food and restaurants so you just simply type in the item and it comes up with options to choose from. I have been on this new plan of WW for 7 months and I love it. The freestyle plan is great and really offers a ton of flexibility. Let me know if you want any more info!

  2. Thinking about joining WW online

Can anyone tell me how the program works the WW website is vague about it?

Do you need a smart phone to track your progress or get points options etc..

How do you know how many point you are allowed?

Do you get a list of food to eat ? or you have to look up online each item?

    Any help is appreciated

    Thanks

    Lyn

  3. Good morning guys. Good points you all have. My problem is that I'm guilty of feeling like "I've come so far so I don't need to go so hard all the time." So I buckle down a few days and go down, then see that as an opportunity to relax a bit and right back up it goes. All in all, I've lost nothing and in fact on average am up a couple since March. When I look at it that way its quite disappointing. I mean, I lost over 50lbs in a year, so yay, but I had hoped for a little more that doesn't look like its going to come.

For me, this has all been mostly out of a desire to live a longer and healthier life. While I've never shared the details (and don't worry, won't trouble you with them today :)) Losing my Dad and best friend when he was only 58 nearly killed me. After surviving the nightmare years, my son and I developed a relationship that might even go beyond that I had with my Dad. And I definitely don't want to leave him early too. Anyway, all that is just to say, I've made great progress in being night and day healthier than I was even 2yrs ago. Is whats left just vanity? It kind of feels that way and probably why I don't really have the inspiration I did this time last year. Feeling good about yourself is of course always a huge benefit too. Cruises for me are the bookmarks of my life and cause for reflection and planning the next chapter. Boarding the Oasis of the Seas last November down 40lbs was indescribably rewarding.

Ok, sorry for the rambling. Back to work. See you in the morning.

    Mike

good job on your weight loss [emoji106] and what matters is how you feel about your self, sometimes people set them self up with this outrageous number that they just can’t come by...enjoy your cruise.

  4. You read me right, I'm leaving in 3 months and will be on the ship for 5 months. I arrive in Athens on 12/5 and will be home again on 4/24!!! I am so excited I am hardly able to sit still. I'm doing the Aegean Odyssey's "Grand Odyssey" through Road Scholar, Athens to Athens.

    How exciting....

  5. OK, I weighed in this morning after following Freestyle religiously for 2 weeks. Down 2.8 pounds! That's pretty funny because when I originally lost 30 pounds with WW 2 years ago, my average was 1.4 pounds a week.

I am really liking Freestyle, even more than the old Smart Points. It's been easy to fall into the groove of mostly zero point foods and figuring out which foods with points are worth including. I was out of town for a few days and cooking and eating with an old friend. I figured out one morning that 1/2 bottle of wine was 11 SP, so I "zero pointed" breakfast and lunch and happily split a bottle with my friend at dinner.

I'm going to be on a ship for 5 months starting in December. It's a smallish ship so no "walking the deck" for exercise, I guess I can run the stairs? And it will be interesting to see how many zero point foods are regularly available. I'm not intending to follow Freestyle closely while on board but hopefully I can keep it in mind!

Did I read right? You’re going to be on a ship for 5 months? Or you are going in 5 months?

  6. Oh my gosh, you all are doing great! Very excited for everybody's successes, small or large. DH & I started WW June 1st, as of today we've both lost 28#'s. This will be the lowest scale number I've started a cruise with in, well, a very long time! (Oct 26th we leave for the Regal New England cruise).

We are loving WW, the app makes tracking so simple and I've found that is a most helpful function for me. Do you all have any stratigies for eating on the cruise? So far I'm not getting a coffee card this trip so will not indulge much with the foo-foo coffee's. While I'm not planning on holding back from the goodies at the IC, I do hope to make 0 point choices through out the day to off set my sweet tooth. Of course walking, taking the stairs etc for activity. Would love to hear of other stratigies.

    Sharon

Welcome Sharon, small portions don’t hold back make sure it’s worth it, take the stairs tried to get your 10,000 steps in...on my last cruise I would try to walk around the ship 5 times.

  7. Weigh in this past Saturday down .2.. this was the week after losing 5.4lbs. I'm ok with it though. But since Saturday I have been off kilter. Hopped on my home scale this morning (something I avoid) and I am up 8lbs! ugh, Got to get back on track. Cruise is coming up fast.

    Welcome all the new comers!

I hear you, last week I went on a 3 day getaway didn’t track but did a lot of walking my weight in is Saturday which that didn’t happen...I’m tracking now let’s see how Saturday goes [emoji57] we just have to get back on the ball.

I hope the scale is not too bad [emoji51]

  9. Hello all :)

Four years ago, I finished a 3 year journey to improving the likelihood I would have a healthy future - in making those changes I lost close to 100 lb. (I had prior dropped 50 lb or so from grief being widowed in my 30’s). People often ask what I did and the answer is pretty simple - weight watchers online, working out 5-7 days a week, and being both committed and realistic (like knowing that first week’s loss is mostly water and from there the loss will be pretty slow for most of us). Since that loss, my weight has bounced around a bit, at most 25 lb. up after some surgery that kept me home for 2 months (I was likely 6 or so pounds underweight at the lowest); my weight generally has bounced around within that range since. Given some metabolic and thyroid issues, and at 57, I’m proud to have achieved the loss. But it also continues to be a journey!

Because of the way my body works, going on a cruise for 10 days means 8-10 lb up (with water on top of that). My new joke is that I diet and cruise, diet and cruise :') But it’s not far from true! I don’t try to eat healthy while on vacation, it was the deal I made with myself early on (since I don’t do cheat days, I’m pretty faithful when I decide to do something). I also work out daily (which helps my metabolism by reducing insulin resistance).

So before mid October I hope to have 10 lb off and then another 10 or so off between the end of that cruise and the next on in January that will be 10 days (since I will gain weight on that first 7 day cruise that will need losing). I wanted to wish you all luck in your own journeys :D and enjoy your next cruise!

  10. HI all!

McBeeze ~ great weight loss & thanks for the info.

You're the 3rd person I've heard that's lost quite a bit of weight with WW. It sounds great but I just can't see paying money to do so.:o My DD actually worked at the meetings weighing people I think & a friend of mine still went to the meetings into her 80's!! Maybe it's what I need to do for success!

Jo,Yes the plan works! But one had to really work, I started in 2006 got to goal then I took the scenic route. But now I’m Back on the straight and narrow path... [emoji4] Gloria
